Deceiving company with may hidden costs, strong arm sales tactics, and atrocious customer service! Having arrived to the Manchester depot @ 22:45, (45 mins earlier to my pre-paid booking), I was ‘strongly urged’ to purchase extra ‘full insurance’ at an additional 43pounds for my one days rental! I was informed that should I not, there would be 1250 pounds excess blocked on my credit card, which would be withheld at the slightest sign of any damage (specifically was mentioned even the slightest of scratches). This I hasten to day is not clearly stated on the company website! I was also told that should I not take out the additional insurance I would not be able to take my pre- booked car until the later programmed time of 23:30. All this was conveyed with an air of ‘take it or leave it’ the staff knowing the lack of other options open to me, I having pre-paid, the depot being on an industrial estate off airport, and it almost being closing time for the majority of rental companies. Due to the above stated, I felt compelled to buy the extra insurance, basically making the total price for the one day rental at least as pricey as if I had rented from a reputable company such as Hertz. Following all this, I was then informed that the class of car I had pre-paid for ( D class, Ford mondeo or similar) was not available, and was offered a people carrier type vehicle, not ideal for the motorway diving planned! I finally accepted to downgrade to a seat Leon (was up to me to walk around the stock area to source a decent available car) in order to get a normal type car, needless to say the staff were not in the least bothered at the oversight of not having my pre-paid car in stock, nor obviously offering any type of discount/compensation for the downgrade! On top of it all, the company proceeds to withhold 95 pounds just in case you are untrustworthy and return the car with any small amount of petrol less than from when you rented. This I have yet to see if will ever be refunded.... Finally, just add that since having had the opportunity to sit and go through the ‘small print’, it turns out that the company also offers 4 more levels of insurance, this I was never informed about when being pushed the additional cover!!! As mentioned, do yourself a favour, don’t be fooled by the seemingly cheaper rates (there’re not in the end), steer clear and hire direct from a reputable company, as this company is far from that!

Really BAD experience with Easirent in Aberdeen. No explanation of additional fees (145£). Terrible experience with the branch manager Gordon Pender (07845 984395). Do not answer complaints.

Avoid /Avoid /Avoid - you get what you pay for! Pleasant friendly staff on collection of car-however over zealous hunt from head office for liability costs on honest reporting of pre pick up faults on car. Slow puncture prior to uplift cost me a tyre replacement -Beware! Got you by the proverbials! Highly disappointing.

Applied £1,250 x 2 = £2,500 to my card post hire. Apparently an 'error'. Rude call centre man grudgingly said he'd remove. But it would take TEN DAYS! No credit on card and worry I was being defrauded. 4 weeks later still one amount of £1,250 on my card PLUS two fraudulent purchases totalling £900 from someone using same card details on online shop. Bank now investigating a fraud. Woman at Easirent call centre very rude when I called to ask for the remaining £1,250 false transaction to be removed. She actually hung up in me and abused me. I was so worried about their having dipped their hand into my account to the tune of this amount of money. Awful experience. Avoid them at all costs.

run away from EASIRENT as fast as you can... Car pick-up took long time, they charged me a lot of money for using debit card instead of credit card, they didn't tell me I was going to be charged extra for using debit card, they didn't tell me how much I was going to be charged for using debit card instead of credit card, they charged me for petrol when the fuel agreement was full to full... do not trust them...

These guys are crooks, they come up with ridiculous reasons to extort extra money from weary travellers who have very little choice. This company are morally bankrupt.

I gave a star only because I had to. This company is just the worst one I have ever dealt with. They literally stole our money and never let us rent a car, even though we had paid and provided everything that was required. They are now saying that they can't refund us because of their policy. Misleading, dishonest and manipulative. Trust me, I'm doing you a favour by telling you this: run. Do NOT use their services. even if you manage to rent a car they will try and charge you for damages that were already there when you got the car.

If I could have given it a minus I would. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - do not get tempted by the quote. I booked a van in Edinburgh for my son's wedding 6 weeks in advance. On the collection day no van - and lots of lies about why (totally conflicting information). It ended up costing hundreds to get another elsewhere at very short notice (there were many similar reasonably priced offers 6 weeks in advance). It then took weeks and many communications to get a refund from Easirent.

Scammers. They gave me a kind of new car and clean in the outside but very dirty in the inside. When I returned the car, they said I had smoked in it. I have never smoked in my life. They said they're going to charge me £175 for it and since is his word against mine I can't do much. Perfect scam. Never again.

I rented a car through ArgusCarHire to be fulfilled by Easirent at Manchester Airport. The rental included Third Party liability, Theft Protection and CDW. Additionally I had a letter from my Credit Card stating that they provided CDW , LDW and Theft protection coverage. Yet at pickup, Chad told me that I had none of the coverages despite the fact that the Rental voucher contradicted that.. He said that he could not give me the car without additional $216 payment. I had no choice as I had just flown 9 hours and was tired. Subsequently ArgusCarHire confirmed in writing that my rental DID INCLUDE THE BASIC COVERAGE

After many years of renting from these guys, it is only when there is a problem do you realize they have no logical customer service skills. I have been insulted by being accused of 'mis-fueling' a vehicle which was rented with a full tank. Vehicle broke down after driving from Heathrow to Bournemouth, when it misfired badly. AA took vehicle to Toyota and drove me to Southampton for replacement. Without them finding how much fuel was drained to prove I could not have added anymore, which in its self is not logical if I have only driven around 100 miles!!?? Now they refuse to refund the 95 pounds fuel deposit and have stolen another 477 pounds to pay for someone elses mistake!!??? Branch just ignores me and customer care says they assume I put in wrong fuel!!???? AA was right when he said this is a 'bunch of cowboys' company....... So unless I receive my money I guess they are off my supplier list......

Used to be pretty reliable, and certainly well-priced. The former can no longer be said. They are the only rental agency to my knowledge that requires two very recent utility bills as proof of address. The first time I rented, this was fine, and since then (for another dozen rentals) they always provided a car without asking for this paperwork again, since I was a known customer. Tonight, they decided to enforce the rule anew, which poses a problem as my current flat has dongles for electricity and gas, and water is included in rent, hence I receive no utility bills. In spite of recognising me (one staff member knows me, anyway) and having my name in the system, they refused to rent me the car I'd reserved. It's now impossible, purely by virtue of where I live, to rent a car from them, unless I were to move to another property. Absolutely abysmal service - great way to treat a long-term customer of both the Gatwick and Manchester branches. Won't rent from here ever again.

Main interest- extracting as much money as possible from unsuspecting customers. No interest in customer satisfaction.

This is quite simply the worst car hire company I have ever had the misfortune to use. Hopefully someone will read this and avoid the disappointment I went through. Firstly, it took over 2 hours to get a car. That's longer than our flight took, and the kids hadn't had lunch, making everything quite emotional. Then there's the fact that they charge your card for the full excess rather than simply block off an amount like the companies do. Then they charge you a £90 fuel deposit, even though the car only had half a tank in to start with. The car itself was ok, but it was like getting blood from a stone to get the one we booked - they try to hard sell an upgrade, extra insurance and things. The staff were rude and unhelpful. Finally, I don't use my credit card very often, but strangely, unusual activity was detected on it a few weeks after we got back. I have nothing to link this to easirent, but the fact that the whole experience felt like a scam made me very suspicious. Regardless, I'd avoid this company like the clap.

Their MO is quite simply to rip you off at every opportunity, aside from the fact that the car I hired had filthy windows ( & no windscreen cleaner) the pre hire £3/ doc charge for unnecessary additional etc (not on the website) the preloading of your card should you elect not to take out their insurance etc. etc. And then the (bogus) sting a few days after the return I.e windscreen chip

The car I was given had a warning oil light and message showing almost immediately which meant I had to take it to a garage to have it checked and confirmed that the oil was only at 29%. I am still waiting for a refund for the oil. The front screen wipers were broken and unusable as they scratched the window and smashed into the side of the car. The currency difference on fuel was almost £6 - a total scam. Returns procedure was a nightmare - one chap dealing with drop offs and couriering passenger to the airport so a long time delay with the possibility of missed flights.

Your staff applied £1,250 to my card, twice, well after my rental was finished. I was told by my bank that I was near my credit limit which is alarming as I never get that close. It was just as I was going on holiday overseas so needed the credit. I called and your very uninterested man who dealt with me told me these two amounts were an error and that he'd removed them. I asked him to delete my card details and he refused. Odd. One month later my bank tells me I'm near my credit limit again. Yes, he'd only removed ONE of the £1,250 amounts. I called again. The woman who dealt with my request to have the second false charge removed was extremely rude and patronising. There was NO apology. Nothing, and she ended up hanging up on me when I asked her to explain because the line was bad and I was struggling with her speaking so fast trying to get me off the line. At the same time two fraudulent transactions totalling £900 to a company called VanMildert.com were made. I can't help thinking your staff's free access to apply charges my credit card well after the hire is over suggests your staff are the potential source of this fraud as they are the only people who had demonstrable access to my card to apply additional charges that were not valid or warranted - followed by a similar amount of fraud when the individual amounts were released in stages at their whim. My credit card company is now formally investigating.
