most of these reviews are regarding problems between buyers and sellers. my issue is with ebay themselves. ebay will not let me bid or buy anything i have no suspentions never been banned my payments are set up correctly but due to their "security" systems that are automaticlly set based on my activity (apparently ive made too many purchases and paid for them immidietly) work that one out? trying to contact them is very difficult and when you do manage to contact customer service and i use the word "service" loosely they are unable to help and tell you to call them which would cost me a fortune as i only have a mobile phone - to call them to sort out an issue that they have caused? so after making 8 buy it now purchases ( i was never allowed to bid on an item - no reason was given to me as to why i wasnt able to) i am now not even able to buy buy it now items. i resorted to logging in as a guest just so i could purchase something i wanted - it lets me buy the item when i do that? where is the logic in that? another problem with ebay is that their " top rated sellers" can do no wrong even when they do. if you are a buyer and stay on ebay long enough you will find this out. so am waiting for all my purchases to arrive then i will have no choice but to close my account as ebay dont want to let me use it. it seems they dont want my money.

Ebay put my PayPal account in to the minus to give a refund, even though I had put "No Refunds" on my account and they never got my authority to do so. Also, I sold clothes on Ebay for 16.14 and they charged me £32.42 in fees. NEVER USE EBAY!!!

A fuel pump I ordered didn't arrive, the seller said it had been delivered by myHermes, they said " yes it had been delivered, but no one was in", I searched for it, no joy. I complained to eBay, then went back to Hermes, this time they said it had been delivered to Flat 1 ?, I explained that I live in a house in the country, not in a Flat, they then said the seller had put the wrong address on the pump. I had a reply from eBay...case closed, the seller had proof that the item had been delivered. I phoned the seller , Hermes had been in touch with him saying the item had been lost, he said he would send another pump.....didn't arrive. I appealed eBay's decision...they wanted proof from Hermes....I sent them a copy of the email chat I had with Hermes,,,that wasn't good enough. Fortunately Hermes sent me a letter headed email apologising for the lost of the item, it was forwarded on to eBay, the reply I got back was that they needed a letter headed confirmation from Hermes! So I sent another one, as yet I haven't heard if they received that one, as they just went back to the beginning & said the case is closed,,,but I can appeal. Eventually, after two more phone calls the pump arrived, no thanks to customer services. However , being a bit pissed off with eBay insinuating that I was dishonest, I emailed them to point out that I was correct in saying the pump wasn't delivered to me, the seller agreed that the pump was lost & Hermes said they had lost the pump & that a second pump was sent, I also pointed out my name is Mr Quin, not Patrick, I'm a customer not one of eBay mates! What comes back...." this case is closed, you haven't sent the documents we asked for. You have 5 days to appeal". I sent them another email pointing out the customer care dept.was rubbish & they either didn't read or couldn't understand customers emails, I also said there was no need to reply. Their answer to that was.." we are sorry you have such a problem with delivery, but we have proof that the item had been delivered & I could appeal. I have a feeling I've been emailing a computer! I shall now get on with the rest of my life!!

I've read many poor reviews on several different sites, although I've had nothing but excellent customer service. Sometime ago I had a customer who tried to say she'd not received the item I'd sent her, she was very rude and threatened to report me to ebay, I remained polite through out and didn't rise to her attempts to bate me. Ebay checked our correspondence and quickly found in my favour. They also removed her negative comment. More recently a seller sent me a product that in no way reflected what they were advertising. The seller ignored my messages, and refused to accept the returned product. I let ebay know that the seller had refused the returned tracked item and they refunded my money almost immediately. When I use the post office, I always take my item to the post office so I can get a receipt. This then acts as my proof of postage. The post office covers the item up to about £20 if it gets lost. And for ebay I have proof of postage. Maybe ebay are getting better or have I just been lucky? Good luck everyone...

eBay assistance is very poor! More and more sellers are ripping people off abs eBay do nothing about it. I've lost out on 20.00 in the last 3 months due to sellers not sending items and ignoring your messages then eBay close your cases without it being resolved and keep the sellers on there! Shall be using amazing from now on

Had so many bad expeiences from dodgy sellers selling rubbish with zero assistance from ebay that I will never use ebay again. At least you do gtet some support from Amazon. Now days you can get so much of the same decent stuff from Argos and the like ofetn cheaper it isn't worth the risk.

Don't think it's fair that when you buy something the seller gets your PayPal payment and if they rip you off and you leave bad feedback (obviously) they can leave you bad feedback. When you sell an item people are allowed to see everything you have bought and how much you have paid. No privacy on this site at all. Customer services.? Is it in India as I struggle to understand their staff as their ENGLISH is so poor. E-mails are ignored. Joke of a phone system which doesn't recognise your phone number because it always removes the first number. Bad all rounder service

ABSOLUTELY RUBBISH!!!! BUYER LIES TO EBAY THAT ITEM IS NOT AS DESCRIBED. EBAY TAKE MONEY OUT OF MY PAYPAL ACCOUNT WITHOUT PERMISSION. EBAY DECIDE THAT THE BUYER IS CORRECT AND TELL ME THAT ITEMS WILL BE RETURNED AT MY EXPENSE. BUYER IS SELLING MY ITEMS ON HER LISTINGS AND SENDS ME A MALICIOUS EMAIL AND CLOSES RETURNS REQUEST. EBAY TELL ME THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO AS BUYER HAS CLOSED ACCOUNT. I SAID I WANT THE ITEMS BACK AS PER EBAY DECISION. THEY SAY THEY CANNOT FORCE ANYONE TO DO ANYTHING. FUNNY THAT AS THEY WERE MORE THAN HAPPY TO FORCE ME TO MAKE A REFUND. I REPORT BUYER FOR MALICIOUS EMAILS AND THE FACT SHE ADMITTED SHE LIED ON THE RETURN REQUEST AND HAD NO INTENTION OF RETURNING MY ITEMS BUT WANTED ME TO SUFFER. EBAY DO NOTHING. CLEARLY THE CONDONE THIS TYPE OF BEHAVIOUR. ABSOLUTELY S***!!! CUSTOMER SERVICE - NOT A CHANCE. THEY OFFER NO SERVICE TO THEIR CUSTOMERS WHAT SO EVER. THEY SHOULD BE ASHAMED!!!

Very poor, I believe seven to eight weeks to resolve an issue is not acceptable. Extremely difficult to get hold of, no email or postal address, everything done through Facebook. Evasive, General answers that do nothing except point you at website links. My advice. Avoid. That's my plan...

Invoiced me incorrectly for £250, highlighted to them prior to payment reassured it was resolved. Payment taken out of my bank, I phone to complain to be told the refund request hadn't been made and had now been made but would be 5 working days. 5 working days later and I am told it will be 10-15 working days, requested call back from supervisor as they were on the phone. 5 hours later I call back having heard nothing asking to speak with supervisor again, stalling tactics used and then told payment would be 15-30 days!! Wtf?! Also supervisor was still on the phone apparently and unavailable, so told them I would be writing to the financial ombudsman and watchdog and how rubbish their customer service is. They were quick enough to take my money and leave me paying bank charges due to being overdrawn! Worst service ever!!!! Thieving gits!

Crap. Buyer protection is a joke and the customer services are willfully unhelpful. I bought an item of some value and it arrived not as described. I opened a return case and I used the pre-paid return label supplied by eBay; this label was marked a "tracked 48" and I got proof of postage at the post office. To cut a long story short the item did not return back to the seller. The eBay return label is NOT a fully tracked or insured service like "special delivery" is. Royal mail can't find the item and eBay will not refund me as I can only prove I posted the item, I can't prove it has been delivered. Well I used the service THEY provided, it was their pre-paid return label, surely that means they are responsible? No, not according to eBay. So I'm out of pocket. eBay don't give a crap.

There is no direct route to take when a seller accuses you of not paying for a item (that was not ordered or sent) all you get is drop down text boxes that do not cover the issues you want to complain about. It's much easer to just to close down the account and buy from somewhere else.

Purchased item on eBay. Item different to that described. Ebay closed case before it was resolved. Customer service say they cannot help. Resolution centre cannot be reached by telephone and no email available. Hopeless.
