“I simply wanted to know what the problem with a small tree was. Supplied last November it thrived until this August when the leaves started to die back. I got on the chat line and sent a photo. I got standard paragraph after standard paragraph, and no answers of any use. I can have the tree replaced but I have to post it back to them (at my expense) plus the original order, and the original label!!! How I wish I had researched this company before spending £85 on a tree that is now apparently dying.”

“Ordered 6 plants and they arrived in a box stuffed one on top of another - obviously they have a rate with the carrier which depends on box size? One of the plants was dead and their chat service (the only way you can correspond) is just designed to fob you off taking no responsibility for the poor delivery. Don't buy from them unless you are prepared to lose the money you paid as they have absolutely no customer service.”

“Bought a quite expensive tree from them, delivered in May, planted according to their instructions. The tree had buds on it, they still look exactly the same over five months later. Did a bark test, no green to be seen. Have tried for days to message them on their ‘chat’ facility, eventually was able to send photo; their response was your tree is dead and is not covered by our five year guarantee. No replacement or refund offered! Tough! Will never buy from them again.”

“If I could give zero stars for this company I would.Wish I had read the reviews before ordering a plant that never arrived .Woeful, useless customer service, evasive for a reason..this company needs to be reported to trading standards .Stay well clear .”

“This company ignores any question you ask. Their customer service is non-existent. A Magnolia Fairy Blush promotion states a 3 litre item has been reduced from about £20 to £8. But the reduced item is in a 1 litre pot. Talk about a con.”

“Ordered 2 acers: one was ok, not great but ok, the other was tiny and half dead. Impossible to get hold of anyone, emails ignored, no phone contact and then a wait of hours to get through to a 'chat' and even after 6 hours no response. Avoid at all costs.”

“Useless Ordered 10 plants they delivered only 5 in bad condition. sent 5 random plants we didn’t order. Waste of £55 no chance of getting our money back !”

“We ordered three acer trees, what we got were three plant pots with a couple of twigs in each with some dead leaves on them. The soil in the pots was saturated in an attempt to make it look like they had been looked after. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES USE GARDENING EXPRESS. Absolute daylight robbery.”

“Con artists and thieves. No phone line, no email address, and their chat bot on their site is always unmanned and is useless anyway. If you manage to get through to a rep they just spin you a web of lies and then ignore your messages afterwards. Avoid.”

“Avoid this company I spend over £200 on trees and bushes for only a few to arrive in a bad state. After constantly messaging them on their chat and being ignored for 3 months I was finally told they were not sending me the rest of my items. Worst customer service ever This company do not care about their customers !!!”

“Avoid at all costs… I spent £180+ on plants. The majority that arrived were dead, 4 plants were missing. It’s impossible to contact the company as there’s no contact telephone number. I’ve emailed them several times over the course of 7 weeks & no response. Their online chat is pointless no-one responds. Absolutely disgrace of a company who clearly have zero respect for their customers. Wish I’d have read online reviews & avoided. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!”

“Took 4 weeks to arrive. When it arrived all items were packed in the same box squashed together, on top of each other and some upside down. I ordered 3 trees, 1 Bush, 6 succulent plants and 2 large pots for trees, basically squashed in a box 18" x 18" maximum. The succulent plant pots squashed, 9 small heads broken off plants. The Bush had 2 broken stems and the smaller tree was damaged with twigs snapped. It was like, let's see how many items we can squeeze in the box to save on postage, sod the care of the plants. I have ordered trees elsewhere from other suppliers and they come in individual boxes each. Needless to say I won't be recommending them to anyone. If you want to contact them, good luck, as website contact details take you onto questions and answers, but no messaging facility. I replied to ask where they were by the first email received confirming order, and in fact asked if they hadn't posted them to refund me and I will go elsewhere. No answer, but a week later received an email confirming being picked, waited 3 weeks by now, how long does it take to pick them! Then had to wait for delivery. It was with the delivery driver for 5 days, so no watering during that time. Wish I had read reviews before ordering from this company.!!”

“1) delivery was delayed with no communication. One day i receive a message saying my plants will be delivered on the same day which meant i had to change my plans to ensure i was at home. Also, the only delivered half of the products, the other half was delivered on a different day, again, with no notice! 2) the plants look dead and damaged. My lavender is completely dry, the wisteria looks much smaller than promised and damaged. 3) they have changed the price on the wisteria just after i bought it. I bought it for 79 pounds and few days later they changed it to 45. They have a PRICE PROMISE in their website but they can't even keep their promise with themselves! i spoke to the customer service, sent them pictures and explained the situation and they told me that the plants look a bit dry but they will thrive once i put them in the soil, yeah right! they also said they can't do anything for the discount on the wisteria. This is surely the last time i buy from them.”

“Horrendous customer service. I paid £80.00 for a plant that arrived so damaged it died. I went through the online system , sent photos, etc. And I’ve heard nothing. Also one plant never arrived, and they don’t reply to anything. Terrible service. The ‘live chat’ is not live. And if you aren’t watching the page when they re-oh hours/days later then they close the case.”

“contacting and getting a response from gardening express is extremely difficult, my order has not been processed after 2 weeks and its no longer required as its taken so long, want to cancel the order and get a full refund of my payment asap. Customer service is appalling.”
