AVOID!!! I went with this company due to it being the cheapest. However, months down the line they cancelled my policy due to black box scores. I was not contacted about this. I tried to contact them but they had no telephone line. I had to make a new quote to actually be able to speak to somebody. Absolutely appalling customer service. I certainly paid the price for using a terrible company like these.

I will NEVER renew or recommend anyone to general accident. Been with them 2 years and never claimed. However, im in a non fault claim and 3rd party dealing with all my claim car and personal injury. I have been trying to change my policy, amend my policy, and take out gap insurance, plus ask about legal protection. I tried to do on line but does not give options , quotes etc. Or answer 2 questions so i asked for a call . The reply was if i want a call to discuss my policy then i will be charged administration fee. .how do they get away with this. Im 5 days off getting my new car i fear i will get nowhere. I cant talk to a pc . I need a human being to go tho options. My advice STAY CLEAR of this company . Never again will i use

30 mins on the phone and still no answer. just want to know what the clause means re no cover for theft if thatcham item not used. car comes with a factory alarm. nothing to say how long i have to wait. consider this poor customer service when they want my money,,

Terrible company. Been with them one day and driving over the limit once gave me a terrible score. Also the road I drove on is private and therefore “unnamed” which meant my score went down hugely. Very disappointed. Never should’ve gone with them

DIABOLICAL!!! One star is too much and I believe this company to be fraudulent. I have been ripped off!! My policy was cancelled and I was charged for the pleasure, despite uploading my no claims proof via the automated website service following a reminder. No email trail available, therefore I am out of pocket and annoyed!! I was hoping for a response from them as I wanted to discuss my policy URGENTLY. I found myself uploading typed letter to the company via the document upload facility, which fell on deaf ears! NEVER EXPERIENCED CUSTOMER SERVICE LIKE IT IN MY LIFE!!

Unable to contact anyone with regards to an urgent matter regarding false claims on the black box fitted on our car. no response to emails apart from the automated response of 48 hours. very unhelpful when the matter is URGENT. poor customer service. will not be reccomending

I know it's a online insurance, but I find it strange how it take 48 to respond to your emails send directly to them, but respond to reviews on here straight away. when I asked for a phone call to discuss some issues with my account, I got an email back to only tell me they won't have a number to call on as it's all done online. However my issue was that they have put me down as 3 claims, when it was 2 (1 I wasn't even in the car of, but because it was a hit and run situation they said it needs to go against me?!).. is all i wanted was to speak to someone to get the issue sorted. Also wanted a quote assessing before I brought a new car but again, has to be online...therefore you can't ask any questions with the price. Every reply you do to the emails they finally send you, you have to wait another 48 hours for them to get back to you. If you don't need to speak to them at all then they are perfect as they are cheaper than some,but when you have an issue, accident or query they are rubbish unfortunately. They are no help whatsoever. The second my insurance is up I shall be moving. I'd rather pay a bit more than be worrying non stop whether my information is correct and know I can speak to someone to actually resolve it.

Avoid!!! Disgraceful service no phone help or assistance... plenty other companies out there who will take my cash.... terrible website too

Simply impossible contact! I can't login to amend my policy or cancel it, but can get a new quote using my existing details. Absolutely abysmal service. Tried email, live chat, even desperate attempts to find a phone number all of which end up in claims dept who wont talk to you!! And this is how your treat loyal customers 😡

Don't make the same mistake as me As a first time driver, general accident was the cheapest option so I went with them despite the poor reviews I had read online. - I repeatedly received texts informing me I had been speeding, including one informing me I had somehow gone over 70mph on a day when the only driving I had done was a 5 minute Tesco run. There is no way to challenge these claims as it is not possible to contact the company after the first month of your cover. -My insurance ran out recently, I received no communication whatsoever and no renewal offer. My policy documents simply disappeared from the 'my account' page and that was it. - The app that is meant to be used to track your driving is horrendous, it constantly crashes and the information is not presented clearly which makes it very difficult to improve your driving to earn a better score. In addition, the scoring seems completely arbitrary I can drive like a saint and still earn poor scores. Edit: My policy just got cancelled for speeding, exactly seven days before it was due to end. Out of the kindness of their hearts, general accident is covering me for the next seven days (which I will have to pay for of course - as well as a £125 'administration' fee). I thought my opinion of this company could not get any lower but they are complete scum. I'll put the same information as my complaint below: My policy has been cancelled for speeding, suspiciously on the same date it was already due to end, the only difference now being I have to pay a £125 cancellation fee as well as the price for the next seven days of cover. I do not speed and after receiving the second notification on the 5th of March I sent an email to your customer support to find out when and where you claimed I was speeding I received no response I followed up this request for more information yesterday and was sent a cancellation email today. If I was speeding (which I am sure I have not been) a time and date would have been useful to help rectify this issue, simply telling me I was speeding 'at some point over the weekend' is useless in actually helping me address the issue, but I suppose that's the point. You are simply looking for a way to cancel the policy, charge the cancellation fee, making yourselves as much money as possible since you were already aware I would not be a returning customer.

Absolutely terrible customer service. Cant phone them. Cant log into site. 35 requests later I get a password reset which still doesn't work. My new car is at dealer and I cant collect it as unable to change vehicle details. STEER CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY!!

No call centre have been sending emails to change address but no one bothers to get back to me so looks like am not insured as I have not told these cowboys where I am living, will be using different insurance company next time

If you have The General Auto insurance, you better have a good lawyer on stand by. I was sitting at a red light and was hit by car going over 35 mph. My rear bumper was damaged and other car had their front destroyed . The General only will pay for half a bumper and half the paint, spoiler not covered. But my paint was all over her car. Body shops in my area do not want to work with the General . My car has been in the shop for 4 weeks. Very Bad insurance!

Cancelled my insurance due to speeding offences that took places when I have a telematics for work which says I've been driving fine. Their app states ive been driving fine as well with speed being exceptional! Worst insurance company going as there is no telephone number for customer services just an email. I've been having problems with the black box and they seem to not listen. A other way to con you out of money

Its a shame you cant leave 0 stars unbelievable, but at least I found that out before my policy started and cancelled. I wont bore you with the details but as others have said you can not speak to a real person and I suspect its overseas handling the email as they could not read a renewal notice from my current insurers correctly. I would GO ELSE WHERE AT ANY COST, wasted half a day dealing with a load of Idiots or perhaps one really good idiot via email. I will say that at least they did reply to the e mails which I suppose qualifies for one star. I do hope their managers look at this at at the very least thrash them within an inch of their lives.

What ever you do, do not insure your vehicle with this company. No telephone number is available to start off with, they do not contact you within the agreed time and I am honestly mortified that they have cancelled my insurance without giving me an explanation. They have told me I have been speeding when my app says my speed score is excellent and the only thing I can think that they have penalised me for is for letting my car stand when stationary. I advise you not to insure your vehicle with this company as it seems they will do anything to cancel your policy just to take your money and scan you over. I have now had to take legal actions and go through the ombudsman.

Seriously frustrating not to be able to telephone someone. I want to add a driver to my policy but GA system won't accept. Now I want to get a quote to change to my new car, but can't speak to anyone. VERY doubtful I will EVER use GA again.

really good to start with no over the phone help which is annoying. They dont take a pass plus in to consideration so not worth doing. Black box was good and didn't have problems but change after a year as insurance price goes sky high

I wouldn't have this insurance if my life depended on it ....a General customer hit my private property...the individual couldn't pay for it ,but they had the general for insurance...I called to file a claim with them ...their response was WE DONT PAY FOR PERSONAL PROPERTY ....HOW CAN YOU TEAR UP SOMEONES CULVERT SO THAT THE PROPERTY OWNER HAS TO FIX IT ???? WHY HAVE INSURANCE, WHAT IF THEY HAD HIT MY 40K TRUCK ??? IS THAT NOT PERSONAL PROPERTY???
