Service was great smart miles arrived and is working but giving me low scores for driving between 10pm and 5am unfortunately I am a hgv driver I start at 4am and have to drive 16 miles to work so what can I do also I'm 54 not a young driver it's bizarre

I'm sorry, this product is not suitable for those who need to drive frequently in those times as one of the core features is we keep you away from the most risk-heavy times. This in turn give you a great reduction in the renewal price if adhered to. SmartMiles is very useful for young drivers but is not exclusive just to let you know ~Joe?

Car insurance rates are competitive, my SmartMiles box arrived within a few days and I was kept informed of it's arrival date

My phonecall was answered almost immediately and the lady I spoke to was kind, explained everything clearly and we organised my cover renewal quickly and easily

Would have rated 5 stars but box has not arrived to be fitted under bonnet and only 2 days off the 14 days when it should be up and running! Sorting the insurance was easy and straightforward. Spoke with a young lady at your offices on Peterborough and she was kind, helpful and informative. All in all a good experience but still awaiting the box.

I found it impossible to get through to you by phone. i kept being asked to press a number depending upon what I wanted to talk about but whatever number I pressed I kept being asked to press another number and so on and on. In the end I gave up.

By doing as they said and getting my no claims bonus right before my renewal. Or at least get back to me about it so I could have changed it to direct debit before!

It was disappointing to find the lack of support and customer care when I contacted Hastings Direct SmartMiles and explained that I was having difficulty installing my black box. They refused to send an engineer unless I cancelled my policy and took out a new one with them, which is absolutely absurd. I would have rather paid the extra to insure my car with a company with better customer service.

Positives: price! As a new driver, I got a little C2 which was perfect but insurance was a nightmare - if it wasn't for Smart Miles I would've been looking at over ?2,500 which I could not afford. After a year it had halved which was pretty good but I decided not to reinsure due to moving to a city - so price was good (I paid yearly) Negatives: They charge ?90 to remove the black box. Know a mechanic? They hide it behind the dashboard so it's a reasonably big job for someone with no experience removing them. At least they don't want you to send it back. Also, I didn't want to reinsure and yet they still took the money, I rang and explained and they said they'll refund it and cancel the new policy. This was 16th May, I won't get my money back until 7th June. Also, if your score goes down it is pretty impossible to build it back up. When I first got my car for the first month only I drove at night to pick up my boyfriend from work. For the rest of the year it was maybe 3 times I went out at night driving, my time of day score was 10/100. The rest are the same, which is a problem if you are not 100% confident when you first start using your car! All in all, it was a cheaper insurance policy with little other choices, but there are definite areas they could improve on.
