Avoid at all costs. Still waiting 6 months after bike stolen for payout. Everytime you chase them up you get fobbed off with 'it's still being valued' etc

There was a mistake with my NCB with only counting 6 years instead of 7 years that I have. I was told that even with the change the policy would not be any cheaper, which when doing it myself on line it was. But with you already have my money for the full term so why would you refund anything. If I had known this I would have gone somewhere else as with the correct number of NCB applied there were cheaper insurers.

Your attitude at customer service is shocking. What happened to the customer is always right? You seem to have adopted if you don't like it then put up with it. The policy offered through a comparison site was not the police I ended up with and then you want to charge me 30 percent of the total to cancel the policy. I shall never use you again

I got verbally abused byou a member of staff and my insurance also shot up by £100 and no one could explain why. And no one seemed to care that I was called a cunt by a member of staff.

BEWARE OF COMPULSORY EXCESS WHEN PURCHASING ONLINE Not happy with MCE, watch out for their compulsory excess as I did not realise that they had set mine to £1050 with a voluntary £250, total £1300 which is the same value as my bike so hardly any point having comprehensive insurance. If it got stolen they would of paid out £100 only. It was not obvious that it was so high, I only noticed after paying my first payment and receiving documents, when I phoned them they admitted thats what they do so they make it to the top of the comparison websites. They changed my policy to third party f&t so that my total excess was only £250 and that was £30 more expensive than fully comp. To lower the excess to £250 with fully comp doubled the quote. After checking other companies for third party cover many where over £100 cheaper so I canceled my policy as I was still in cooling period and they will only refund me £8 of my first payment. So £72 for a weeks insurance...daylight robbery.

Insurance premium up 50% on this re-quote despite no changes at all to my details (except 1yr more experience, NCD, bike a year older). On querying it I was told it had risen 50% as it was kept in a steel garage rather than brick. This is the same garage it has been in on my insurance for years! at the same time as speaking to the advisor I did a comparison and MCE came up at roughly last years price (£126.29 cheapest). I brought this to his attention and apparently the comparison sites just check for a garage and do not distinguish between types so if I did it online my quote would be 50% cheaper and it would be kept in a 'garage' but my insurance would apparently be invalid because of a question the site doesn't even ask. However, buying it online meant that it is kept in a 'steel garage' which adds a ridiculous 50% to the premium from £126.32 (last year) to £210. How can this possibly be correct? As I had gone through the relentless questions I went with it this year but I certainly wont be next year. I sort my friends Fireblade insurance out for him as well so will be pulling that next month!

After 1 hour i renewed my insurance, and payed via phone, HSBC called me to ask if i subscribe for Amazon prime, i didn't, the details of my debit card was "cloned". The last payment before the insurance was 3 days before. I don't have any legal proof to point the finger against mce, but obviously a massive suspect. Nightmare experience.

I moved into a new apartment without an indoor parking in May 2016 and I asked for an extension of my insurance - to cover for theft. I asked explicitly over the phone whether I will be covered as of that day and MCE confirmed that. Within 48 hours my motorcycle got stolen, police had footage of the thieves from 3 CCTV cameras, the thieves were arrested, the motorcycle recovered - non repairable - and MCE started making all sorts of claims, not to pay. First claim was that I was not insured because the starting date was one day after my motorcycle got stolen. I rejected that and asked for the recorded phone call which they did not provide and after I was chasing them for some time they admitted I was right. Then MCE said I should undergo investigation since the motorcycle was stolen suspiciously close to the day I extended my insurance (reminder the thieves were in police custody). I underwent a 2 hours interrogation at home by Examworks, the company that MCE outsources all the investigations to. They then delayed the payment as they were claiming they were waiting for the police report that got stolen and although I provided them even the names of the police officers that had the CCTV and the officer that was calling me to inform me of the status of the trial of the thief, it was not enough. I waited for around 8 months until I said I will contact a lawyer. Nothing happened they ignored me. At around 10-11 months (I had already lost hope) i contacted them again and they told me that i am not covered since i was insured the day after my motorcycle was stolen. I told them to go again through the recorded phone calls. I followed the normal process of filing an official complaint with the aim of contacting the ombudsman as a second step. That is when they finally started doing some work and I received my money after almost one year a more than 20-30 phone calls (endless hours of waiting to speak to someone), numerous emails, document gathering, interrogation at home etc etc... Good luck if you are insured with MCE...

Don't buy from them. Their team gave me contradictory information when I wanted to cancel my existing policy and get a fast food delivery one. Charged me for the cancellation even though I was told before that there would be no charges. Spoke to a guy named Iain Forbes in business team. He was very, very rude. While doing the new policy, he actually twice threatened to cancel and not go forward because I asked him if I could wait until my existing policy runs out and at the end get the new one. He insisted that I pay the cancellation fee and buy the new policy that very day or he won't be proceeding with the application because, and I quote 'I kept him waiting for 15 minutes' while I was replying to his email with pics of my driving licence, CBT and NI No. Absolute disgrace how they treat their customers. Secondly, while setting up the direct debit, he asked me how my name appears on my account and I told him exactly how it does which he didn't like and said that he can't set it up unless its my full name on the direct debit mandate, to which I didn't have any issues. But he still showed that he annoyed by saying that he will cancel the whole process if its not my full name on the mandate.
