“I've never heard of Policy Expert and have a hesitation to purchase insurance through companies that are perhaps not known as mainstream. I found Policy Expert in a Compare the Market type website and Policy Expert, based on my circumstances were the cheapest. Cheapest is generally not the best, however after tailoring my quote to my requirements, Policy Expert were still the cheapest. I have had a look into the company and they have won various industry awards such as a 5 star rating from Defaqto (whatever that means) and have been around since 2011. I have read on their website PE insure around 380,000 homes so that's good enough for me. I couldn't find who they were underwritten by but I'm sure I could find it in the policy documents. In terms of the application form, it was very easy to fill out and I completed it in about 10 mins without too much head scratching on my part. Once paid, I logged into my account online and was very pleased by the immediate view of the timeline of my policy. It in fact tells you how long you have left of your term. That was very handy. The portal is very easy to navigate and there are phone lines (I believe UK based) and there's email and a chat function. There's not much more I can say about this as I hope not to use the service!!! One thing I wanted to do this year was to pay for the policy in one lump sum. Many companies including PE charge for the Direct Debit facility. Although the monthly amount may look small, it pays in the long run to pay in full. Hopefully that helps.”
