Never had a bad word to say until now, our washing maching rented by Hughes was in use and the glass broke on a cycle. When we went to empty we found it and had water and glass everywhere. Lucky it was in a back room with old flooring with concrete underneath, so after calling them and admittidly they was good and got a new one to be delivered in only two days, but then discovered my daughters clothes had holes in them from where it had continued to go around the cycle. I put in a claim for the receipts I could find but all I get back is a letter saying they believe it was done via a foreign object in the machine or before. I am disgusted because I am no liar and nothing was in the machine but the clothes as normal. I feel it just a normal case of they say anything to get out of paying out. Obviously a manufacturing problem with the glass not being stable as have had it over a year but their responsibilty still. I used to have only good things to say about them but am totally disgusted with the way the head office have been towards this. Be warned if you ever use them and have to claim. In reply to your comment I have been in contact with Director. After being told I could only claim for the stuff I had receipts for I found all the reciepts as I keep and even scan my receipts for everything. I sent them at the start and still got told it was a foreing object. I complained and got offered a much smaller amount. It is not a game, we pay extra for insurance when renting so you tell me what is the point when all we get is an excuse. Why should we pay when every excuse is made for them not to pay out. Sorry but I have cancelled my stuff and will never use again. I find it shameful that we are treated this way. I find it just pure greed. I have now bought outright after working out that the money I spend renting is much higher that buying them and even added monthly insurance on my products that even covers me for accidental damage. Will never rent from them again as works out much more when I could but outright each year and have decent cover. You loss Hughes.

Ordered a TV off them and it arrived smashed to pieces. Called them up and was told a new one would be sent and someone would be here to collect the damaged one. Then I receive an email saying they are out of stock so a refund will have to suffice. Twice I’ve been lied about what day the driver is coming to collect damaged tv. No sympathy or care for the customer/situation and terrible customer service. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone. This would’ve been resolved had I have bought from somewhere reputable like Argos, Curry’s etc. Avoid Hughes direct

Terrible customer services. Had a new machine come only 6days ago. Hughes customer services denied installing, when they did. Refusing to exchange when hoover have given an uplift number to be replaced. Its hell speaking to the customer services team, they actually are off the mark and go to irrelevant things. Plz never ever buy from this firm . They are horrendous

Terrible customer service from Hughes in Stowmarket, bought a washing machine, when the delivery men turned up to fit it (late), they wouldn’t install as it was located in a bathroom, information I had told the sales person in the shop. I complained to the customer service team who responded saying that the sales person denied having been told the location where the machine was being installed and wouldn’t accept my complaint, despite having a witness to the whole conversation. I have since bought a washing machine from another company and had it connected up by an electrician who advised that I had all the correct fuses for its location and had no issues at all. (it was also cheaper than Hughes) I have always tried to support local businesses but will never buy anything from Hughes again.

I bought a panasonic tv from hughesdirect on their ebay shop two months later its faulty and a return has been declined! save your money and go somewhere else as they are out and out daylight robbers. The wheel will turn and one day they will get theirs.

Will never use these again after an appalling after sales experience. We always like to use local smaller companies but sadly after our recent disappointing experience we shall never set foot into a Hughes again. This was their Beccles branch and we hope anyone looking to use them think twice and go elsewhere. They may as well have said "we have your money now so f**k off."

Bought two laptops for my flatmates. Price was 553.98 GBP per laptop and I got charged for them. I received the order confirmation and waited two days for the laptops. I phoned up to ask for tracking information and it turns out that my orders were cancelled (without any notification) because "security check failed", when my credit card issuer approved the transaction. When I asked to pay over phone with another card I was told I will have to order them online. Ok, sure, I went online and boom - price was different (around 630 GBP). I suppose somebody priced the laptop wrongly, and that's fine if that's the case, but it would have been appreciated if they told me the real reason for not sending the laptops. Woud NOT recommend!

Beyond appalling customer service. I was told to email my complaint to their sales department for a purchase made through eBay. I subsequently received several emails from some jobsworth called david telling me to direct my complaint elsewhere. Think very carefully before making a purchase through this company.

This is the shocking reply from the… This is the shocking reply from the director of Hughes following my continued Complaint my mum has dementia and she has been paying more money for an item that is cheaper brand new ! I contacted 02 to cancel my mums mobile phone contract which he had not used for 18 months and they apologised about my mums illness - nothing from this disgraceful director - would he treat his own mum like this ? Dear Mr Burton, I write further to your email dated 2nd September 2019 and our previous correspondence. Please refer to my letter dated 18th June which fully explains my final position in this matter. Yours sincerely, Neil Duncan | Director Hughes Electrical, Mobbs Way, Lowestoft, Suffolk, NR32 3AL

Appalling service with the elderly Once again. Shocking service from Hughes my mum has dementia and has been paying via direct debit more than the value of the goods - whilst in the process of obtaining power of attorney - they still chase us for outstanding money that is more than the value of the goods brand new which my mum has had for two years - they have breached data protection several times - then backtrack - and there director nigel does not have the decencey to reply to request for a phone call - morally this company is appalling ! And should be ashamed of themselves - it’s stressful enough having to deal with my mums illness

I bought a TV in the Black Friday sale through Hughes Direct for a new flat I had just bought. Due to delays in exchanging contracts on flat, I have only just moved in and when I opened the box, it was the wrong/smaller TV. I have now discovered there are 2 labels on the box, one for me and the TV I ordered, and one for another gentleman who lives 10 mins down the road. When I sent through pictures and spoke to their advisor on the phone, I was told that because it was past the 30 days returns period, they’d washed their hands with it even if it was their error. I understand the 30 day period but when I have sent pictures through (proving the error that was made) and the fact the TV has not been used - meaning no skin off their nose to take it back and send the correct TV - they really ought to do the right thing and exchange it. Note. Their customer service advisor (Mellisa) was arrogant and didn’t even do as much as apologise. Absolute shambles.

Ordered a new washing machine last week. Booked delivery for Saturday. On Saturday the courier calls to say they haven't received the item from Hughes therefore can't deliver. Hughes "customer service" are closed til Monday! Then no news until I call them on Monday. Again, was fobbed off with a "I'll investigate and call u back". Then nothing until the evening when again I call to be told the washing machine is "missing" and there's nothing they can do till Thursday! I asked for a refund, the man said fine n hung up... What a bunch of amateurs!! First and last experience thank you very much - one to avoid!! Following on from hughes' reply - not good enough!! Especially since I'd already got my old machine removed, ready and in anticipation of the one from Hughes that didn't arrive! No, your live chat was not active that Saturday, therefore that's a lie! Your customer service stinks. YOU losing stock, is YOUR problem, not mine. It's a huge washing machine, not a thimble!! And yes, you did issue a refund n I have gotten my money back, but not before I had to source alternative funds and pay for another machine and express delivery after your shambles!! I don't see u falling over yourself to compensate me for that??! Pathetic!

Buying from Hughes via Tesco the combination oven had a manufacturing fault. Hughes did not help they said go to Tesco, to to Panasonic for months the oven was not useable they deliver quick at your own expense. The do not comply with GDPR 2018 or DPA 2018 Then said send it to them they arranged collection and said it was damaged and blamed me but I packed it well even with air pillows, bubble wrap very tight they won’t claim against ACP the damage looked like physical damage caused by them parts I sent are missing. The staff are rude and will not even supply tracking for callectio. I lost money obviously fraud by Hughes

Awful customer service. Hughes claims to take customer service seriously. First, when ordering online, the final price kept mysteriously adding on £10 - even their online chat couldn't work out why. Second - delivery. Hughes staff gave us a delivery date and confirmed it was booked in. The logistics company then called us. We told them we'd had a delivery date confirmed by Hughes. Logistics said nothing booked in. Contacted Hughes. They told us logistics were wrong and confirmed delivery date. Another call from logistics. Another call to Hughes who once again confirmed a delivery date and told us to ignore the logistics company. Took the day off work. Phoned to find where the product was to be told it wasn't scheduled for delivering and never had been! Wrote a letter of complaint to Hughes. The replay stated that it was all due to miscommunication at their end and that they had given us the wrong information, but, as we had rearranged delivery and now had the product, they weren't prepared to compensate us for the day's holiday I took in order to be home for a non existent delivery.

Went in Sutton Coldfield electrical store. Enquirer about a product. 2 staff stood together. Both laughed. One said she'd never heard of the product and the other said you'd have to be old to remember one of those saying they don't sell in store anymore. She then just walked off. Rude. Felt embarrassed and won't be walking in store again any time soon ...
