Ottawa store, worst service ever. And do not use their delivery service, it is a nightmare. Things arrived broken, weeks to get things pick up again and refunded.

We ordered a couch and love seat in March 2018. We were given a delivery date of 04/18/18 which was about 2 1/2-3 weeks out from the day we purchased the items. We live over an hour away from Ikea and this was understandable. However, on April 18th our delivery date was changed to April 23rd, and then another email immediately followed stating the delivery date was now May 4. We've been on hold with Ikea for OVER AN HOUR and they are not claiming responsibility since they use a third party delivery company. The Ikea representative also said that a refund would take 20-30 business days, at the least. This purchase was over $1,000.00 and this is poor customer service. Ikea has not offered a delivery charge refund or gift card for our trouble as they have to others who are experiencing this same problem. When we called the third-party delivery company, they said they "needed time" and for us to call back so they can plan on a date to deliver. We will NEVER purchase from Ikea ever again online or in-store if this is how they take care of their customers.

I placed an online order on March 24 to replace bedroom furniture lost in a house fire. The estimated delivery date was April 4. I called on April 4 and no one could locate my order. The same issue every day between April 4 and April 13, when finally a manager said she would personally handle my order. Still no word about where the order was, or where the manager was, on April 16, so I cancelled the order. Now it's April 30, and IKEA has still not refunded the $1849 that they took out of my account on March 24. Poorest customer service ever.

Absolutely appalling situation. In Canberra the order was not completely filled for an on-line purchase. The help line was unanswered and cut me off after about 15 minutes when it offered to take my number for a call-back every time I phoned. My kitchen is under construction and there is no way I can obtain the missing items and no way of knowing how long it will take for the missing items to return to the shelf. It has been 7 weeks. A lady in front of me at the in-store Service Desk was having a meltdown because of a similar problem. It turns out there is no back-ordering system to ensure the missing items are filled. All orders are picked off the shelf and stock is replenished like a supermarket. If your item is not there at the time then you do not get it. I had to periodically check if the item was again on the shelves. I spent two hours trying to contact the help line. I was always cut off after 15 minutes or so with the option to leave my number.

My husband and I ordered a bed to be delivered from Ikea, as there is not one close to our new home. Our bed was scheduled to be delivered, but the day came and past and nothing arrived. The following day, I called Ikea's customer service, was on hold for over an hour, and when I finally talked to someone they apologized and said the bed frame was not lost, but "it was on a truck somewhere, and we don't know where that truck is". When I asked how soon my bed would arrive, they also said they didn't know and that it would probably come within the week. A week passed, and still nothing came. All the while my delivery status still said the original date the product was to be delivered, and not once did someone reach out to me. Each time I wanted info on my bed, I had to call Ikea and wait an absurd amount of time on hold, to talk with a person who could give me no answers. We had let this go on for 17 days, but my husband and I were fed up, so we called Ikea and said that because of these issues we no longer wanted our bed. They gave us a full refund, but I doubt we will be shopping there anytime soon, and I will NEVER order anything online from them again. Terrible customer service.

They messed up and lost the order that I paid for for my countertop then once they had found it they had put me three weeks behind on the due date for my kitchen which was supposed to be a surprise for my wife when she came back home rather than try and make it right they actually wanted to charge me more money and would not help me to put an expedited thing on the order with stone Solutions the company that was procuring and making and installing the countertop they had also went so far as to tell me they could not even find my order until I pulled up my bank records showing them where I paid the money other than that I would have never gotten countertop and would have been out over $2,000 Ikea in my way of thinking is very incompetent and the only thing that they can say is oh we are so sorry I wish I had read reviews before I had done these transactions with Ikea I can only hope that someone reads this and the others

Yikes, I wish I would have read these reviews before I agreed to having my IKEA order delivered. Same situation as the 67% of reviews below. Have a delivery date, no one shows, delivery to be rescheduled. Do not even try to call the IKEA customer support center unless you are prepared to wait over an hour before someone picks up the phone. If you are lucky enough to speak to someone after you have provided your information and concern, just be prepared they will not come back on the line. I am a nurse and have lost an entire day of work because I "thought" I would get my purchased as promised. The delivery contract you sign states you will be charged a fee if you reschedule your delivery. What happens when IKEA fails on their promise? Absolutely nothing!

Is there a way to give negative stars? The whole ordeal has been a nightmare. Ordered 3 pieces of bedroom furniture that was to be delivered in March 10th. Delivery was cancelled due to weather. Rescheduled for the 24th, they called to say that 2/3rds if the order was missing. Rescheduled again for the 30th. They never called or showed up. 2 days of missed work for no furniture. Here we are end of April, no furniture, no contact. No answers to my emails, messages, written letters etc. Not able to get thru on the phone. Out $426.00. Never again will I order online or deal with Ikea again. Buyer beware!

IKEA has terrible customer service. They don’t respond to emails and if you call, be prepared to be on hold for over an hour. It won’t matter, anyway, because your issue won’t be taken care of. I will never do business with them again.

I should have read the reviews before I placed an online order with IKEA. We've been getting the run around with our delivery date. It's been pushed back 4 times. Having to request time off and having to change 4 times is NOT OK. We are now 3 weeks past our original delivery date and have no sleeper sofa for our guests. I was told the delivery service IKEA uses is called STI. Someone at IKEA needs to really get with the person in charge at STI to resolve all these delivery issues. I can understand setbacks but this is ridiculous and seeing all the negative feedback regarding this company proves that. How is this delivery company still being used by IKEA??

Ikea, I have been a loyal customer of yours for years, and across 4 states. Even in times when I had to travel hours to get to a store. Love their concept, love their products. Love, Love, Love. I was so incredibly thrilled when you decided to build a store less than an hour from my home. Well, Ikea, you have betrayed that loyalty and I now know that for all the greatness of your physical store and products, your customer service SUCKS. Last weekend we went to our local store, which is at least 45 minutes away. Not exactly local, but certainly close enough for a well-planned weekend shopping trip. We picked out the bunk bed set that we had been wanting for our 7 year old son and were so excited to finally purchase it, set up delivery, and also splurge for the assembly (my husband has a terrible back and this set is quite heavy). We worried about what to do with my son's old bunkbed (also an Ikea product that he has just outgrown). The very nice young man in the pickup and delivery center told us not to worry, if we could not get someone to take the bed just CALL IKEA and for $25 we could add on the takeaway service. In fact he advised us NOT to add it then because it would be nearly impossible to take off later if we did not need the service. So this afternoon I tried to call you, Ikea (and by the way the 1-888-888-4532 number is BOGUS. "all circuits busy" all day long? what's that all about?). I found another number that has a different prefix than the "888" and got to speak with a very nice Ikea person on the phone who informed me that there is absolutely NO WAY to (1) change an order over the phone, (2) pay for anything over the phone, or (3) call into any physical Ikea store. The ONLY way to change anything or add anything is to physically go back to the actual Ikea store. I am very sorry, Ikea, but this is the biggest bunch of ridiculousness EVER. There is literally NOTHING I can do now except figure out how to get this other bed out of my house on my own OR drive 45 minutes to the store and pay to have it taken away (which is unfortunately not an option this particular week, before the scheduled delivery). This simply should not be an issue. Ikea, you win the award for the WORST and most IMPRACTICAL customer service EVER. It is ironic considering how your entire company and concept is built on principals of efficiency, convenience, and practicality, not to mention ethics. Are you KIDDING me? I cannot wait to see what happens on Sunday when we are supposed to get our delivery and have it built. I am very worried that this will also NOT be what it was sold as. I cannot even express how utterly disappointed I am in you, Ikea. Thanks.

Was told order shipped March 28; it’s now April 15 and no order. Have called MULTIPLE times and been given the run-around. Was told order would be delivered tomorrow from the local store and that we would get a call tonight confirming time. It’s now 830 pm and NO CALL. when I called was told wait time would 2.5 hours! IKEA DELIVERY IS A JOKE!! Hate this company and WILL NEVER BUY FROM THEM AGAIN!!

Absolutely will never order from IKEA Online again, and in fact, the customer service has been so terrible that I don't think I will ever actually buy anything from IKEA in the future. I've spent at least 4-5 hours on hold, from trying to change my order, to getting it delivered, to returning it all, because my order was incorrect and they would not split the order. After I returned my order, I was waiting for my refund, which I assumed would be put on my credit card. Then I get emails saying that there was a new attempted delivery, then the delivery was not successful, then the delivery was made, except it's a phantom delivery because I was never home. No one ever contacted me by phone, no messages, nothing. Now I'm concerned about whether I'll get my money back at all, and will have to contact my bank if this does not get resolved. This is such a nuisance, hard to deal with how incompetent IKEA is.

Bought products from Ikea yesterday. Purchased delivery and assembly. Said they'd be out today from 10-2. Didn't show up until after 3. Told my husband they only delivered. No assembly. Left disassembled items all over house. Husband tried to call the number on Ikea order/receipt. Invalid number! When I came home from work, tried that number and another one from when they called about delivery earlier. Was on hold for 15 minutes, got a busy signal and disconnected. Tried to find another number. Website had many more invalid numbers. Finally found one. Called and was told wait time was 101 minutes. I'm currently on minute 60. Unbelievable. Tried to email. Tried to chat. Both "unavailable" on website. I can't believe this is a professional business.

Wow--I have been in retail for 20+ years and I cannot believe my experience with Ikea. For such a large company they have horrific systems and policies. I have never had to work so hard to give a company money. We are redoing a cottage on our property and decided on Ikea for the cabinets because we didn't want to spend a ton of $ (after spending too much on plumbing fixtures!) and we liked the look of Ikea's glossy fronts. I drove 90 min to get to a store and spent 5 hours there looking at kitchen examples and getting help designing my kitchen on the ikea website. The ladies that worked in the kitchen area were okay but not overly friendly. This didn't bother me but instead of ordering at the shop I decided to order online which they said "was easy." BIG MISTAKE! I came home and finished my design and then expected to be able to put my list of items (that were generated from my kitchen design) into the cart. NO! This was not possible so I called Ikea and had to wait for 60 minutes before I received a live person. This person was also somewhat rude, but she did help me thru the process and put my order in for me. Great--I was finished--right?? NO! My credit card company declined the charge because they thought it was fraudulent. So, I received an email and I assumed I'd be able to contact my credit card company and resubmit my info by clicking back on my order. NO! Once a card is declined, the order is DELETED (literally)! There is no way to get back to it so I called again assuming someone could help me do this more easily. This time I went directly to sales (not kitchen sales) and the phone was answered relatively quickly. The person tried to transfer me and make me wait again and I asked for a manager. She seemed to empathize with me and put me on a brief hold to talk to her manager. She told me that her manager was going to work on my order and would call me back in no more than 30 minutes. 60 minutes goes by and still no return call. I tried again and was told the same thing..they'd call me. Finally I gave up and my husband and I went out to dinner. I had worked at my desk and waited for 2.5 hours and was incredibly frustrated. All I wanted to do was to pay for my order!! Finally--still no call (never came)--I get home and there is a payment link in my email. Great--I go to pay and this time I pay with my business card to make sure it will go thru. There is no option to change billing address, so I didn't think about this. Go to bed and am psyched all is finished. I wake up in the morning to find that AGAIN my credit card declined and this time because my billing address was not correct. OMG -- I was never (on the phone or in the computer) asked to verify my billing address. Back to square one. FINALLY--I decided to print out my original order and hand key my order back into the online store myself. I realize that it is no use to call customer service because they don't understand the meaning of SERVICE and their systems are so archaic that they delete orders when a credit card is declined. I had a 16 page order (yes--$12K) and I almost walked away but I had invested so much time into the endeavor I was determined to make it work. Now, of course, I've read the nightmare shipping stories from other consumers and am terrified that we'll have issues on that end, too, but I am crossing fingers and hoping for a miracle. After this I will literally NEVER order another ikea item. Their processes make no sense because they totally inconvenience their customers. In this day and age, these issues should be EASY FIXES. Ikea--spend some $ and fix these ridiculous glitches. I am way too busy to do this again!! I guess it's true...you really do get what you pay for. Ikea's prices are really good, but their integrity and customer service is the pits!! Good luck everyone.

Even rating Ikea with 1 star is too much, for online Ordering and screwing up an order with no ability to contact and resolve, 76 minute wait time on the phone, finally get someone to answer who then tells you after you state the issue that you "reached the wrong department", places you on hold and then get an automated message that the department you are calling is closed and disconnects you, please try again later. I ordered a Bekant Computer Desk online, all went well till it never showed on the estimated date, was 3 days later, then when it did show only 1 of 2 boxes arrived, the box that arrived was the desktop, no underframe, multiple attempts to reach Customer Service via e-mail and over the phone turned into 1 to 2 hour waits with nobody answering, 7 days to get an e-mail response and and my bank told me they cannot do anything about it so now I'm stuck with a $200 particle board table top that is useless unless I run to the local Home Depot and get some 2 x 4's and make my own desk. How Ikea even is in business or is allowed to be in business with this type of SCAM is beyond words, AVOID AT ALL COST!
