This was my first time ordering furniture online with Ikea, and I absolutely do not recommend it. We will never be ordering anything from this company again, and at this point would not even consider buying in store. Our experience was so disappointing. We spent $925.00 on two loft beds on February 23, 2017 (order #246328923). I ordered online and the only positive thing about this experience was that the process to use their website is very simple, however, there is no guarantee that any items will actually be delivered to your home, which makes the ease of using their website completely pointless. I received an email February 26, 2017 stating that the items had been shipped from the Ikea distribution center. I was under the impression Ikea would be delivering to my home, but they use external delivery companies to do this, this one inparticular is apparently called STI (but was taken over by a different company I have never been given the name of). On March 10, 2017 I received an email stating that my delivery date had been scheduled and that I “would receive a phone call to schedule delivery date and to provide a 4 hour time window”. This all happened as planned, on March 14 I received a phone call, met the truck at my home, arrived to them parked at the bottom of my driveway. They were in a 30ft truck which the driver said was a rental so he did not want to drive it up the driveway. We explained to him that we had a 35ft truck up the driveway a month before and were able to turn it around at the top. He would not walk up the driveway to look at the turn-about and then said that he could leave the crates of 16 boxes at the bottom of the driveway for us to walk them up to the house. We paid $100.00 just for the delivery to our home, we expected DELIVERY TO OUR HOME, not the bottom of the driveway. We decided to call Ikea and reschedule. Huge mistake. We have been going back and forth with Ikea and this delivery company for 9 weeks and still have not received our loft beds, there has not even been another attempt to deliver them. The delivery company rescheduled delivery with us over the phone on 6 different occasions, which I took off work for each of these days, and they never showed up and no one called. When I would call them, they put me on hold for no less than 30 minutes, sometimes nearly an hour, just to get back on the phone and say they never had a delivery scheduled for that day but could schedule one then on the phone, and then the same thing would happen again, no-show no-call. They did this over and over again with no intention of attempting delivery because after this went on for over a month, I finally got someone on the phone at Ikea (Cherise) that contacted this company's corporate office, a two hour phone call resulting in us finding out they had lost the items. After this, I received an email from Ikea stating that we needed to pay another delivery fee because the company said that we were not home when they attempted delivery! This was handled quickly and I did not have to pay an additional fee, but was shocked that Ikea was using a delivery company that was so dishonest and manipulative! Here's some information on Ikea's customer service....they are very friendly and get absolutely nothing accomplished. I can't even count all the phone calls I had with Ikea, on hold for hours and hours, only to have a representative get on the phone with the delivery company, they would lie to Ikea, and Ikea rep said there was nothing else they could do. The one phone call I had with Cherise was the ONLY productive phone call and she actually noticed that something wasn't right and took the time to figure it out. After this phone call when we discovered they had lost the products, Ikea refunded me $100.00 for delivery charge and shipped out a second order. (order #250061148) The second order was shipped from the distribution center on May 10, 2017 via the same delivery company. I received an email the following day, May 11, stating that the order was ready to be delivered and I would receive a phone call in 2-3 days. Fast forward to May 17, still had not heard from delivery company so I called Ikea again...waited on hold for 47 minutes before even speaking to a person, again....they contacted delivery company, again, and delivery company said they would call me within 48 hours..again. They did call and scheduled the delivery for May 18, 2017 with a time window of 2pm-6pm. I had not heard anything at around 4pm so I called the delivery company to check the status. The woman Darlene that answered the phone (the same one that scheduled the delivery with me the day before) said that they did not have any deliveries scheduled in Chattanooga for that day but she could schedule a future date with me over the phone, put me on hold. A man, Daniel, picked up and I explained to him what had been going on and he said they had a truck in Chattanooga at that moment but for some reason my delivery was not on it and when he looked in the system, someone had gone in and cancelled my delivery at 5pm the day before (after it had been rescheduled). This company is definitely up to something, at worst illegal, at best shady. And Ikea is no better, having a company like this delivering products to customers and then not remedying the messes that have been created. I will not do this for another 3 months (or indefinitely) with Ikea company and this delivery company. We have shopped at Ikea in the past and used their products in our home, but after this experience we probably never will again. We live about 2 hours from the Atlanta store and wish we would have just taken a trip up there and purchased them in-store. We debated doing that if we ever get our money back, but really have no desire to give this type of company our money, so we have found similar loft beds and honestly, better quality, at a local store. Ikea just isn't worth it. Period. This experience has been a nightmare. To give a company $1000 and in return, have no assistance or concern for their customer (over an issue that was created by a company they chose to do business with) and no product received in return for that money, it's not only ridiculous, it's bad business.

Great range of products, all at a reasonable price. Needed coat hangers, and they have sturdy wooden ones; much better for the clothes and they all look the same in the wardrobe now!

I had an issue with parts on a dresser and I'm sure you could imagine how unhappy a person might be in the middle of assembling furniture and forced to placing a call to customer service. The representative was wonderful, apologetic and resolved the problem. I wish every company had people that helpful.

Placed an order on-line, was given a delivery date. I hesitated in placing the order as they require someone to sign for it upon arrival, but thought I can rearrange one day and make it work. I arranged my schedule to be home from work, the best they can do is a four hour window 12-4. After 12:00 I received a call, at least they called, that "the truck broke down" and delivery will be Tuesday. I asked if the item could be left without a signature, I clearly stated, "I'm giving you my permission to leave it" I will leave a signed note on the door saying the same, but they refused. Someone has to sign!!! I will not order again!!! Amazon, Target, Walmart, the US mail, etc. all leave packages.

I'd read bad reviews of buying Ikea online (as opposed in their stores). But their crazy good prices seduced me. At the end of December 2016, I ordered some bedding. After the estimated arrival date came and went with no package, I called them. I was told my package was "lost." FedEx lost it and I'd have to call them to find out any more. I said "huh? What? Isn't that your job?" The rep said "no, it's not." I said, "I've never heard of the customer having to call the shipping company themselves." We went back and forth like this until I asked if there was someone else could talk to. She transferred me to someone who spoke more like a regular customer service person -- apologized for what the other person had said; told me she'd look into it; came back a few minutes later and said a new order would be shipped to me. Two weeks later it arrived. I was very ill at the time. Was not able to open the package until three months later to discover that two thirds of my order, which I'd long ago paid for in full, of course, was not there. It took me four not short phone calls to get the money for the unsent items refunded to me. It also felt like I was calling a place that had not upgraded in 25 years. I think they had computers? But I couldn't swear to it. I don't know what the deal is, how the world's largest furniture retailer can be so crap with online orders. Don't be seduced by their prices! Not worth it! I'd have been better off going in person and being forced to walk that huge concrete circle. Though, I have to say, the online experience makes me want to go to their stores even less.

I bought an IKEA kitchen at the Richmond, Australia store for a client. It had a KARLBY timber veneer benchtop just like the kitchen on display. Before buying the kitchen, I was concerned about water given that it included a sink and tap (as a kitchen does). Three times I was assured by different Ikea assistants that there was no problem with a KARLBY timber veneer benchtop in an environment where it could get wet. In fact I was told no treatment was required to protect the veneer benchtop. The installation instructions and KARLBY timber veneer notes made no mention about protecting the product from water. Within two weeks of the kitchen being installed the KARLBY timber veneer benchtop started bulging and staining near the sink. Once I was advised of the problem I contacted IKEA and was informed that it was not a design problem but a user problem. This came as a shock to me as I never saw any written advice (and IKEA customer support still hasn't presented any) to say that KARLBY timber veneer isn't suitable for a wet area. I then went back to the Richmond store and asked an IKEA assistant in the Kitchen department if there was a problem with using the KARLBY timber veneer around a sink. The assistant looked up the instructions and told me there wasn't. The assistant gave me an IKEA brochure describing the KARLBY timber veneer installation and maintenance requirements. Again there was no mention of water. This assistant agreed that I had a very strong case and urged me to take it up again with IKEA customer support. The following is the advice the Ikea customer support provided as the reason they would not consider supporting their Karlby timber veneer product: "The guarantees do not apply to products that have been stored or assembled incorrectly, used inappropriately, abused, misused, altered, or cleaned with the wrong cleaning methods or wrong cleaning products. The guarantees do not cover normal wear and tear, cuts or scratches, or damage caused by impacts or accidents." It still does not mention anything about getting some water on a kitchen bench! But they closed the case anyway. They also are very confused and poorly informed about the maintenance procedures for the solid timber and timber veneer benchtops so be VERY careful if you still want to buy this product. The IKEA customer support also sent conflicting information about IKEA benchtops so I did not have any confidence in the information they sent. I used to be very confident about using and recommending IKEA. I also mistakenly thought that IKEA supported their products. Now I do not use their products any more and actively warn every one of my experience.

I ordered a wardrobe for my daughter. It was delivered late and with a broken piece. I called IKEA and after 47 minutes I was told a replacement piece would be sent and I would get email confirmation, it never came. I tried calling again, but after 17 minutes on hold had to hang up due to an appointment. Boxes are parts have been covering her room for over 2 weeks now without an end in sight.

I have been holding on for decent sized order as Ikea system does not reflect the dresser that is in stock. 2+ hours of phone interaction sumised this issue. Issue has not not been resolved, emails and calls not returned. Ikea can go pack sand. I found another outlet source that is half the cost. June 1st i am renovating a 119 room hotel. NONE of your products will be part of the decor.

I purchased a laundry basket on wheels. Two of the screws did not have threads. They had scratch lines where the screws threads should be but no threads. Called customer service - wouldn't send me a replacement for the faulty screws. They aren't standard screws so I couldn't find a suitable replacement at the hardware store. I ended up just throwing the laundry basket away and buying one from Bed, Bath & Beyond. Risky to shop at Ikea - prices may be good, but not if you can't use what you buy.

Ordered a kitchen and told that the sink is not in at this time, that was February. The store tells me it may take several months that's right months. To this day it's still not in. What real scum bags. The founder I can tell must have been a real scumbag himself because they leave people hanging for months and then when you say you like to order from another store they tell you we don't operate that way so basically it's okay to screw people over make them wait.. Funny I questioned the countertop people about placing the order when I do the countertop and Ikea charges $40 for each flight of stairs yet the company doesn't see any part of that money that's just a scam Again by the scumbags of Ikea

We were in charge of breakfast at a rally of motor homes in Tampa. To make a break in the routine of preparing scrambled eggs and frying bacon for 30 people at the clubhouse, I checked with the food service lady a few days ahead to see if they'd accommodate us. Lorie was most accommodating. She agreed to serve the $1 special with coffee and I was to count our club members at checkout and then pay for their food. The group breakfast was a big success. Lorie had briefed the cashiers, getting the food and drink went smooth as silk and they did the counting. The bill was prepared as the last of us passed the checkout, and she had reserved a section for us to sit together. Miss Lorie made good preparations, and because the majority of attendees had never been to IKEA before, the Company was a winner as well.

Everything about Ikea is wrong, worst service ever. We have been trying to get items delivered as the original pieces were broken, We have to spend hours on the phone to even talk with someone and them we get cut off. I can't believe how bad this company is in the US, meanwhile we still don't have our pieces which we paid for.

Shocking service! I had a small simple kitchen planned by Ikea last October and it was disaster from the start. The problems I experienced are far too much to relate here. The planner was inexperienced and had to return to my property weeks later to start again as there were so many errors. The installation which was outsourced was good as the fitters were very experienced although I was overcharged by their installation company when a simple alteration was advised by their electrician. Also, wrong parts were sent for the cooker fan and a wrong cupboard. No, I do not advise anyone using Ikea to plan their kitchen as planners are inexperienced and there is no communication between Ikea and the installing company and it is the customer left in the middle without their kitchen completed six months down the line. They take your money and then leave you asking for some sort of service which you just don't get. I don't think they even take any notice of reviews either.

I am 51 years old. I would give zero stars if this interface allowed. I have NEVER, EVER received worse customer service than with IKEA. I have called 14 times now, and wasted at least as many hours on the phone, and had only ONE SIMPLE ORDER from the beginning. The consistent incompetence, rudeness, ignorance, irresponsibility, obtuseness, and obstinance I encountered with every single IKEA representative who has claimed to send the parts package that I need to assemble my IKEA couch, and then failed to follow up and return my calls and repeatedly sent the wrong parts WHEN I’VE READ THEM – PART NUMBER BY PART NUMBER – OVER THE PHONE, four times now!, is beyond comprehension. FOUR TIMES NOW YOU HAVE SENT THE WRONG PARTS, AND 14 CALLS AND AT LEAST AS MANY HOURS ON THE PHONE LATER, AND I CANNOT PUT THE COUCH TOGETHER THAT I PAID FOR. We have so many ‘case numbers’ from these calls I cannot list them all. Not a single promise made by your representatives regarding returning phone calls, sending the right parts, WHEN they’re sending (the wrong) parts, when they’ll be at work to take my calls, has been kept. You have not told the truth a single time, to the point of illegal and disgraceful misrepresentation. You are in the process of building a store 10 minutes from us (Jacksonville, FL), and we are notifying both our local and state consumer protection bureaus, repeatedly, along with the appropriate federal consumer protection agencies. We now have Emails for the president of IKEA US (Michael Ward) and most of your board of directors. They will be notified, repeatedly, as of today. So you had better send us the parts – THE RIGHT PARTS – to the couch that we have already paid for TODAY, 4/1/17.
