Scam. Fraud. Don’t buy. Take your money and don’t send anything. Cannot believe this is even possible.

Same story as others bad experiences cited. I ordered items that never came. When I called to ask for a refund they said the items were no longer in stock, though I could clearly see they were still selling them on their website. I was in a chat for a while until they just stopped responding, so I tried calling. They picked up the phone and held it up in the air so i could hear the other operators, but no one actually answered the phone, then they just picked up the phone and hung up. So I disputed the charge through my bank. As I was looking for the charges to initiate the fraud claims, I came upon another charge they had made to my account, which had no order number attached to it! I remember making the order, but it didn't go through (I thought) so I tried again. Anyway, long story short, I was finally refunded for both charges, and was informed by the chat person, that I would no longer be able to order from them since I had requested a chargeback!!! Heheh as if I would want to do business with them ever again. These people should be investigated by the Attorney General's office in each state they do business, which is presumably all 50 states. If you are a victim of this, contact your state's Attorney General.

Absolutely horrendous customer service. It's from the dark ages, and I have never seen a company with such a bad rating. The reviews are almost universally one star and you can't easily find the reviews at the site. I had to Google to find them. My wife bought me a duster for around $405.00 in June. It was for my birthday, which was at the end of September. She bought it early to assure it was here in time for my birthday. It sat in the box till then. I tried it on and the fit was no good, so she called to return the item. Peterman's return policy is 60 days and they absolutely refused to either refund the cost of the purchase or even grant a store credit. Granted, they disclose their 60-day return deadline, but, these days, most companies are trying to keep their customers happy. The item is in its original box, has been tried on once, is in mint condition, but is worthless to me. Shame on you J. Peterman. From the reviews, it is clear we are not alone in our unhappiness. Maybe I should hang the duster in the front yard and write "J. Peterman sucks, don't do business with them." Maybe I will.

Have purchased at least six dresses from J Peterman over the past few months. They're a little expensive, but the quality is very good. Hems and stitching are almost invisible, the patterns are matched so well. Sizing seems a little inconsistent, though. Also, the company charges for its outbound shipping plus a fee on returns even if the garment doesn't fit. I very much like the style and quality, but knocked off two stars for the combined effect of inconsistent sizing and a return fee. Hope to continue purchasing from J Peterman in the future.

This company has the worst Customer Service. I ordered a $200 jacket for a special trip. The delivery information stated that I should receive within a week Priority Mail. It did not arrive before my trip but when I returned a month later, I was billed on my credit card but still had not received the merchandise. I had to call J Peterman Customer Service who explained that the jacket was no longer available and they would process a refund. If the jacket was no longer available so why was I charged in the first place? Most companies charge when the item is shipped. The fact that I HAD TO CONTACT THEM to inquire about the status of my order, only to discover it was out of stock, is disturbing (no email, no call/text from them). And the fact that only when I contacted them, did they process a refund - simply an absurd way to conduct business. This is a terrible company and I will never order from them again. No matter how appealing the clothes are - BEWARE!

It is the same old story. They don't tell people that they don't have items. They take my money for the item they don't have and may never have and my money for a tax I may not owe and my money for shipping that may never occur. Their telephone person in customer disservice said that this is just how it is. Your person in chat said that this is just how it is and signed off immediately. They are taking money on false pretenses and should pay interest.

I purchased a wallet made out of baseball glove leather. The product looks great and I love it.

I order an item and after 5 days I did not receive the item via 2 day shipping via UPS as stated in their shopping. My order status stated that they did not have a tracking number yet. I called for a status and was told the item was out of stock. When I ordered the item on line at www.guideboat.com it did not state the item was out of stock, back ordered or on a waitlist. I asked for a refund and I was told that it would take between 21-30 days to receive a refund. I asked them why they were holding my money for an item I never received and is out of stock. The customer service rep referred me to a supervisor. I spoke with a person (don't know if it was a supervisor) and asked him why are they holding my money for an out of stock item? He said it is their policy to refund within a billing cycle. I asked him to refund me immediately. He then said it could take 5-7 days for me to receive the credit. I stated that if I don't receive the refund my next call will be to my bank, consumer protection, State's Attorney's Office, and BBB. I received a notice via email from The Peterman Co that a refund was being processed. We will see if I receive the actual refund within 7 days. I recommend not doing business with this company due to their refund policy and holding your money for 30 days. They get use of your funds before you do. Who knows maybe they are having financial issues and using other peoples money to pay their expenses. This seems to be a rip-off and unfair to the consumer. Also. just a thought, if a company claims bankruptcy, I will never see my $248.

I used to love the clothing they made, but recently the quality and consistency, including sizing consistency, has plummeted. When I tried to exchange my items, they never acknowledged my return, made using their own shipping label, and they refused to refund me part of my purchase. Their customer service is terrible and many of my orders have left out items or even included items I never ordered.

My bad for placing an order with this lame company before reading the reviews. However, I did. One of the items I selected (of 3) was on back order. They didn't tell me that at any time during the selection or ordering process. After waiting 6 days and receiving no indication my order had shipped, I sent an email, which went unanswered. I followed up by asking through their website. At that time I was told an item was on back order. I told them the practices they used were unsat and asked to have my order cancelled. They said they would, but refunding my money could take up to 14 days. Why? They darn sure took my money instantly when I placed the order. Why can't they refund it quickly upon a cancellation? The answer is simple, they keep the money in their account (probably thousands of dollars in refunds), so they can continue to earn interest at the expense of their customers). In my opinion, this practice is criminal and these folks should be ashamed of their sleazy behavior.

Stuff is never in stock. There is stuff for sale on their website that had not been available for over a year. They need to police their website and regularly update their stock. Prices are too high.

My comments echo the sentiments of other dissatisfied customers. 4/18/21: Ordered a dress, received as promised 4/23/21: Returned item at my expense via FedEx as dress very heavy & did not fit properly. I paid for the postage & did not utilize their postage fees. 6/07/21: Called J. Peterman as never received acknowledgment of the return or credit to my credit card. 6/08/21: Received email notifying me of credit which was less than I tendered to them originally. Phoned again & after lengthy delay, was informed a $8.95 "restocking fee" was substracted from the total. I rechecked the website, the order form, & their catalog & I could not find anywhere that mentioned a "restocking fee". Honestly, I do not believe I would have received any amount of refund, if I had not called them. There was sufficient time, after they received the return item, to credit my credit card and the unknown "restocking fee" was a real irritation & frankly, unacceptable. I do not know what has happened to this company! The items I ordered from them in the 80's & early 90's were high quality and very unique, accompanied by outstanding customer service. I was unaware they were still in existence until I was searching the Internet for a spring dress & stumbled upon them. Initially, I was thrilled; not so anymore. I am done & it appears J. Peterman is as well.

I used to be a frequent customer & still receive the catalog but every time I check reviews the bad business habits & shoddy financial picture doesn’t change . My question is why does Peterman still exist unless it’s to earn interest off extremely delayed refunds.

I am so disappointed with them- Petermans used to be great quality and customer service. I bought the seat sucker suit - wrong size and really cheaply made and took it to fedex the same day to return. Three weeks passed no refund contacted customer service they had no record of the return so I had to find my receipt gave them the number (btw I tracked the number it had been signed for and received the next day) - received an email yhee we next day the suit had been found and a ticket was issued- and stated the process would take 4 to 6 weeks for a refund. What a sham I’ll never shop with them agsin

Total scam company, order a jacket in March 27th, the i was emailed the following "Unfortunately, due to unexpected customer demand for this item, our inventory was depleted prior to your order being processed and there is no listed restock date." I requested to be refunded, but then was told it would take 3 weeks, as of May 18th NO REFUND Do NOT purchase from this company!!!

Ordered two items that were "in stock" at the beginning of February. Turns out one item was back-ordered. I received the other but sent it back to exchange for a different size that was in stock. After one month of waiting, I emailed them. Clearly my exchange slip had been lost, and I was informed that the size I wanted was out of stock, even though it had been in stock when I sent the item back for exchange. I was promised a refund within 7-10 business days and that my refund was marked "high priority." 17 business days later and no refund. This company and its business practices are disgusting and shameful.

This company is a Seinfeld episode. Bought a few shirts. Returned 3 that didn't fit properly. Value of returns $225. Here's the timeline: January 30, 2021 --Shipped back to them February 3, 2021 --Delivery to Peterman confirmed by FedEx March 31, 2021 --Called Peterman. Rep confirmed merchandise was received. Said he would process credit. May take 5 days for it to be credited to my card. April 8, 2021 --Still no credit posted to my card. Called Peterman. Rep confirmed a request to process credit was made, but may take up to 12 days. In the most recent call I also cancelled a pair of moccasins that were on backorder since mid-January. Let's see if they get this right.

I have the same situation as everyone else. I ordered a pair of shorts that were "in-stock," but never actually shipped. I called them to ask about it, and it would seem that they were actually "out of stock," yet I still had to call them to issue a refund. Why it is that they would charge you for something before it has even shipped is beyond me, but I still haven't seen that refund. I suppose, as everyone else has stated, I should probably call them soon to remind them about it. I would highly suggest finding another retailer to order from.
