This Business is absolutely horrendous, if you can even call it a business. It is a scam. Instead of going on a long rant about how awful they are, I will just sum up how they conduct their business. I decided to purchase a jacket for myself and it took almost 6 weeks to arrive. Their website clearly says 7-12 days for shipping! Then after receiving the jacket it was way too large. I followed their return policy exactly as stated and they will not refund my money. Instead they are negotiating with me. Their excuse is they are in China and it will be expensive to return shipping. and they are offering me $12 refunded, not $58 what I paid for the jacket. It is absolutely ridiculous. DO NOT shop or purchase anything from this place. It is horrendous. Awful customer service. IT IS A SCAM!

Hey I work for j Peterman currently and try this place is a joke. As long as my boss gets high all is well. This place literally duplicates orders and there warehouse is again under the supervision of idiots this is a why we take so long. Please don't shop here although I'm an employee I can't in good conscience not speak up. Ps the do not practice social distancing nor do they require masks after two positive tests. Please shop else where.

JP Peterman and GuideBoat both pulled the same shady stunt overselling items first of November, charging customers and not refunding the money within 30 days. I had to call to learn I would not receive the items I purchased from both companies (now owned by the same shady people) I requested my refund today, Dec 15, that I ordered Nov 2. Really a sad way to do business.

Wow! I always look at reviews before buying from retailers I’ve never heard of ...needless to say I’ve decided not to purchase anything after reading the horrible comments. You’d be a fool to buy anything with these one star reviews. It just goes to show you.. customers can raise your business up or tear it down. Too bad.

Garment dyed tshirts bought 15 years ago were heavy 12oz cotton, expensive, but worth it - I still have the remants of a few. 2 years ago bought more - half the weight, disappointed, but still, well...OK. Just bought 6 more and _they are rubbish_. You can see through them. You've lost me as a custome, forever.

I ordered three items on 11/16 for Christmas gifts. Two were delivered in the ordinary course, with no indication that the third was not soon to follow. After almost a month with no word from JP where the missing item was, I went onto the website to check. Over the course of a week I tried three ways on line to get some response from them, but no response. Finally I called and after some wait spoke to a new person who said the item was out of stock. At no time did they inform me of this! I checked my quarantine for evidence of an e-mail they claimed to have sent, but it is not there. Anyway, they claimed it had been on back order, but were unable to say if it would ever be stocked again. This, although it showed up in a more recent catalog. No one ever offered to refund the money I paid up front, until I called. It's pretty clear from the course of events that they simply failed to put the third item in the package and by the time they noticed, they were out of stock. Isn't this illegal? It should be. I will never order from them again.

Wow, I have two items in my cart and after reading the reviews I will delete them. Have never ordered from J. Peterman before and thought I should check out reviews before making a purchase. After reading all these, it doesn't sound like a smart idea to purchase from them. Thanks to those who shared their experiences.

Love the merchandise but their sleazy return/exchange policy has made me never buy from them again. Exchanges take 6 to 8 weeks but if you want sooner they suggest you buy again and wait for refund. During covid they suspended refunds and exchanges (so far since last March until now, November) but have no issues with new orders and catalogs. Always loved them but will never shop again !!!!

J Peterman has cheated me! After 68 days and frustrating phone calls, Peterman finally gave me a refund for incorrect merchandise but charged me for return shipping even though two Peterman reps assured me I would not be charged since it was their mistake. Instead of a full refund of $118, I received $109.05. The invoice said I was getting an XS, which is the size I had ordered. But the label on the shirt was a Medium. It was way too big and I didn't have time to exchange for the correct size because I had ordered it to wear for a special occasion. The reps on the phone were understanding and courteous but they said the refund was handled by their "Branding Specialist" in another office. When I asked to speak with him, they said they didn't know how to transfer the call. Peterman doesn't pay attention to the merchandise when they send it or when they get it back. Not trusting them, I took the time to take photos of the shirt and the invoice. Customers shouldn't have to do this! The company refund policy is "within 60 days". They didn't meet their own deadline. If I hadn't called, I doubt I would have ever gotten the refund. And I'm still missing $8.95. We shouldn't have to waste our time on these phone calls and posts to get Peterman to stop cheating. DON'T SHOP AT J PETERMAN

I bought merchandise from Peterman and returned one item costing $118 via UPS in July. The item I returned was NOT the item I ordered and it also took a very long time to arrive. Peterman's merchandise is both pretty good and very bad, but their customer service always has been abysmal. Peterman grants itself as long as 60 days to refund for incorrect merchandise. The deadline passed and after frustrating phone calls they still have not refunded my money. My conclusion, after conferring with other people who had similar difficulties with Peterman, is DON'T BUY FROM J PETERMAN!

This is the worse company regarding shipping , organization, and follow through. I’m so disappointed. I ordered 3 item by phone. They were having a sale, so unordered as I browsed the catalog. The man I spoke to over the phone knew nothing about the items but claimed he did. I had to return 2 items because the fit was off. I was told it would be free returns. I’ve been calling the company everyday. The refunded my money for one item. I was told I’d get an email...have not. I hope I can solve this problem. The company is too much of a headache to deal with. And I feel that if there are extra charges...that should be information given to the buyer up front. I hat that. If the company did better, I’d enjoy purchasing from them...but they suck and take money. Who does that?

Two erroneous shipments of the same product resulted in what I wanted being out of stock by the time it was corrected. No one then cared that I stopped all communication with them. No-one cared, just a simple I will take you off our mailing lists. I don't think upper management has a clue of what's going on. I was a good customer too.

Ordered a "vintage" tee shirt. I've bought these before from J. Peterman and they were made with substantially heavy cotton and have lasted me for years. The new version is a very poor facsimile. The material is inferior. The cotton is thinner, the sizing seems smaller, and the workmanship is not as good. However, the price is still the same: $45 for the long-sleeved version. Peterman used to sell quality items but no longer, it seems. They better get their act together and return to the days when they sold stuff that was better than the ordinary.

As has been noted by virtually every review, this company is no longer trustworthy or reliable in any way. After literally dozens of unanswered telephone calls over the course of 6 months to customer service, I was told that my order was still "being processed" (despite having been charged to my card). After finally receiving incorrect sizes, I made the mistake of returning those items using J Peterman's return label in the hopes of an exchange. After nothing from them for 2 months, I finally got through on the phone, only to be told the correct sizes were unavailable. When I asked why no one had reached out to me with this info prior to my call, the response was "we're very busy, you're not the only customer we have." Then I was promised a refund check that would arrive within a few days. Three months and multiple calls later and still no check. Obviously they need to hold on to as much of OUR money as they can to stay afloat as they go out of business. BUYER BEWARE! Shop elsewhere if you want to receive your goods and/or credits!

Guideboat Company is part of the J. Peterman company. I purchased 2 items from Guideboat early last month - a penknife and a bandana with a delivery charge of $12.95. I was charged for the $7 bandana and full delivery charge $12.95, with the penknife back ordered. Just found out today that the penknife if not being restocked, so I've been charged $12.95 for the delivery of a $7 bandana. The company rep told me that the system does not update after each order, therefore I never would have heard from them about this had I not reached out to them first. There is no way I would order a $7 item and pay that much delivery charge. The customer support said they would reduce the delivery charge by $6, but that still does not take away the bad taste left in my mouth. So buyer beware! I also should say that my complaint is not about the person who helped me (who was polite and tried to help to his/her best ability), but rather the company system.

BEWARE of doing business with this company unless you like waiting months for a refund. There are many fine companies, like Poetry, or London Wrap, or Nordstrom to do business with and who value your patronage. J Peterman is not one of them. This company is not responsive to refund requests.

If I could, I would give J Peterman Co zero stars. I placed an order in early Jan of 2020 that was never filled, and have been waiting since Feb 20 for my refund, when the company promised to send it the next week. Each time I reach out, the refund payment is being processed. I’ve filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, but I fear my money is gone forever. This is NOT a reputable company any more!

I would give ZERO stars if possible. My complaint is the same as most below. I returned two items that J Peterman received on January 21. I check every week but still no credit. I have spoken to several at customer service who say they are behind on returns, but this is ridiculously bad service. The person I spoke with today told me that her manager was going through a stack of papers and that my return was in that stack. She said it would be processed in a day or two. I don't believe her.

Purchased a vintage sweatshirt for my son and after a couple wearings (not yet washed) the seam gave way at the wrist creating a hole. I chatted with a customer service rep and because he's worn it, JPeterman's company policy is not to exchange it. I've owned a number of their shirts they've become threadbare before a seam failed. It is extremely disappointing considering the price ($85) and my past experience with the brand.

Bought a dress Dec, 2019. Too big. Returned it mid-Dec 2019. They received it a week later. No refund on Am Ex by end of Dec. when I called they said they only do refunds at end of month (!) so mine would be coming end of Jan 2020. End of Jan, no refund. I called. The ONE person who handles refunds is out sick. She’ll do that when she returns. She was back by Thurs, but still no refund BUT they added EXPEDITE to my refund. Friday, no refund. Told them I was filing a claim with BBB, which I did. And by the way, they have an F rating! Wish I would have checked before ordering the stupid dress!! The following Thurs I called. The person who does refunds was doing them that day (!!) but very backlogged, but since I’ve been waiting for soooo long the “supervisor” put an extra push, supposedly, on my refund. So now it’s Fri, Feb 14, and still no refund. I actually think they HAVE gone bankrupt and are just not planning on refunding ANY ONE’S money! Now going to contact Am Exp. If I still lived in Cincinnati I’d be pounding in their door daily and REALLY making a stink! STILL NO REFUND 2 MONTHS LATER!!
