I won a dash cam in a recent auction. Parcel delivery only. When it arrived it had a permanent fault light on. They are dishonest as they advertise things as returns, second hand & display items. Which implies they might be slightly damaged when received. They then hide behind there T&C's. Which states you accept the condition when you place your bid. But you cannot see if a dash cam works until you plug it into a car which you are not allowed to do. You can only view the item. They will not refund me. Stay away from them as they should be investigated by the trading standards.

Having read the reviews on this website I was quite nervous but went ahead and won a bid for a Samsung Tablet which is around £570 in Currys. I was aware of the VAT etc but still made a £250 saving. The item came packaged well with a fragile sticker and when I tested the tablet it was perfect no issues or damage other than the box being abit dirty. So very happy overall with my purchase. I wanted to do a review just to say that you must read the items description carefully and view if possible before bidding, I did not view this and tried my luck so very thankful it was as described. Thanks and good luck to anyone else who purchases from this company.

To everyone who moans about pictures and descriptions : the company offers viewing before each auction to inspect the cars yourself. Obviously the pictures can not reflect a detailed condition of a vehicle, if you are about to spend a couple of grand don't be lazy and go see the cars yourself instead of blaming some pictures. Also the staff is always there and helpful , won't cost a penny to give them a call for detailed description in case you are unable to attend the viewing. So far im happy with my purchases, i can only recommend them!

Trading standards really need to do something about John Pye. Firstly they advertise and photograph the lots as if they're brand new. There's absolutely nothing that's brand new. They advertise to the general public & this must be because when someone has been ripped off once, they won't go back. Before you bid on anything, think to yourself about reasons you've ever returned an item! They may look fine, but motors in pressure washers don't work, hard drives or consoles can be sealed but have usually been dropped. I've seen people bid on things making them close to retail price and that's simply stupid! You should treat everything as if it doesn't work and only ever buy things that you know you can fix or get fixed. As for the tvs, they're usually ex display and have usually been on 24/7 for 2 years! Which is far more hours than their usual lifetime would expect. It may last a month & you've gone from saving £50, to wasting £250. John pie also shil bid on their own lots if many accounts are watching. This is in fact illegal. I can't stress this enough, only bid at a price that something is worth if it's broken. You must assume items don't work. Especially if you haven't seen them in person.

Bought a dash cam which they said was fully functionable when it arrived it would not work as parts were missing. There answer to that was it was not advertised with these parts. There Tech Dept in Marchington were not at all helpful same answer all the time not advertised with these parts. I have never written a bad review before about any company but this company are very very bad and deserve anything they receive.

i bought a car weighing scale to resale. When i tried to sell the company traced it where it was last serviced. The owners had reported it STOLEN. It was delivered by DPD and the owners of stolen item were DPD. I informed JP and they collected item with DPD only to be told it was legit. I had to get evidence from the 2 companies that item was stolen and i had been reported to for attempting to sell stolen good. JP told me they were returning stolen goods and were not charging me as a good gesture. I had to send more info then things changed and next they were refunding me. No apology for what i went through. I wonder how many stolen items that goes through their auction floors. If they can sell stolen items for a company they have contract with to deliver their sold items. DPD should think twice.

I wish I checked reviews before buying anything from this site. I paid about £100 to get a scooter. The scooter doesn’t work. My question is whether they sell these faulty items knowingly or not. There’s just no excuse.

Bid and won!!! a hoover discovery cordless vacuum for 46 pound with add ons well pleased to be honest Promptly arrived a day earlier than stated Upon opening the box the vacuum was 2nd hand fair enough the site does state this however what it doesn’t state is that what you actually get is a hoover that doesn’t work there was no charger once I did get a charger found the battery wouldn’t charge to replace the battery costs 71 pound reading the reviews this is common for items not to work this is by no means a sob story just a lesson in life do not buy electrical goods from John pye

We purchased a coffee maker SAGE BARISTA ( lot 644) 29/06/21 delivered within couple of days ( delayed dpd blaming John Pye and other way around) after finally receiving the item ( buzzing)we unboxed and followed the provided instructions to operate the machine ( filing with water and coffee beans) huge disappointment the coffee grinder NOT working ,which makes this expensive machine just a useless dust catcher. Now from your previous email you mention that customers are free to check the items and you provide so many sockets to see the machine working before purchasing but to be fair nobody in his right mind would travel to an auction site with coffee beans in their pockets.

Bid for an item 5 minutes before the auction finished. £380. On their web site it stated £380 was the winning bid. I logged onto my account and told me I had lost. Contacted the customer services department via their own web site after the auction, that was 8 days ago and have not received a reply. This is the second time this has happened to me. They are not abiding with their own terms. This says to me that they are not a legit company.

Following a good review in the Sunday Times I bought a Fitbit from them. Wish I'd read the reviews here first. The display was obviously faulty and they sold it knowing it didn't work, packaged in an old cup box. The auction was bumped up I'm sure. So just a scam site selling faulty goods I'm afraid.

They are simply scam. They hide behind terms & conditions. I had to issue a small claims court summons against them. Simply ask them how many times they've been brought to court. Local Trading Standards is probably corrupted or don't care.

The auctions are dominated by people messing around with throwaway accounts. Their strategy involves submitting stupidly high maximum bids and letting the auction runs its course to win the item. If they're not happy with the final price they don't pay and their account gets banned. The item gets relisted the following week and they do exactly the same again with another new account. You can see this happening week after week with items being relisted.

People are leaving bad reviews for bad items which is retarded. You can view, plug in and test the items before bidding. If you just look at the website pictures you're taking the risk. Having said that, I am convinced this company are bumping up the bids themselves. The viewing days are not that busy, yet every item always gets bid on competitively. I've seen items that have 'sold' and then the exact same item appear a week later for auction again. They don't publish the winning bidders account name either.

You get what you pay for!!! Been a member of John Pye for about 4 years - I've watched various auctions but never bid as its too far for me to get too. However, I needed a new TV so looked at their Warranted sale where viewing not allowed but guarantees are given on products - many advertised as unopened box. Bid on 3 items (all sealed box so expected new products) 1 x mobile phone - they delivered an empty box 1 x TV - they delivered the completely wrong model 1 x TV - the box was opened and items were missing. I complained and fair enough eventually received a refund for the TV and missing phone. However, I paid delivery for the 3 items and the delivery charge was not included in the refund meaning the one TV I kept was £10 cheaper than at Curry's. Phoned JP to ask for delivery but they refused - deleted my account. Please save yourself the heartache and hassle and read other reviews - they should be shut down or describe goods correctly.

In the last min somebody from John Pye bid 1 pound so I can't win the product. Even for me as a client the bid was going min to 10 to 10 pounds I have a picture too but is not possible to attached. As always still showing that is not a reliable company and can't be trust.

Wish I had read these reviews before buying what I thought was a bargain 7 out of 8 kettles beyond use the cream ones have gone a nasty brown colour the rest have mould and limescale caked all on them I am putting in a complaint to trading standards as they are not bothered with trying to offer any type of refund or swap normally I understand but selling things that are beyond any type of repair let alone usage I urge anyone else with these problems/concerns then you should do the same

Received a broken and very tatty, (used to death) gaming headset. It’s absolutely filthy, can’t believe anyone would sell such garbage. They are scammers, completely ripped me off, I’m livid
