About Leonard Truck Outfitters:

Established in the Blue Ridge foothills of North Carolina in 1963, Leonard Buildings and Truck Accessories is a privately owned retailer, manufacturer and distributor whose product lines include storage buildings, cargo and utility trailers, truck covers and accessories, carports, playhouses, pet and animal structures, gazebos, and outdoor furniture. We serve our residential, commercial and government customers through our 59 factory outlet stores in the five-state region of North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia and Tennessee.

Seventy percent of our business last year resulted from repeat customers and referrals mostly of which were from family member to family member. We hear a lot of this: "I am here because when I was growing up my grandfather had a Leonard building in his backyard . . ." We take pride in serving and taking care of folks as if they were our family.

Never purchase another item from Leonard's. I will let anyone who asks never to purchase items. Too bad the customer service was as bad as it was yet the trailer is not half bad.

Scheduling issues, installation time and installation issue on my side-mount truck boxes. Would not recommend.

While the sales staff was very accommodating with getting bed cover and getting appointment to install before i left to go out of state was great it all goes down hill from there! The install guy clearly had never installed this cover before. Cover leaks horribly!!!!!! For the price it was a waste as I am out of state for 6 months so i cant get them to try and fix and I cant leave anything back there as it will get wet. Left on trip the morning after the install, got caught in a rain storm and decided to stop and check everything. The water was pouring in along both side rails,along the front edge near the cab, the drain lines were not seated properly and leaking, and the weather stripping they installed around the tailgate was falling off so water was pouring in off top of tailgate. The only good thing about this bed cover is it is powered with a remote so i can open it easily after the rain to let it dry out. I've since tried to adjust to stop the water, its better than it was but all the weather stripping around the tailgate has pealed off so now between the dust and the rain its pointless. Speaking of tailgate, The salesman that ordered the bed cover and visors for me was not working the next day which is when the install took place. I had told him that I wanted the tail gate completed sealed with weather stripping, he showed me a kit with an additional piece that hooked to the bed and the tailgate to seal the bottom. He said I wouldnt have to worry about tailgate leaking. The guys onsite didnt know about this so all they had was a weather stripp kit that looked nothing like had been discussed the day before and it run only run up the sides and after looking later it wasnt big enough to fill the gap. I also bought some vent shades since one of mine was damaged. They were supposed to install all the new vent shades which they didnt do. The unopened vent shade box is about the only thing i will leave under the leaking bed cover. Also, I lost the key to my reese hitch pin, I asked if they could cut old one off and install a new one so i would have a key, they said they could but they didn't do that either.... Would've got them to do these items but they called right before they closed to come pick truck up and again i was leaving the following morning, which they were well aware of!!! This has been a very, very, very expensive disappointment!!!!!!!! Not sure how many very's to put for almost $2800.00 so insert as many as needed if you'd like....

My most recent purchase was a stack system for the truck bed. I was told it would be about a week for it to come in. At 1.5 weeks I called to find out it was never ordered. That supposedly corrected, I waited two more weeks, called again, and was told it would be in by Weds. The following Monday it still was not in. I was then told it would be in tomorrow, which it was, however, no one bothered to call me and tell me it was in so I found out Friday when I called again. 5-6 weeks to get a stack system installed. I purchased a camper top this past December and was told it would be 4-5 weeks to come in. 3 weeks in I called to see if I could add a roof rack. I was told they would check on where it was in production and get back to me. Never did. Called 3 or 4 more times over next two weeks with the same response but no one got back to me. Finally I went in to the store in person to get an answer just to find out that my camper top was already there and no one bothered to call me. This was at the two month mark. My first purchase was a car dolly. I never got the title. I asked about it when I made my camper top purchase. It was on a clip board hanging on the wall and no one bothered to call me or mail it to me. It had been hanging on that wall for almost a year and a half. It is understandable that items may take longer to get due to various circumstances, but not getting back to someone with a status when you item is overdue is just laziness and incompetence. Not telling someone that their item is in after they have waiting twice as long as it should have taken (TWICE) is ignorance and poor management. I will never do business with Leonards in New Bern, NC again.

Horrible experience at the one in Yorktown. Welded my cage on my trailer upside down and never satisfied me as a customer never kept me informed at all and never allowed me to tell them what i wanted they just did what they wanted and left me stuck with the trailer and i was very disappointed and sad part is i spent over 5k on two trailers.

Ordered building kit. Came with wrong rafters. No shingles, missing to wood panels for roof, vents and light kit. Called and promised rush order. Arrived 13 days later after several calls. I am telling everyone I know to avoid your company!! I've been asked by the company to revise my review because they gave me a $500 refund. I STAND BY MY REVIEW. The fact is the money barely cover additional expenses I incurred due to the way I was treated and the inept Ness of the company. I ended up having to go out to buy more bolts for the door. I got twice as much siding as needed. Come on people. Get your act together! I will be posting negative reviews on all the sites I can find.

Camper had issues sent out to Leer they lost my camper ordered a new camper, found lost camper installed and chipped new camper, gas struts bad on new camper. Service with they guys was good but product and customer satisfaction GARBAGEEEEEE!!!!!

Poor service and inflated prices. Company is more driving to line the Chief officers pockets then providing good service to its customers and employees.

I ordered a leer cap for a 2018 Silverado ltz 6.2L. The people were nice. However, they told me it would be 1-1.5 hours. It’s took almost 3 hours. I was late to another appointment. Additionally, the entire time I was waiting, one of the employees continued to lecture to me about his thoughts on how the human body works and continued to tout unsolicited nonsensical ramblings of cellular interactions and how all of medicine has it wrong. He continued so far as to give me his “research and poems” regarding such ideas. I’m all for believing in what you want but please, don’t push your ideas upon others. It’s uncomfortable. On top of all of this, they scratched my tailgate in multiple spots. I call them that day and they told me to bring it back. The problem is, I was so uncomfortable and not sure if they were capable of actually fixing it in a timely manner that I just decided to pay and have it fixed somewhere els. They have allot of great reviews so this maybe an isolated incedince. But it was certainly awful for this one customer and they cost me additional time and money after they gouged my brand new truck whilst pervasively pushing their “medical adivice”.

Electronics between Leer topper and 2019 Chevrolet not interfacing properly. I would suggest not buying a Leer topper until Lenard has the problem corrected.

My order came in two parts. I am still waiting on the second part is now 12 weeks and counting, after being told to wait 6 weeks. This first work is substandard, wires are falling out of the sticky tape under the truck (should have been loomed and zip tied) and the tool boxes were not cleaned of the metal shards from drilling them in. The LED strobe lights were not installed in the correct locations and now holes are drilled into the truck. Sales and installation people do not talk to each other.

The trailer was damaged upon delivery and no one has ever followed up to make it right. I called the number of times and they keep tell me they didn’t have the repair parts.

Never received my ladder racks that belonged to my shell after b.c a 6 week wait so I returned the entire product! Terrible customer service at the Staunton Va location! Would NEVER reccomend them to anyone!!

I was told I could get shell to unlock with key fob for Tundra. This is not possible as Tundra does not make a motorized tailgate lock I am now told. Installation, they broke my tail light tabs so tail light is lose. They did not trim gaskets, clean numbers or tape off of shell window. Just not knowledgeable or professional.

Very poor. I took 3 months to get some Hazard lights put on my truck. I wanted to find a good place to bring our Trucks. The Burlington branch was a disappointment.
