“Terrible fees now for sellers
Insertion - 36p
Final value fee - 11.9% (clothing)
Postage fee - 32p
Final value fee fixed amount(?!) 30p
Payment processing (stupid ‘managed payments’ that nobody wants but makes greedy ebay more money
Theyve now sneaked in a ‘service metrics account defect %’ too with ridiculous targets, like 1% over A YEAR- this fee is taken from every item you sell
Sell more on other platforms now and posting less and less on ebay.”
“eBay money back guarantee I have requested a refund for£18.44 for a package I haven't received the package has been delivered to somebody in Midlands”
“Waiting for my money back since July. I was in touch with about 20 people from customer service including manager. Every single one said something different about what is wrong and lie to me that I’ll receive my money in 3-5 working days. Never happened. Moreover, I have sent emails to an email on which I was sending and receiving messages previously but now I only get a reply that the email is not monitored. They have just stolen my money. Thieves!”
“THEY ARE RUBBISH, THEY NEARLY ALWAYS SIDE WITH THE BUYER, I SOLD A COUPLE FOR BELTS WITH SILVER BUCKLES
THE SIZE WAS STATED, THE BUYER DIDNOT READ THE SIZE, EBAY SIDED WITH HIM, I SENT ONE CLIENT A JADE PENDANT
SENT A FREE GIFT OF A ONYX PENDANT , SENT SENT ME A PHOTO OF THE ONYX PENDANT AND SAID THIS WAS THE JADE PENDANT, EBAY SIDED WITH HIM, USLESS COMPANY
CANT PHONE NOBODY TO COMPLAIN TO NEVER COME BACK”
“Seller failed to deliver. When I emailed them asking for a delivery date I got a short email reply..." sorry, we are cancelling your order" that was over two weeks ago and I'm still waiting for a refund from nextshopde. Sent a dispute to ebay and got an equally short reply. We won't refund your money...seams ebay are happy that sellers on there website con and defraud people. Still not had any refund from the seller and they are not replying to my emails.”
“Ebay helps crooks by allowing sellers to hide away negative feedback. I paid for 3 items which I never received and for which seller never answered any messages or emails. Seller did not offer PayPal and so negative feedback is the only defense of good faith buyers and Ebay hides our feedbacks!!”
“Buyers beware. Sellers claiming to be based in UK but items sent from China. Double listing - one at inflated price another just below it at lower price to get the buyers thinking they re getting a bargain. Ebay as nowhere near as good for sellers END buyers as it used to be a few years ago. Full of rip off merchants now.”
“Ebay sellers live in a sort of dream world where rip off prices are mostly the rule of thumb. Then the old dodge of saying Royal Mail delivery but they use a different courier. For example...I have just seen a clock radio on Ebay Argos for 15:99. The listing above this was for the exact same item listed at £44!! Then crazy buyers bidding utterly ridiculous prices in some cases more than the items were when new.”
“I have been an eBay customer for years and today I decide to leave. Customer service is polite but not helpful at all. I love luxury watch collections so as long as I find replica on eBay I always report but ebay won’t take any actions. So be careful if you decide to spend even £1 on eBay.”
“Have been an ebay user since 2004 both as a buyer (mostly) but also as a casual seller. Recent events, one was today, leads me to the opinion that eBay is censoring users by deleting honest and appropriate feedback or not publishing critical and low star reviews.
I tried to review a product several months ago after ebay invited me to. It was one star but the review never got published - CENSORSHIP. Today they removed negative feedback I left for a seller without any notification. When I phoned I got the usual blurb about seller rights and they even tried to imply their action is part of distance selling laws - ridiculous. Again CENSORSHIP just because a seller complained that he didn't like my feedback and that he had refunded me anyway - it's not about the refund but the service and subsequent action of the seller. As buyer we should have access to accurate and appropriate information about the goods and services that are offered for sale on the ebay platform. They used the old excuse that their platform just brings users together - get out of jail (gaol) free for them. It's CENSORSHIP. They were not interested in my views and just quoted policy .................... yep CENSORSHIP.
Will I stay a user, well yes unless they remove me and then I'll be back on here. It seems quite clear that if a seller provides sub standard service or goods so long as they give you your money back they can have feedback deleted - CENSORSHIP. It's not just about getting the money back but about the whole customer experience and if it is poor people need to know and that is waht the feedback system is for. But no you are CENSORED and this is done under the disguise of ebay policy. So I am now very unlikely to leave any feedback for any seller and will instigate my ebay rights the very second the system allows me to.
So ebay stop CENSORING your users. I am actually thinking of contacting my MP as this is in my opinion nothing more that ebay taking away my freedom of speech.”
“I ordered a a starret protractor from pjs tools on the2nd of April now over two months later I've still not recieved it when I try to complain to Ebay about it they will have nothing to do with it as PayPal has told them there is an issue with payment and I should contact them .If anyone at Ebay looked at my account they would see that I was charged and paid for the item and that I have never been issued a collection code to pick the item up despite months of trying to contact Ebay ,PayPal Royal mail, Parcelforce and the collection point that I nominated I have had not one positive message from any of them apart from telling me to contact the seller who is not in the least interested in any request I make to them regarding this order as they have been paid .They tell me to contact Ebay which as I've already tried to do with no response. Such disgraceful behaviour from Ebay and their bunch of RIP off merchant cronies I cant describe in polite terms my frustration with this company zero customer service from this bunch of clowns”
“Ebay support fraudsters! Ordered hand sanitiser gel paid £32 it never showed up, but Ebay wouldn't return my money as they believed the seller who simply said they had sent it to my home address. However it was supposed to be sent to an Argos collection centre!!!! It never arrived. Ebay believed the seller and therefore believed that I was untruthful!!
This is a rip off. Ebay are hosting fraudsters, knowingly, and refusing to refund the stolen cash!!
Dont buy from Ebay, I won't use them again. You have been warned . Reverend Jonathan Fox”
“This site has become a complete Joke and Scammers paradise.
Their Site is a Total disfunctional mess and their Customer Service? staff are wittering, scripted fools.”
“If there's one honest seller out of 1000 on eBay I'd like to meet them. Nine orders in a row all scams where I've had to do all the chasing to get almost my money back. One call should be enough but what else should you expect from a company who love our money do much they don't pay tax so they can keep more.”
“A scam company built around scam sellers.
All I've ever bought from eBay has never arrived, just emails from sellers who say item is broken in warehouse and say will refund. Yet when a refund is asked for they say return item first. I would but they never even dispatched it!
Think this is a one off? No, sadly not. From electronics to kids clothes there's a scam waiting to snag you.
But you can get a refund, right?
No, eBay say it's the seller at fault and I need to call PayPal. I don't have a PayPal account as I pay by card so PayPal are as useful as a paper parashute in a thunder storm.
If I bought through a shop, even online, I can complain to that shop and get the issue resolved. Not with eBay, they say it's not them it's the seller (it's the eBay website I bought off not some Chinese warehouse) and they didn't take the money, PayPal did. But PayPal did not as I was a guest on the site with no account.
Long story short, their practices breach UK shoppers rights as I can't take my complaints to the place of purchase. They say they are a bridge between buyer and seller, when they should be the seller with suppliers giving them stock.
Want a company who allow scam artists to thrive? Then go to eBay.”
“Customer service is rude, not willing to resolve problems and tell you off. They suspended my account for no reason. I tried to login from another country, then they said it wasn't me (of course I knew it was me), and they say they refuse to reinstate my account and refused to provide feedback or help reinstate it after wanting to prove that the account belongs to me. When I want to speak to their managers, they hand up on me! If you did this at Amazon for example, they would almost beg you to stay with them and sell on their platform, but Ebay is pushing its customers, users and sellers away, and don't value them at all! Management should really take this seriously and take further actions, as this will not end well and people will turn away from ebay on the longer term... My suggestion is for other users, sellers, etc. is to try alternative platforms where they love to have you! Ebay does not value it's customers and sellers, so be prepared when you deal with Ebay...”
