Went to return sale goods and yes under different circumstances I would have accepted a credit note, but last week when I purchased these items the fitting room was closed. I challenged the stroppy sales assistant who called an even stroppier Manager who was adamant the notices were all round the store about the refund policies well I didn’t see them last week. Won’t be going back to that store for sure!

The worst customer service I've ever had. I ordered some stuff online, I've got half of them and I called them 3 times to get the refund. Every time they were saying it would be processed and it wasn't. Then after the first call, I put a second order with the missing items, and I got 2 of the 3. I called 3 times for the refund, but I still haven't received it. It's the first time that I am trying so hard to get a refund and especially for items that they didn't send.

Well , as if you don’t know what people think about self service tills , I spent £150 in your Southport store ,, never again . Most of it is going back tomorrow , four items have tags on , a sales asst would have spotted this straight away ! It was the most stressful shopping experience I have ever had , and after forty years in retail I thought I’d seen it all ??!! I had to call the assistant over five times , no bar codes, wrong prices , etc etc , I had about thirty different items and it took thirty minutes to put through because I had to keep pressing the help button ,, then no carrier bags , then security tags on dresses when I got home ,,beyond fuming ,, Went into marks and Spencer’s and primark to finish my shopping and it was bliss ,,,in a pandemic when we are encouraged not to use cash , you’ve done the opposite ,, good job Matalan ,, said no one ever !

Never in my shopping experiences at Matalan have I recieved customer service like this from the Kingswood store Hull , well it was none existing!! , greeted with have you got a return , no eye contact , smile or anything, the assistant looked so miserable and obviously didn't want to be there, no conversation as we exchanged items ,no thank you , goodbye or anything , clearly training in customer service needed here , so disappointed , she has let her store down , our other visits have been a really lovely experience ,

Took me months to get a refund for items I’d returned to the store, had to use resolver now they are spamming me everyday! Use Matalan online with external caution.

Could I start by saying I hate self scanning machines. So very annoyed that Matalan have turned all their tills to self scanning machines. I was treated very badly by two members of your Corby branch today. I was told that I couldn't use the only till with a person on it because they don't take cards on that machine. On that occasion I was eventually served by a lovely lady. Today I was treated very badly by a young girl who talked at me and would not listen to me. She stomped off wouldn't give me her name. Another member of staff came over and said to me that she would ask me to leave if I abused her staff. I can assure you that I have two daughters of similar ages to the two shop assistant that I dealt with today and wouldn't want my daughter's to be abused by a customer. You lost a sale of over £150 in your Corby branch today. I would be more than happy for you to review the CCTV footage of my encounter today. Come on Matalan bring back manned tills and do some customer service training.

In Your Boucher Road Store today the Till operator told me that I had to use The Self Check out Till’s ! if I wasn’t paying with cash ! she said her till didn’t take cards ! despite having a card reader clearly placed at the front of her till! I realise that the till operator was only following orders . I told her that I preferred to be served by a person not to mention the hygiene risks in the current Covid times as these tills are not sanitised / cleaned after each use ! So I left my carefully chosen items on the counter , what a waste of MY time it is A Mistake that I will not be repeating ! Are YOU listening to Your customers MATALAN !!!!! I would also Choose Zero Stars if it were available !!!!!

Avoid Matalan. Appalling service took months to receive a refund for returned items. Now I’m being spammed by Matalan on resolver nothing being done about it just being ignored!

Honestly if I could leave zero stars I would. After my order not turning up I emailed only to get an automated reply so I emailed again, after half a dozen emails I rang customer services who told me the parcel was out for delivery, it didn't turn up so I rang again to be told the parcel hadn't left the warehouse and would be sent out to me, again no parcel so rang again to be told the parcel had gone missing and they would issue me with a refund. So someone along the line has been telling porkies. Let's hope I get my refund!! I will never be using Matalan again. My order from Next came within two days, no bother.

Matalan sent me a 20% discount code that included 'Home' items, apart from furniture. I ordered a light online and it wouldn't let me apply the discount code. I complained on Trust Pilot and had a response from Matalan, who said that 'home' items are not included in the discount. WRONG. I have the discount card to prove it. Check your promotions Matalan and then think how you are going to wriggle out of dealing with loads of people who try the codes to buy homewares... This is a con out and out and Matalan should be aware of the terms of their own promotions. Why are they saying that this latest promotion does not include homeware, when clearly is DOES, apart from a very few exclusions, such as furniture...? I am not happy with Matalan's response and lack of clarity or fairness on this issue.

Illegally took £96 from my account for an order I never placed and never received. 1 week later n still no refund ! Reported as a fraud. These are a VERY dishonest company

Went to Matalan and purchased a cardigan,one week later received a parking fine for £100. The parking machines all had covers over them(I believe these were the old machines covered up to make you think parking was free)As a result I won’t be shopping at Matalan again.

Bought a gold bracelet approx 2 weeks ago. I've only worn it a handful of times but the elastic is already fraying and about to break, so I can't wear it anymore unless I can find a way to fix it. Poor quality.

Discovered today they had only self-service tills - can’t use your card at the only staffed till. Sod that Matalan, I won’t be back. Queues were huge, everyone was struggling to use the tills and getting flustered. Clothes shopping is meant to be enjoyable, not stressful or humiliating. No point avoiding buying online if this is how it is when you shop in person.

The self service tills don't seem particularly covid safe, I tried to point the barcodes at the scanner but to make it work I would need to pick up the hand scanner - which would have been handled by customer after customer all day. Health and safety? Self scanners are taking jobs away from local people, a big no for me. I left the goods at the till. I love Matalan goods but no thanks..Sort it out please Matalan.

They cater for the smaller women, the very small section of clothes for the bigger lady isn't very nice. Frumpy, it's like they think we should cover up! Why can't all the clothes come in all the sizes? It's discrimination!!

The self service tills didn't work properly. I have arthiritis in my hands and really struggled. The manned till had a very long queue. Feel sorry for the staff.

Visited the store and after picking up a fair amount of clothes was confronted with self service check outs, if I had known I wouldn't have picked up so much I watched one young women struggling with a toddler and trying to scan, discard hangers and tags one handed, absolutely rediculous Very disappointed and I won't buy as much in future because although it's fairly good value I'm not interested in checking out my own items and prefer a service from a person not a faceless machine

Sent the incorrect item. When I emailed to advise I am not happy to pay the postage costs to send the item back they told me to return it in store...This isn't a solution as you're still paying out in petrol/parking/public transport fares. Customer service poor and slow, no apology and no useful advice given.
