“My experience with MPB USA was terrible. Absolutely horrible customer service. I ordered a lens on Sunday, on Tuesday I had to call to confirm the order, I told them how important the lens was to me and how I needed it as soon as possible. I was told it would be to me by the weekend. On Monday I called asking where the lens is and they never sent it out. They waited so long to complete the transaction the bank declined their permission. What a waste of time dealing with this company”
“I purchased a Fuji NP-W235 battery for my X-T4 camera on Dec. 23rd that was advertised as in stock on MPB's website. PayPal said in an email confirming the order that money would not leave my account until my order was processed. After Christmas, I realized that I had never received any confirmation of shipment from MPB, so I sent them a couple of emails that went unanswered. On Dec. 30th, I received a voicemail message from someone at MPB saying that an "allocation error" had been made, and that the battery I ordered was actually not in stock, but by then the charge had been posted to PayPal and on to my credit card for the purchase price of the non-existent battery. How this happened when MPB did not actually have the battery in stock is beyond me. So, after New Year's I initiated a dispute with my credit card company and with PayPal. My credit card company gave me a conditional credit pending the resolution of the dispute, and PayPal forwarded my dispute email to them to MPB on January 4. Finally, on January 5, PayPal notified me that MPB had made the refund for my purchase of the non-existent Fuji camera battery. MPB has had its chance to earn my business, and it failed miserably. I will not deal with them ever again. So, as the saying goes, caveat emptor.”
“The main problem for me is mpb's inconsistency with regards to customer service. On Dec 20th I purchased a lens from them with no special shipping instructions because it was Christmas week and I expected terrible deliveries from whoever they use, so be it.
However, to my surprise, I received the lens on the Christmas Eve, New York to Los Angeles!
But here comes order number 2, completely different outcome. Ordered another lens on December 27th and as of today, January 3rd not only has it not shipped, but when I called their NY office their voicemail said they were closed today?!?
I cancelled the order because I needed the lens for the end of this week and also because a flag went up do to the Jekyll and Hyde customer service. You never know what you're going to get!”
“I was looking to trade in my Excellent Canon 760d and pay the difference for an 80d. I only had a week before Christmas, so i have decided to give MPB a go.
Putting a trade-in request on the website, although MBP comes more expensive than anyone else for trade-ins, I thought they will have better customer care given the reviews here.
On Sunday the 19th, I have put in the request on the website. The collection was arranged for Tuesday the 21st.
On Monday the 20th I have called MBP to ask if the timeline is realistic and I am being told that there is more than enough time to get everything through, to go ahead with my DPD collection and wait.
On Tuesday 21st, I hand out the camera to DPD, as arranged.
On Wednesday 22nd:
- My camera is being delivered to MPB at noon, around 12.15
- I am calling MBP to ask them if this can be processed immediately, because I am ready to pay and have my new camera delivered before Friday. I am being told that their warehouse team is not that busy and that it should be ok, just to keep an eye on my emails.
- I am waiting until about 4pm and I call again to chase for an update, I am being told now that they will not have time to process it, but that they will chase the team that checks the cameras received, because that is where the hold up is
- At 5pm I am then getting an email to say that they are ready to send my camera and that I need to make my balance payment which I do immediately
- I am calling MBP immediately after the payment to check when they can dispatch my camera and now I am being told that they have stopped dispatched up to after Christmas, and it is because of DPD, not them, because DPD will not be able to collect the camera until after Christmas.
I am finding myself now without a camera for Christmas and out of my pocket by £324 that I just paid. I wouldn’t have gone ahead with this if my expectations would have been managed correctly since Monday before sending the camera or when I was still waiting for my camera to be checked.
I don’t understand why everyone at MPB has mislead me so badly. At no point in any conversation this week, anyone from MPB mentioned the cut off point for dispatches.
The DPD story is unbelievable, because i work in a company where we deal with DPD, DHL and other couriers and they are still making collections and next day deliveries on the 23rd and 24th of December.”
“they do not seem to be a reputable organization. i purchased a lens and tried to return it but missed the return period by 2 days. they sold me the lens in "like new" condition. i never used the lens outside of my home and it was attached to my camera a total of 10 minutes to test. i decided i needed a longer focal length and since they wouldnt take my return i decided to sell it back to them. they offered $490 for a lens i spent over $600 on less than 10 days earlier. i took their offer and returned the lens. now they changed the quote amount to $460 due to "condition" it was returned in the same condition as sold to me in the original box. if there was a condition issue it was sold to me that way. i caution anyone who does business with MPB to be careful, they are rip-offs and i would never consider doing business twith them again!”
“Ordered Olympus EM1 MKll in ‘LN condition’. It came with 1/2” scratch on rear screen and battery door malfunctioning. Mpb will only give partial refund or sililarsimilar body. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Total scam.”
“£25 reduction for £6 part WOW talk about robbers
I thought i would give this company a try. I had a camera to trade and because the battery flap was missing they wanted to reduce the price by £25 pounds. On eBay the price for the item was £6 delivered. This was a blatant rip off by MPB. I also waited all day for DPD to collect an item from the 1st sale I had with MPB and they never showed up-did I-get an apology ? from MPB NEVER.They could learn lots from AMAZON when it comes to customer service. Double Check everything when you do business with these folks.”
“Sadly this company has lost its moral compass. Do not expect answers to emails. I have had cameras described as - as new - that were faulty, lenses that can focus ,incomplete goods sent, faulty batteries in the camera and lastly filthy dirt covered goods.
Sadly I have to say buy elsewhere.
Note staff on the phone are always pleasant. Not the company it used to be.”
“Literally one of the worst online shopping experiences I've ever had. Was trading my Tamron F2.8 70-200 lens in for the newest version of the same lens. They sent me the exact model back, who knows, maybe it is my lens.
I had wanted the lens in time to shoot my daughter's college swim team's upcoming swim meet. When I called them, they promised to overnight the correct lens to me.
And that I could send the incorrect one back after I received the new one. The next day, nothing. Next day, nothing. No email notification, nothing. Called them again for the third time this week. Now they're telling me I needed to send the incorrect lens to them before they send me the replacement. They screwed up for a second time. Oh yeah and we are halfway through the meet.
I will never purchase anything from them again.
Would give negative stars if possible”
“Worst Experience Possible
I purchase 2 lenses (Sony 28-70mm and Rokinon 24mm) in November 5th. In the same day I paid the order. Since then, they first told me that the incorrectly listed the Rokinon and didn´t have then in stock. I suggest a Samyang equal. They didn´t respond and the lens was later out of order also. I send five e-mails, with no answer, and then start to call to solve my problem. Last monday I spend one hour on the phone and accept to exchange the wrong lens for a Sony 50mm 1.8 that they had in stock with the promise that they would dispatch the lenses in the same day. Since then I been call everyday and everyday they say that the product will be dispatch but nothing happens. Since the start of this whole saga I send six e-mails and more than twenty calls. I'm now writing this while waiting to talk with a supervisor on the telephone (twenty minutes on hold until now). I just want what I pay for... Hope someone in MPB can end this torture for me.”
“Sent my lens and camera to them. Phoned three days later and they said DPD had a problem with tracking and they can' find my equipment in the warehouse. Phoned after another two days and always we are currently busy and so left my details and contact number as instructed. No surprise! did not contact me and even emailed with no response. If you don't want the worry if your equipment has been received safely then please avoid this company. A few years ago they were a decent company but can only think they have new investors.”
“My experience with MPB could not be described as anything else as a slow disaster. My original order got delayed in shipment for 3 days simply because they did not bother to read the correspondence in full -I asked to remove an item, but l confirmed within 2 hours that it was all ok-.
After that initial start the courier did not attempt delivery until a day later -despite saying it had-, and then I discovered that out of the two items I had bought one had issues: the camera I had bought.
The first issue was that the camera was supposed to have come with a charger -that was missing-, the second was that the battery door was also missing -which should have been a red flag at this point- and the last one and more important.... the camera did not power up! I actually tried with 6 different batteries loaded, and even bought a battery grip to check if that fixed the issue... didn't.
Again, took days to get any traction from them, 4 days to be precise and that is unacceptable, they were not going to send a replacement in advance, or while the camera was in transit. After this, they have come back to be non-responsive...
They might have good prices, but in the event of an issue, they're a nightmare to deal with.”
“I bought a used Sigma 70-200mm for my Nikon, used and fully functional (or so I thaught). Once I received the lens, the first problem came up - AF wasn't working. After some research I found that the firmware had to be updated because the model was older. Ok, I sent the lwns to Sigma to update it for free. They informed me that the OS was loose inside the camera and to fix that would cost me 200€ more. How can you say that the lens is fully functional when the os is loose? I'm really disapppinted in mpb.”
“Shambles of a company, don't use them!
They reviewed my kit and they reset all my settings, gave me a ridiculous quote and then didn't put my lens back together properly when returning it. Now i cannot use my lens and they wont take responsibility and fix it.”
“Scratched lens that they refuse to take back. Lens was labeled as like new, fraudulent marketing and horrible customer service. USE ANOTHER COMPANY!!”
“Shambolic service. The customer service team suggest they don't take calls yet they have contact numbers. On reviewing my camera kit they sent back an expensive lens broken and reset all my camera settings without any permission or suggestion I would sell them my kit. They will also undercut any initial quote they send you. Do not use this company”
“I purchased a Nikon D3x back in early 2021. I paid extra due to their claim it had low shutter count. I was getting an err code from the beginning and after research I was convinced it was camera/lens electrical contacts. I recently took the camera in for a check and a cleaning at Mikes Camera in Boulder, CO. I was informed that the camera was not repairable due to faulty a mirror. I had only taken, approx 250 exposures on the camera. I did not cause this problem I was sold a broken camera from Mpb.
I contacted them and have not received any reply.”
“Just awful customer service. You'd think a company that deals with your expensive equipment would have better customer service. I would NOT recommend them.”
