Recently sent a LGK8 to music magpie and was offered £17.00. The phone was working well and I used it a few days before I sent it. A few days later, music magpie emailed to tell me that the SIM port was faulty, and reduced my offer to £1.70. I rang to in to query this, since the phone was working before, and they said my only option was to accept or decline the offer. Declined, and guess what? I have just received my phone back in full working order, as I sent it. I put my Tesco Mobile SIM back in, sent a text and made a phone call. I called customer services again and they still refused to reconsider the offer or apologise for their error. Neither staff members even deviated from their script to listen to my problem, nor were they able to suggest any solutions. Do not send your phone here. They will hook you in with a good price and then knock it down.

Horrible experience. Paid for an item, only after 4 days they let me know the will cancel the order, with two different emails, one saying "It appears that this has occurred in this instance and your order was placed immediately after that of another customer" and the other saying the item "has failed the final quality inspection". They will give me the money back in maybe a week they say. They make free use of my money, and maybe others, without any sort of compensation, and giving excuses away for bad service

I sent my just under two year old Samsung Edge 6 Plus which was in perfect condition and as new to them after the more than generous quote for £161.00, which seemed too good to be true. It was, they then reported it had screen damage and offered £40. So at some point it either arrived damaged by their courier or dropped on their warehouse floor. So now I have a broken worthless phone. A complete rip off.

Hello Lisa, We're sorry to learn you were unhappy with the service you have received. Having looked into your order, we can see that the two devices were regraded from good condition to faulty. The Samsung Galaxy S6 was found to be faulty due to a cracked screen, whereas the iPhone 5s was regraded due to screen burn. Had both of these revised offers been declined, the items would have been returned to you free of charge - as they were accepted, payment was issued for both devices. Kind regards, mM CS

Purchased Iphone - was faulty. Was advised to return it - I posted it back to them. They are unable to trace this and so I have now lost out on a phone and money!!!! They have failed to provide me details of complaints department and royal mail service. Do not use - extremely unhappy with the service provided!!

Hello, We're sorry to learn of the issues faced with your order. In order to be insured through our returns process, the item would need to be within the Royal Mail network and be traceable. Complaints information was sent to you via email on 20/10 at 1.49pm. Kind regards, mM CS

Diabolical. My phone has been well looked after. Not a mark on it. Offered 113.00. Then I got the joke email stating it was damaged. Phoned and some bloke said it was bent and worth 11.00 quid. Funny isnt it bloke at carphone warehouse commented on how well looked after is was but couldnt trade as there card machines have been updated and the software for trade ins wasn't working. Beware

Hello Tracey, We're sorry to learn your experience was not positive. As mentioned, upon testing your device it was found the item was bent meaning the item was regraded to faulty condition. Following your conversation with one of our agents on 13/10, an image of your device was sent to you via email to show the damage to the item. As the revised offer was rejected, the item was returned to you free of charge. Kind regards, mM CS

Sent my mobile to Music Magpie in very good working condition, they contacted me and offered 10% of original amount saying phones screen was damaged. I declined offer and they returned a phone to me. I do not believe the phone returned was my phone as mine had been kept in a case and had no damage at all to back or sides the hone returned to me has. I can see no problem with screen. Not happy

Hello Jane, We're sorry to learn you aren't happy with the service you received. When your device was received and tested, it was found that the screen was lifted, which meant the item was in faulty condition as opposed to good condition, hence the drop in price. We can assure you that the device you received is your own. Kind regards, mM CS

Appalling. Absolute rip off merchants. Offer one price online but when they receive the item completely fabricate faults and try offering a cut price deal. AVOID!!!!!

Hello Dan, We're sorry to learn your experience was not positive. The item in your order was regraded upon testing due to screen burn and a lifted screen, which deem the item to be faulty. Following your phonecall with our agent on 18/10, images of your device were sent via email to further explain this. Your device was returned the following day, which you should have received shortly after. Kind regards, mM CS

I had the same untrue claim of screen burn when I sent my phone in in prefect working order with all original accessories and the box. MM did not meet any of their claims of terms. After waiting a week with no payment and no contact, I emailed them and they came up with the fake reason. After that in the same afternoon they sent me a sly email saying if I did not decline their offer of £30 for my phone within the next 2 hours they would do the £30 deal anyway. Their online offer was £130. These guys are scammers avoid ! When I eventually received my phone back i did a download test for screen burn and it was BS, but I already knew that. £30 for a premium mobile OYB MM !

Hello, We're sorry to learn your experience was not as positive a we'd have hoped. Having looked into your order, we can see the device was regraded to due screen burn as listed in your review. Damage to LCD is explicitly listed in our faulty specifications for the item in your order. We can also see that your item wasn't collected on the date originally specified - we apologise for any inconvenience this caused. As per your email on 25/7, your order was collected on this date. We received the order two days later; you emailed for an update on 27/7 when your item was received which does not equate to a week without contact or payment. The email you refer to "saying if I did not decline their offer of £30 for my phone within the next 2 hours they would do the £30 deal anyway" is inaccurate. At the time your order was placed, in July, we used a four day grace period for regraded devices. Your item arrived with us on 27/7 and the revised offer was declined the same day. If items are regraded, we email the customer to let them know why and from then they would have been given four days to respond. A reminder email would have been sent 24 hours prior to the deadline - this is listed in our terms and conditions. Kind regards, mM CS

Beware! They hide behind improper T&Cs to revise prices to try and scam you out of money! I recently tried selling a MacBook pro under Poor condition through Music Magpie. Upon receiving my item they claimed it was 'Faulty' due to the battery not being at it's best anymore. However, on their website the following was the description I used: Powers on/remains on (when not plugged into charger) • Keyboard can be missing 2 or more keys • All drives work • Complete with RAM and HDD • Heavy wear and tear/scratches/dents My MacBook was not only functional (as I had been using a day or two prior to sending it off) but it could hold battery charge for a couple of hours without being plugged into the mains. It did not fail in any other way, which suggests I have comfortably met their requirements for 'Poor Condition'. Yet it failed on a test that was neither relevant to the condition I had selected nor stated ANYWHERE on their website. After a lengthy discussion with a Live Chat representative, I was given the excuse that they can't supply all relevant tests on their website (total rubbish) and I ran rings around their T&Cs but having clearly lost the argument, he stated that all revisions are final and I would need to accept the lower price of £39 (was £109!) or I should decline the offer. I tried to decline but the button would not work and the representative had to decline on my behalf! I would not go anywhere near these scammers ever again.

MusicMagpie lied in a deceitful attempt to dupe me into accepting substantially lower offers for my perfect, as-new, iPhones. I sent them two iPhone 5Ss, both absolutely immaculate, fully boxed, including chargers and headphones. Received an email for each phone, with a massively reduced offer following an assessment by Music Magpie that they are in “poor” condition due to “heavy scratches”. This is entirely untrue, and is a dishonest assessment. As stated, they were both in perfect condition; always kept in a case, well looked after, and sent to MM in good faith. Also received an email for one saying it was locked and still linked to an iTunes account. Again, this is not true as both phones have been fully reset and boot up with the welcome screen. I have declined the revised offers and will instead sell them privately. I do hope they are returned to me in the condition they were sent (boxed, A1 condition, with headphones and charger) so that I can sell them for their true value, otherwise this company will have a monumental fight on its hands. Very disappointed. Avoid!

Hello, We're sorry to learn your experience was not positive. Having looked into your order we can see that both items were revised to poor condition due to heavy scratches as you have stated. Both devices have notable scratches to the screen, meaning they could not be accepted as good condition. In regards to the iOS lock you have mentioned, merely resetting to factory settings would not remove the iCloud account. We ask that Apple products have the iCloud account removed when creating your order. Kind regards, mM CS

As has already been given as an experience by numerous reviewers, absolutely don't try and sell your mobile phone to Music Magpie. I have a number of friends who have had exactly the same experience as I did; being given a great quote only for damage to be hugely exaggerated and a vastly reduced offer being made. I sent a virtually perfect iPhone 6 (64gb) with no cracks and an immaculate screen and a couple of very minor scuffs to the back. Very much in line with the "wear and tear" example quoted on the website. My phone has now been "examined" and rated as poor - knocking over £60 off the offer price. I have asked for the phone back and am now expecting further issues with their returns service (as per other feedback). The company obviously has a policy of praying on vulnerable (or lazy) people by exaggerating damage in the hope the owner needs the money desperately or lacks the inclination to take the situation further and accepts a terrible offer for their phone. I am not one of these people and will be sharing this message via every medium I can in the hope people remain from using the company and instead use its numerous competitors. An awful company.

Sent a number of items to them 3 weeks ago. They then claimed one item was missing. It was definitely put in the box so was obviously lost at their end. After contacting them twice I was assured I would receive the money within 2-3 working days. That was more than a week ago and I have still not received any money but they have my items. I would definitely NOT recommend Music Magpie to anyone.

I sent 2 phones off, one of them everything was fine, I received my payment but a day later than they promise to send it, they received them at 5.50am and they say the payment will be sent the same day, what they fail to mention is that the payment will be sent the same day they get round to opening it. The 2nd phone there was an issue and I've requested it be sent back to me. It's now been a week since I asked for the phone to be returned and I haven't received it. I've contacted MusicMagpie and they've said "Sorry, I can see that it hasn't been actioned yet" and that they "Can only apologise" It's only at times when you need to deal with a companies customer service that you find out just how good they are, I'm sure if this had been a simple transaction it would have all been fine, but their service is very poor when it comes to having to sort out an issue.

Hello, We're sorry to learn your experience was not positive. Having looked into your order, we can see your items arrived with us on 25/9 and your order completed the following day. As mentioned, there was an issue with one of your devices. We check the technical items we receive through CheckMend and unfortunately yours was flagged. As you have cleared this issue with CheckMend, your device has been returned to you - if you haven't received this yet, it should be with you soon. We apologise for any delay and appreciate your patience. Kind regards, mM CS

Hello, We're sorry to learn your experience was not positive. Having looked into your order, we can see that - as mentioned - the device was regraded due to screen burn. For clarity, a screen burn is where you can see a faint outline of something that was once on the screen - such as an icon, the time, or lines - showing mainly on clear white screen. As this is a fault with the LCD we are not able to offer a higher price than offered for this order. The item has been returned to you. Kind regards, mM CS

Hello, We're sorry to learn your experience was not positive. Having looked into your orders, we can see there have been changes to the amount paid for the following reasons: Item not sent, Damaged artwork, Missing disc and damaged disc. We cannot pay for items we do not receive, and as explained in our terms and conditions, media items can only be accepted and paid for if they are in good condition. Missing items or damaged items are not in good condition. Kind regards, mM CS
