Most meals are great. The last few weeks have been a bit disappointing in terms of the menu selection so we are now doing Food Bag every two weeks

Very convenient, and good variety of dishes and flavours, however can get repetitive with time. Chicken appears on the menu options a lot! The produce is of good quality and the meals are mostly enjoyable.

The recipes are great, it's more expensive than other boxes but better quality recipes and veg. Over covid there is always items missing which is disappointing.

Unfortunately, we were hit quite hard with labour shortages but things are beginning to return back to normal for us now. The food has been generally really good, it's a nice change from our usual evening meals. We have really enjoyed the range of healthy meals and fresh ingredients. Unfortunately, we have has missing ingredients in almost half the boxes we have received. Some of the missing ingredients have been key for the recipe (e.g. pastry for sausage rolls) meaning we can't make the meal as we live out of town and usually notice when preparing ingredients to make the meal. When submitting a complaint about this, the compensation was around the price of single ingredient, as opposed to the entire meal. It has happened in at least half our boxes so this has been really disappointing. Besides the missing ingredients, we have enjoyed the fresh ingredients, as well as the variety of recipes, plus the delivery system have been handy for busy lives.

Overall my experience of Bargain Box is average. The convenience and variety of the food is good. The portion sizes are also good. However, at times, some of the fresh produce has arrived bruised or squashed. On one occasion I opened a packet of sealed rice and discovered insects inside. I reached out to customer services to advise of this discovery… and 3 days later, they offered me a $30 refund for the meal. Considering that I had to throw away all the packets of rice with the same batch number (3 meals worth) I would hardly say that this is adequate compensation.

The menus and meals are so incredibly convenient. The food is almost always fresh and NZ produce. But if there is something missing (a systems/quality control issue?), do not expect to be compensated appropriately for your time, fuel and re purchase after the time spent communicating the missing item(s). This is the most frustrating part for me. However, due to convenience I continue.

My experience with My Food Bag is that it doesn't save time, money or dishes, but it gets us to try many different meals and ingredients that I never would have tried otherwise. After getting the Bargain Box for a while I found the portions, especially the portions of meat, excessive compared to what we normally would cook, so are now getting the Vege Box for 2, and subbing in our own meat when we want to. It's working well so far but it still needs creativity on my part, especially as there is no way for us to opt out of mushroom based meals (allergy). As the person in the house who cooks, I enjoy preparing these meals, but I probably won't still be doing it in 6 months. I should mention that I had a couple of experiences with things missing or damaged in in the box and they were really great to deal with!

Overall I find My Food Bag pretty good. There is plenty of food even though I am getting the Fresh Start option and it has relieved a lot of stress around meal planning. The one issue I have is the accuracy of the packing. Almost every delivery has something missing. This could be spices, vegetables and even the recipe cards which meant I had to find the recipes and print them out. If you could sort out this issue then My Food Bag would be great!

We had several issues with our first few boxes from crushed boxes to missing items. Pleased to say the last 2 have been near perfect. Recipes are great with the odd exception. Some of the meat quality is pretty average at times

The box for 4 people is not enough to feed 4 adults. Most of the recipes are fairly good but the cooking times are out. For example one recipe card said to bake wedges for something like 25 to 30mins but it took upto an hour and my oven is quite new. Overall I’m fairly happy with it but I’m also looking at alternatives due to the price and it not being enough food for 4 people

Unfortunately I received two broken eggs and a split tub of yoghurt. Salvaged what was left and still enjoyed a lovely dessert which was my first food bag one- and it was delicious! Recommend Plum & Pear French Toast Bake..😋

Hi Mike! Completely understand that burgers aren't for everyone! We had these in our recent bags as a part of our 'Battle of the Burgers' challenge. Each of our chef's got a chance to create their own burgers and the one with the best rating from our customers will win the challenge. Very sorry that you weren't happy with these! Perhaps you might consider something from our My Choice range. With this bag each week you get to choose from 15 recipes so you can avoid burgers altogether if you like. When we got Hello Fresh, each meal came delivered with the ingredients separated into individual paper bags. It would be nice if you did this so that I don't have to go ever each recipe card and separate the ingredients myself. As for the meals themselves, some are a bit 'meh', especially the lack of creativity with salads - eg lettuce and cucumber with a bit of olive oil is a bit lacking. And also the pies I feel cheated on - having only a pastry on top of the ingredients isn't really what NZ calls a pie. We expect the filling to be fully encased in the pastry! These meals end up not being filling enough. This is especially for the desserts, such as the apple and pear crumble. $12 or whatever it was for a couple of apples and pears and some crumble mix was a rip off. I expected pastry for the bottom, topped with crumble. Because that's what an apple crumble is, every time I've had it...

Packing needs to be worked on as over the time I've had bargin box, tomatoes and some other veggies are squashed. Receipts are wet and unusable. Contact team on the 0508 number are amazing.

Quite hit and miss. Some meals are really good, while others really aren't. Boxes often come with items damaged or open, and the most recent box itself was open. Really questioning the care put into putting these boxes together. Definitely had higher quality from hello fresh for a similar price, however hello fresh became quite repetitive.
