“The ready made meals are a bit small for 2 people and just went to cook my chicken meal (2nd day after delivery) and the avocado is still rock hard. Would have been better to have a ripish avocado delivered for the chicken dish.”

Hi Susan! Thanks for your feedback! We have passed this forward to the team. In terms of the avocado - In the past when we have packed ripe avocado, often bruising and over-ripening has occurred by the time they arrive. This is irreversible and undesirable to say the least! We tend now to pack them closer to the under-ripe side. This is intentional, with the understanding that they may be in chilled storage and then transit for at least a day prior to delivery. It may then be a 1-2 days before they're meant to be in the recipe. We recommend storing the avocado at room temperature, ideally near fruit to facilitate ripening within 1-2 days after arrival. “Have been quite disappointed with packaging and delivery of my good bag. We pay good money but often receive vegetables that are squashed and not edible. I wonder if the packaging could be improved to prevent spinach and veggies from getting squashed by the other products. I’ve had to replace multiple items now due to food being destroyed while with the courier.”

“I love my veggie food bag. Not having to think up recipes for the majority of the week is just great. Having just enough food products and nothing going to waste (except we hate bok choy) means I do not feel like I am wasting money on items purchased that you think you will use but do not. I am not afraid to add to the recipe if I want more spice or garlic etc or to add less of a product (i.e. cream) if I want to. Always look forward to the new delivery.”

“My Food Bag has made our lives less stressful. It has helped to answer the perennial question, "What's for dinner?" and it does so with panache. “I am a single, 65 mumble, female and receive a food bag every fortnight and thoroughly enjoy the recipes and the fabulous ingredients that come with each bag. I usually find that there are enough vegetables to keep me going on the week I do not receive a bag. In the time (at least 6 months) that I have been receiving My Food Bag I have only found 2 recipes that were not totally to my liking. The only other gripe I have is that the very rare times there are "frozen" ingredients in the bag they are defrosted by the time they get to me. Well done Nadia, go well. Regards Stephanie, Otaki.”

“The MFB plant-based option is absolutely amazing. Every meal is nutritionally balanced and delicious! My 14 year young daughter is vegan and she not only loves the recipes, she cooks a lot of the meals. Winning! There is always enough for lunch the next day and the only thing I would want more of is the option to order for more than 4 days of the week.”

“Greatest idea ever! We really enjoy the Bargain Boxes - the recipes are easy, interesting and really tasty. The produce is super fresh and we especially like the meals that contain fish. We are a household of two pensioners, and we are small eaters so the Bargain Box is ideal as we get 6 meals from three. My only negative comment would be that there is no choice or substitution available. We do not eat lamb and cannot eat anything that contains curry. I have had to skip the next two deliveries because of this which is a bit annoying! Wish I had known about Bargain Box earlier!”

“Enjoying not having to decide what to cook and learning new techniques and ideas e.g. grilling chopped up courgettes instead of sauteeing them. Much easier, tastier and more evenly cooked. Pan-frying and then slicing cuts of meat thinly is a good time-saver too. The spices, sauces and other flavour sachets really make the meals delicious and unique compared to my usual standard of cooking. The complexity of the recipes means I sometimes am spending longer cooking than my usual style. I have learned from doing the MFB that layers of tasty garnishes really makes the meals special.”

“Love My Food Bag! The recipes are full of flavour. As a single working mum it takes a layer off by not having to organise meal ideas for the week. It’s cost effective Im not needing to go to the supermarket as much. Reduces wastage. Best of all after a tough day at the office, you know you have a tasty effortless meal waiting for you! “This has been great for us, it's got me cooking a wider variety of food, and not having to think "what's for tea?" is amazing. Portions are generous so I usually take leftovers for lunch the next day. Only small issue we've had is the spice packets getting a bit wet with condensation in the box - hopefully moving into the cooler seasons will help with that :)”

“I started to received Fresh Start regularly from the beginning of 2021, as of this week 7kg of weight has gone. I love the meals and the thought of travelling home and I know what I am having for dinner! - I also have the lunch box extra; my work colleagues are always interested what I am having for lunch. Living on my own I notice now that I do not have the food wastage I used to have, and thats a good thing as I would eat extra so food would not be wasted.”
