I have had major problems with Hermes in the past e.g. despite capital letters LEAVE WITH ANY NEIGHBOUR the parcel was left outside under a small table, highlighting that I was away and becoming absolutely soaked and covered with slugs. Lakeland is one of my favourite companies and fortunately always dealt with my concerns. As other reviews have said Hermes didn’t want to know. Recent experiences have been positive - in fact, no problems at all with the deliveries. My gripe now is the excessively long and mostly irrelevant customer survey - I should have been happy to complete a brief survey, but ignored the first request. Today a further email, so I completed it. My responses won't give the right result as there were so many irrelevant questions, without the option of 'not applicable'. All 26 questions had to be answered.... So Hermes seem to have improved what they are supposed to do - but greatly annoyed me (and I don't feel I am THEIR customer).

supposedly three attempts to deliver parcel but no card left and I was at home on all occasions. just used the chat system and had to wait 15 minutes to get response. you can't actually speak to a human. Still waiting to see if it will ever be delivered.

Incompetent chaotic customer service, unable to help with anything yet polite. Cannot rearrange delivery, probably the only courier on earth that does not offer such a service. I would sent via myHermes to someone only if I hated them. I received an empty box, and after multiple attempts of communication I'll just move on with my life.

I would never ever use this delivery company again. First time using. I paid for a corier come and pick up from my home address and deliver tracked recorded and signed for. To which they lost the parcel and can't locate. How is this possible. Also been waiting over a month now and still have not got any answers

I sold an antique recording player on eBay. I booked Hermes to courier it. On reading their T&C's I discovered that they would not insure it because it was antique, but wanting to send it asap and noting that it was housed in a stout wooden box which I had packed securely and with plenty of protection, I thought the addition of plenty of labels indicating "Fragile, please handle with care" would be enough to ensure it reached it's destination intact. How wrong was I? The purchaser immediately put a claim in via eBay and sent me photos of the smashed wooden box. I wanted it returned, and as I had advised free post, eBay declared I had to pay return postage. I contacted Hermes advising they had damaged the item, expecting a return label. No! I had to pay Hermes to return the item. Inspection of the item suggested the parcel had been dropped from a considerable height onto something like a concrete floor. I then disputed with Hermes, to at least get the return of delivery costs and their standard £20 insurance which they incorporate. After many rejections and further claims I got an email "Our delivery process includes a varied network of Service Providers, depots and sorting facilities. Throughout this process there are a number of occasions where the parcels will leave the care of our Service Providers and handlers to be processed via sorting machinery and conveyor belts. As such, any instructions on the parcel, e.g. ‘Fragile’ or ‘This Way Up’ stickers, cannot be followed directly. For this reason, there is comprehensive list of both items excluded from compensation and completely prohibited items on our website, www.myhermes.co.uk and I would like to inform you that ************ items are one of them. I am sorry, we are unable to compensate you with the compensation £ 20.00." They could not even be bothered to inform the items which are "one of them". In other words the damage was probably done out of the care of their Service Providers and therefore not their responsibility. I paid for them to be responsible. My advice is DO NOT USE HERMES, they don't care about or for your parcels. Incidentally don't waste time responding to the Hermes email asking for feedback, they don't read them.

I placed an order with Holland and Barrett one afternoon. Normally I would expect delivery in a few days but it arrived the following morning about 10am...I was amazed!

Do not touch with a barge pole...call themselves a courier company, should be done under the trade descriptions act. As the sender booked for a parcel pick up on Monday..stayed in all day. Did not pick up until Tuesday...offered 50p recompense. Then they tried to pick up on Wednesday.....guess what guys, parcel has already gone. Give customer tracking number and check/call daily as they fail to update status...ask them what is the point....doooohhhhhh. Today, receive an email that delivery will be delayed as parcel is too big for normal courier delivery. They bloody knew the size of the parcel when I booked them...part of the requirements on line. Just screamed for 20 minutes down the phone and low and behold, they can deliver today. Raised a complaint that they have already closed down even though the parcel has still to be delivered. Absolutely disgusting service, no customer care etc etc. Will NEVER use them again

They are disorganised and dishonest. Ordered a birthday present from John Lewis for my granddaughter. The package was sent out in good time. Hermes delivery people sent me a message to say that delivery would be between 9am and 12pm. I stayed at home awaiting delivery. At 1pm they messaged to say that delivery would be between 1pm and 4pm. At 4:39 they messaged to say that the delivery was missed because noone was at home. They then changed it to a problem with parking, even though the street next to the house had plenty of parking. There were only two cars parked!. When I called their automated telephone system it said that the parcel had been delivered to another address, but there was no card from the courier or information. Contacted John Lewis but they have been unable to contact Hermes. Ended up cancelling the order and buying from Amazon. Sent messages to Hermes asking for an explanation as to why the courier lied. No response. I would seriously avoid buying from any retailer that uses Hermes. Possibly the worst courier service in Europe.

My order was booked and confirmed for next day collection ; it was a present and needed to be delivered promptly. I waited from 8am - 10.30pm (I was told that the couriers often collect late into the evening) but it was not collected. It seems to be impossible to speak to anyone at Hermes ; the 'phone number they give is a recorded message telling you to use the website. I emailed and had no response. To get a webchat took nearly 2 hours - they said I should wait & be patient ! No option to talk to someone direct. No delivery estimate had been given but after my second webchat, was told it would be approx 3-5 working days after the collection - which still hadn't happened. Earliest delivery was going to be over a week after booking - far too late for the event. The company has no regard for customer service ; they don't appear to have any control over collection/delivery & don't seem to care. Will never use this company again and urge others to steer clear !
