Having originally booked the long stay car park shortly before my holiday I got the opportunity to upgrade to the short stay. I paid the extra and on arriving at the car park the sign at the entrance stated there were places available. However on entering the car park I found that it was full. I had to wait for someone to leave the car park which is not ideal when you have a flight to catch.

Having praised Newcastle Airport over the years, it was disappointing to see that the balance between customer service and profit has moved firmly to the position of profit at all cost. Jet2 staff at check-in were fantastic as usual. The airport itself looked clean, but there is definately a need for more toilet provision air-side and a chronic lack of seating for passengers. Calling it a Departure Lounge is totally inaccurate, its a retail mall and, unless you are paying to drink alcohol or coffee, you`ll be hard-pressed to find a seat before you hit your gate. Take a look at Las Palmas or Alicante for two examples of how to get the balance right. Long-stay parking was convenient, although the attitude of one courtesy coach driver, when asked to wait a moment, wasnt impressive. "They`ll have to be quick, I dont wait." Passport control was a total nightmare, at 0200 on a Sunday morning, same number of Border Control staff as in January, but now sorting out e-kiosks which werent recognising passports. So three times as long to clear immigration! Security on departure was very busy, but still conducted in a fast, effective and polite manner. So, whilst there are good examples of customer service, there are also opportunities for improvement.

Having just come back from holiday, I am sorry to say that I found the airport rather dreary, and the carpet to gates and up to arrivals could do with a good clean. I think the airport is being left behind in comparison to Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow, it needs a lot of investment to make the experience better, plus if a viewing area was reinstated it would generate monies to fund improvements, I'm sure there are lots of families who would visit just to 'watch' arrivals and departures. Come on Newcastle show the region what you can do.

Not clear on arrival how to go through barrier when one has pre paid. Staff in office however, were very helpful.

I don't like the zigzag queuing system at passport control. It's fine when there is a queue but very annoying when there is no queue and you still have to walk back and forward. Other airports open up the barriers when it is quiet.

Some areas closed and poor signage telling you this. Have to guess where to go.

Disappointed once again with the the airport parking . We have used this parking on a number of occasions and every time we have the same problem on exiting the car park. Your reg is supposed to be read as you enter and leave but every time we go to leave and insert the ticket into the reader our car is not detected and we have to hunt about for our paper work with booking number and car reg and speak to an officer on the system this is not ideal when you’ve had a long flight and it 3 in the morning .

Travelled 15th July for 3 weeks. I used this service last summer and again this year and there was a big difference. This year I had to park the car myself as opposed to having it done for me as advertised, upon our return I had to retrieve our car myself again unlike last year when it was ready and waiting. Why advertise a service and then don't provide it. I have emailed and am currently waiting for a reply. We are booked again in October so I hope the service will be resumed, otherwise all I'm paying extra for is to simply park closer.

The airport itself is too commercial, why do they need to shove goods down your throat when all people want to do is get on a plane and go on holiday

We had to wait for over ten minutes for a bus to get back to our car on our return.

Everything was ok until we returned to airport and had to wait half hour for bus to come , we spoke into intercom and they kept saying he was on his way be ten mins but he was half hour spoiled our experience , would have been quicker walking and when bus came it was empty so he had not been picking people up !

Arrival at start very good, no problem. However on return the car was not available and we had to wait 10 minutes whilst someone went for it. Luckily it was sunny. To be fair the plane was early but as arrivals are monitored and I would expect this should have been noted. Not quite the advertised image.

Had problems entering the car park as the barrier came down before I could enter. Also difficult to find a parking space and had to park on rough ground. However the bus transport was very good and the parking was great value for money although my recent reservation showed an increase of £3.

We paid for three weeks parking in the short stay. Nice and close to the terminal and easy to find the car on return from holiday. Not so impressed with exiting the car park. When I put the parking ticket in the machine to open the barrier, I was informed that I owed £480 for parking (even though I paid in advance). It’s not what you really need after being on a delayed flight and trying to leave the airport at 2.00am!

Not a lot of choice for parking. Upon return to Newcastle Airport in the early hours of the morning I was faced with a problem whilst trying to exit the car park as the machine was looking for payment from me but I had already prepaid so your system does not select the service you are promoting and after several attempt eventually customer service individual managed to open barrier to allow me to exit, pretty poor no apologise given

Parking at the airport is easy to book and but finding spaces in the long stay car park is ridiculously difficult and badly signed. On return there was no sign of any bus so we walked back - not easy when two of the party are over 80. There's nowhere at all to return trolleys so they were strewn throughout the car parks. Pricewise we think it's overpriced compared to other airports we've used.

To be honest i would disagree with the above statement, we arrived at long stay car park having pre paid for parking, your machines are not very clear & rang the buzzer to be grated by a very unhelpful & not very pleasant man who said 'Take a ticket & sort it out later' - once in the terminal at check in travelling with Ryanair, we had to weigh our own bags, which we had never done before, the girl that was meant to be helping people was too busy talking to collegue's at check in desks, we could not work out how to do the label & lost one of the bar codes, the girl at the check in desk made it quiet clear she was not happy with us & we said to her you should have that lady where she is meant to be helping passengers instead of chatting to her mate! Not the start you want to your entry to an airport for the start of your holiday! Your staff could do with doing a 5* Customer training course.

Getting in and out was no problem, security was excellent. Outbound, trying to find parking space was a problem. I must have driven up and down for ten minute, could be a real problem if you were late for your flight. Inbound, after waiting for border control and picking up cases we then had to wait 15 minutes for the bus. The parking in the car park chaotic, cars everywhere, vergs, footways and junctions. Respect to the driver, I would have not been able to drive a bus round those ailes. I'll think twice before I use this car park again.
