As a professional musician who studied at two post secondary institutions, I'm accessing the more advanced end of the information that Adam and Peter have to offer... That said, I've seen them deliver beginner level info and their amazing... Accessible, authentic and absolutely genuine. That they and their concept haven't been snatched up into some sort of offer of association with a traditional "bricks and mortar" music school blows my mind...

Loving Open Studio. The content is fantastic and these guys are absolute masters at what they teach with methods and new thought approaches that revolutionise learning. In some cases these methods have shaved hours and hours off the previous approaches I had taken, and I have already had many a 'penny drop' moment. Not a fault of the instructors but their latest website upgrade has a few problems. Sometimes videos just freeze. And search results on site don't always match the search queries made. Downloaded PDFs could be better labelled too, sometimes they are just named something like 'lesson 4', which doesn't mean much when you come to search for them later. Otherwise absolutely brilliant though!

Lots to learn. Probably too much. Have played jazz for many years, basically for my own enjoyment. The education that this site offers is wonderful, but to improve requires a lot of work and devotion to practice which is at times a struggle. I’m not panning to give up yet and will continue to search out the areas that will serve me best for level I am at.

Thank you for providing the exact structure I needed to improve my playing. Ive just started, but 30 years of self-management with my practice has not turned out as well as it should have. I started life with a gifted ear and singing voice, and have been frustrated in music ever since winning awards before my voice changed until I found your program. I just started, but everything is going great so far!

I love that there is a community associated with the Open Studio teaching program. Also, there are frequent videos, and updates, at least once per week. Peter & Adam have great energy & enthusiasm. I've had one of Peter's albums for several years. I just happened across an ad for OS, I think on Facebook. Maybe you should do more advertising? It's great that a contemporary jazz musician like Peter (and Adam too) is offering such an extensive program like OS. And, Harry Likas in the bargain. Absolutely great!

Love the contents and pacing :) I think the website is a little difficult to navigate. It is hard for me to get back to where I left off last time in the jazz lesson jump-start. I usually have to open it through my history tab as it is not easy to search directly through the site.

Love the Double bass instructors. I'm a beginner at the age of 62 wanting to learn how to play the double bass. I've been playing the electric bass for 30 plus years, but now i want to dive into the double bass. Open Studio is the perfect place for me to get my feet wet.

Great content - but having trouble saving my spot in the lessons when I get interrupted and want to come back to it - especially because I am an intermediate player with lots of gaps so I am filling in as necessary but also taking the classes in order …

I thought I'd give it a try, but I had low expectations of how useful online teaching could be, and I have been absolutely blown away by how fantastic the teaching is! I'm actually addicted to practicing. Absolutely worth every penny!

I'm sorry to say that I regret my purchases! I had high hopes, OpenStudio really does have a stellar cast of amazing musicians! I purchased 2 jazz piano courses, I printed my first 100 page course to discover that it is difficult to read, painfully compressed. It's the font size and bunched notes that make it more of a visual challenge rather than a learning experience. Then, I started my second course to discover that the video player has just one setting - video quality... you cannot project/cast to another device, there is no ability to move forward or backwards, just pause, or restart from the beginning with no fast forward!!! Can you imagine? It is exactly like those infomercial ad players that do not allow any control. So, if I want to back up 15 seconds - just reload the page and start over??? Sadly all of the contributors have attached themselves to an anchor, I just wish there was a boat attached.

Hi David, I love giving great news to folks. There are a plethora of keyboard shortcuts to address your issues and more! Apologies that they weren't more evident. If you press the three vertical dots to the right on the playbar, and select "keyboard shortcuts" (or simply press the "?" key) you will see a bunch of common and some even unique ways to make better use of the video, most importantly is the left and right arrows while playing to quickly advance or go back 5 seconds. You can always drag and move the playback indicator on the playbar to move throughout the lesson. Happy practicing! Dan Martin Co-Founder, Open Studio
