Fantastic and superbly presented courses, lessons and overall experience! Top notch teachers with interesting live sessions and interaction. Adam Maness is my favorite, his playing, attitude and approach is always very engaging and makes me want to practice more. The soundslice integration works very well with the transcriptions and the accompanying worksheets are of high quality. I especially like the Guided practice sessions with band backing and in general the good balance of going deep/technical and on the other hand keeping things fun and approachable.

Bardzo pomocna strona edukacyjna, jak w mojej pracy nauczyciela w klasie fortepianu jazzowego, tak i w samorozwoju.

It’s straight into what can be used in your playing, today. Also, in you dont know what to practice when at your instrument… it’s there. Something to get you going. Great teachers! So high level both at their instrument but also at humbleness.

It’s everything needed to increase your confidence in performance through practice from the beginning to advanced levels of musicianship. All with personal control of speed plus the ability to isolate and practice the most difficult passages of standard jazz tunes and great teacher skills of the various instruments.

Your entertaining and informative podcasts have improved my appreciation of jazz. I'm currently enjoying Peter Martin's January series of jazz exercises.

Fantastic educational tools and worthwhile conversation all around. Adam Maness' The Legendary Scale lesson is a meal in every chapter. I'm shocked at how much musical insight I've gained from just this one series of lessons.

Chris Parks and Thomas Echols have offered a whole new way to look at improvisation, chord melody, and comping. Both are extremenly knowledgeable, very positive, and make the class experience enjoyable.

The best find to get familiar with the jazz idiom. I am really grateful that you share your knowledge and experience in this amazing understandable way. Been playing the piano for 30 years and looking for a way to give meaning to any note, also the non-diatonic ones. I'm not there yet, but your lessons point me to the right direction and I'm convinced I will get there. Many many thanks and chapeau!

Guided lessons are excellent. Scott could improve his lessons by suggesting fingering

I've only been subscribed for a couple weeks but I'm already very impressed. I started with the jazz piano beginner material even though my expectation was that I would blow through it pretty quickly. I overestimated the value of my knowledge! The emphasis on listening and setting a solid basis already have my solos sounding better and my confidence growing in each step. I've supplemented with Adam's genius chord warmups because I think they're fun and touch on skills I've long wanted to improve. Before subscribing, I read some older reviews saying Open Studio had good material but didn't give a learner a clear pathway to get going. It is very clear that the folks at Open Studio took that criticism seriously. The pathway so far has been easy to follow and well thought out.

I am a pianist with a classical background and Open Studio has been helping me a lot in my journey towards jazz music. The courses are interesting, fun and well structured, and provide plenty of concepts around which you can structure an efficient practice routine. Highly recommended!
