“Whoever on Origin broadband since they change provider should check their invoice if they are paying extra every month compared to new customers. They're charging $6 extra off me for the same plan since then, still wanna claimed they are giving me loyalty offers after I called and asked. Also put me on hold Multiple times cause the guy cannot make decisions. This is really ridiculous.”
“I moved to Origin because they offered fast service and low price. But I extremely regretting my move to Origin. Sometime I can't do my job properly because of very slow service. I don't know what to do? waste of time and money. strongly unrecommended otherwise we will regret like us”
“Worst customer service available, will not provide assistance and help of any sort.
Twice now they have failed to perform an action request, stating policy and alike, completely disregard Australian consumer laws.”
“It was a huge ordeal to get connected, 2 years on I have dial up speeds. ... Download capacity forget it...I can't even download apps on my phone anymore”
“Had to call them because they didn't send the NBN HFC modem. We thought because we had Origin energy, choosing Origin Broadband would just make sense or something. Also had to call them to get the bloody thing working even though they said they'd handle it all by themselves.
Don't even bother with them if you're gonna play online on anything or use some kind of real time service (something like Remote Desktop). They have CGNAT forced in their network and you cannot opt out of it which causes serious issues for stuff like that. Wii U and Nintendo Switch online are literally unusable and other games have really high latency despite playing on local servers (Tested with Fortnite, has over 200ms ping on Oceania servers at *all* times).
It's been like 6 days and I'm already gonna cancel my plan with them. Do yourself a favor and use another provider. I'd personally recommend Vodafone.
Origin should just stick to what they do best: Energy.”
“modem arrived 28/05/2022. still waiting for connection.multiple premisses of call back. non received sop far
would strongly recommend using any other provider.
Colin”
“So i started using origin broadband since 2 months, ever since i have been experiencing very bad signal. A technician has came to check the issue and he found a problem in our area connections.. so today i called the customer service to check the issue again, he was not helpful at all, saying that because the router is in the garage the signal is bad.. so i explained that even in the garage there is no internet connection. Then he refused to send anyone to check it.. when I asked to cancel the subscription he was like “110%, do you want to cancel it tonight?” … what a good service!!”
“Actually everything from the beginning went wrong. I have never had such a crappy experience in my whole life. Some how got rid of them in 2 years because of their crappy 2 years contract. Not at all recommended. If have no internet broadband in your area other than origin, and you are about to die, still I will not recommend origin, you can still peaceful die, than these guys crawl into your life and make it horrible.
Customer service 0/10 - there is no a thing called handover, saving communication in notes , nothing.
Price 2/10 - there are other providers , but just that there was no one my rural locality
Delivery - 0/10 very bad internet service delivery, no communication , nothing
Returns and refunds - 0/10 no confirmation email saying that my complaints has been registered. I spend more 3 hours on the phone , no complaint registered no refund received no communication at all.
I have also forwarded complaint to consumer quote. I have not received my refund yet.”
“I should have read these reviews and understood what a deplorable rubbish service origin’s internet service is. DO NOT DO NOT Sign up you will be in a world of misery where you realise even if they are cheaper having absolutely unreliable service which is hardly ever available, continuous drop outs, buffering having to reload is absolutely the equivalent of having no service and being charged for it! Pay the higher prices and at least get what you pay for a reliable service especially as so
Many of us are dependent on the internet . Stay away from origin internet absolutely unethical of them to offer this rubbish service and take people’s money for it they should be shut down by the telco ombudsman!”
“After months of being charged despite ending service and using another provider, they sent me someone else's invoice!! It showed they'd done the same overcharge to the other customer too!!!
SERIOUS DATA BREACH!!! THATS A COMPANY CLOSER!
Happened around same time as receiving these Migration emails....”
“BEWARE BEWARE AND PLEASE BE AWARE!!!!! This company is extremely misleading, dishonest and totally all the staff members are incompetent to deal with. Had internet connection that wasn’t reliable after numerous complaints from the public.... they migrated their services to Aussie broad band once this migration occurred without our consent our landline number. was inactive with them and had to fight with them on a daily basis to have our landline number resolved for an entire 4.5 months until it was resolved !!!!!
Take your hard earned money elsewhere this company needs to get shut down and all staff made redundant for not caring on their work.
I would not never recommend them !!”
“Setup was ok with existing modem and strong internet connection until THERE WAS NONE for 8 hours (at the moment- could be longer) on a Saturday night/Sunday morning with no customer help available. My Origin app is working fine, until I click "manage internet", at which point I receive an "invalid user credentials" message.
This is unacceptable and I will be returning to my previous broadband provider. A little buffering is better than hours without any connection at all!”
“Do not go with Origin. I am on a premium plan and the internet speed is extremely slow to the point I have had to take days off of work. There is a lot of confusion on their part when to pay the bill as there isn't a feature on the Origin app which lets me pay and I missed a payment once so when asking for a payment extension these guys refused to give me one despite me being a loyal customer and holding other accounts eg. electricity, gas with them. Seriously, save yourself the headache and go with a better known provider.”
“Run a mile in any other direction..
below is a blow by blow of how bad their service is...
July -
Request origin broadband.
Setup at wrong address
Invoice sent even when the NBN line was not installed.
August 2021
I was notified I need to rasie it with NBN
Mid-august NBN notified me that no need to contact them
Finally Origin booked an agent to come out at the end of .
New invoice was $180
I raised it with Origin..
August 20 I got an email that a case was raised and $91 credit will be issued
Sep
got an invoice in credit $6
Sep 11th
got an invoice outstanding $387
Internet gets suspended
Internet gets re-instated
October- Jan
Things seem smooth
Feb invoice
$85 - due on the 10th even after stating it needs to be set on the 15th (pay day).
Service suspended immediately
Payment made on 15th as per norm and I got debited, 2 payments taken and service still not active as the origin broadband team needs to wait 3 days for payment to refelct!
Service requested to be canceled on the 16th… with refund requested
Service cant be canceled unless you call and speak to someone..
I called several times and waited 30- 45 minutes each time.
I requested a callback and it got escalated to a manager who tried to call me, I missed the call.
I then called back and spoke to someone who cancel my service in feb
March -- my account gets debited….
Im lost for words.”
“Origin Broadband now has a policy that you cannot opt out of CGNAT. This was a change from past policy, one we were not warned about, and means subscriptions we already bought (Nintendo online yearly subscription for example) are now useless. I was repeatedly told that while they technically COULD disable CGNAT, it was policy not to do so because (it was implied to me), it is cheaper for them this way.
I will, of course, be cancelling our origin broadband account, but I just want to warn you all: don’t get origin if you own a Nintendo Switch and want to play online, or any similar system.”
“After the migration to a new internet provider, My internet stopped working and customer service was unable to help me or give me any directions as they do not know enough about the migration and could not fix my issue. That is ridiculous. Terrible customer service.”
