Poor communication. A hold was put on one of my claims. The only reason I knew that was because I asked. They never let me know what was going on. I pay my bill on time. Why can’t they?

I had high hopes for Pets Best! I submitted my first claim which included a years worth of flea/tick and heart worm meds for my dog, because that’s how I buy it. Along with his vaccines. Due to Covid, the vet treated the appointment as an emergency appt, and charged $17 which was denied. For a claim of $497 - they only paid $122 for preventive. Very low benefits for the wellness portion of the plan. Beware, once you sign up, you are locked in for 1 year. I previously had VPI. For the same claim, they would have reimbursed me over $215.

Insurance advertises to be one of the best, but in my experience they leave a lot to be desired. You are unable to contact customer service by phone without a 45 -60 minute wait time. And it takes 4-6 weeks for them to pay their claims. To me, this is not acceptable!

It takes too long to get paid out. I get the same exact generic email every time I put a claim in stating they are overwhelmed with claims. Hire more people then. This is not a new problem for you.

I got a response from a previous review I wrote saying your plan is unlimited. However, on my claim it clearly says it got to the maximum and for a vaccine that cost $33 only $11.11 was covered! I submitted a claim of $110 and only got $63 back! I’m also trying to add my bank account and it keeps giving me an error!

The plan is unlimited for accidents and illnesses. Insurance is meant to help you with the unexpected, broken bones, urinary blockages or cancer. Wellness is not insurance, its a benefit meant to help you offset the cost of what you would be spending whether you have insurance or not, so its not going to pay your full bill for these wellness visits. We make the wellness benefits very clear online, your quote and the documents we email after you enroll. If you would like us to review the policy in detail, give us a call.

Taking 20% of the money going towards the deductible is not right. Would not recommend this service.

Hi! You select your copay and deductible when you enroll. If you choose 80% then yes, your copay will be 20%. Have a good day!

Thought the policy would pay for more.... I bought all options available with lowest deductible, didn’t even cover basic exam! PetsBest should be ashamed. My advice, don’t waste your money. SB

Hi Shannon, the policy did cover your pet's wellness claim. We denied the illness claim as this condition originated prior to your coverage. Insurance is not meant to cover any issue that started before you paid premiums into a company. If you have questions about your claims, please contact us.

Very frustrating how they pay out claims. I have had several claims paid out already this year and now (July 2020) I am being denied because of "deductibles" that have clearly already been met. My dog also was neutered because of chronic bladder infections and epidydimitis and that was denied because they don't cover neutering even though it was medically necessary. Very frustrating.

I’ve had good service in the past, but for some reason service has gone downhill. My pet had an over $400 bill that I only got $80 back for. I haven’t submitted a claim in almost a year, and I pay $50 a month to make sure things like this don’t happen. I was very disappointed.

Even with my premium package on both my dogs, you dont cover certain items that are always charged with each visit and you limit the number of vaccinations you cover that are needed for the dogs. Probably going to change and go with Banfield.

The agent could not definitively pin down the date my policy went into effect. So now, I had to pay out of pocket. The claims take longer than the site claims it should and a game as to what is covered. Not happy with this company.

We are still waiting to hear back regarding our first claim. Waited on the phone for over 20 minutes and told we’d hear within the next week. A week later still no word from them.

I sent in two claims & haven't received any remuneration yet. Also, the claim statement illustrates a 45 percent claim payment. I purchased the elite plan for one dog only & my cost is $86.00 per month. I really expected better indemnity than this & a more timely response. So far, I'm not happy with your company. I'm considering a switch to another company.

I have tried to reach them on numerous occasions in regards to my cat and I have not gotten a response. My pet has a doctors appointment coming up and this needs to be rectified before I can go to the appointment and I have sent emails and phone calls sent the necessary paperwork and you guys have still not changed it and if it is not changed my claim will be rejected and I’ll be responsible for something that you did not update. I haven’t even been a member for a month yet and I’m already dissatisfied

In the past I have used Nationwide Pet Insurance. They are much faster at processing the submitted claims and their EOB's are much easier to understand.
