It is too difficult to get in contact with a representative for any questions or concerns. I was on hold one time for 30 minutes and could not hold any longer.

I have always had Pets Best for my pets for years and claims have always been paid within 10-14 days. Now I find that it’s 30-45 days for claims. I’m very disappointed in their turnaround time.

Good insurance for my dog but the claim process takes over a month from submission. I’ve had other pet insurance where the claim was always processed within a week.

It’s okay. No teeth cleaning unless it was done when the dog was very young before teeth cleaning would have ever been needed. All Vets will tell you teeth cleaning is necessary for health but never covered. Most annoying is every time I have submitted a claim it has taken a long time on return because apparently they are always having an unusually high demand. It gets you some money back, but is nothing special.

Teeth cleaning is covered at any age as long as you have the BestWellness rider. What you are referring to is our periodontal disease clause. Our periodontal coverage essentially works like this: From age 0 to age two, there is no teeth-cleaning requirement in order to have periodontal coverage. In other words, as long as periodontal disease is not pre-existing to the policy when your pet is age 0 to age two, your pet is not required to have a teeth cleaning to have periodontal coverage. For pets aged 3+, Pets Best will verify with your vet a teeth cleaning was done in the previous 13 months. As long as that teeth cleaning comes through with no signs or symptoms of periodontal disease, your pet will have coverage if this develops. This cleaning must be done under general anesthesia. Additionally, any pre-existing periodontal disease will not be eligible for coverage under our policy. Your pet must be free of all dental disease at time of sign up.

It took quite a long time to have a simple claim processed. This was my first experience with Pets Best and hope this will be improved in the future.

Long waits for customer service by phone and no response to email inquiries regarding claims. Took 6 weeks to process a claim and applied copays I never heard of.

Hi, we understand your concerns. A copay is the leftover balance after we pay the 70/80/90% of the medical bills based on the policy you selected upon enrollment. We do not pay 100% of your invoice, therefore, the remaining 30/20/10% will be your copay. We recommend you speak with our customer care team to gain a better understanding of the specific policy you selected. We hope your pet is doing well.

Going on 6 weeks since I sent in claim. This is lot longer than they indicated when I signed up with them. I think should never be later than 3-4 weeks.

I am paying the majority of the bills for emergencies. I don’t feel a need to have this insurance. I have had to use it twice and never get back over $50 or $60 dollars on bills that are hundreds of dollars. Medications not covered are another thing. If a pet had a procedure and the medication prescribed isn’t covered what’s the point of paying for this insurance.? I am going to do my due diligence and see if all pet insurance is the same. I just don’t see any reason to have it

Hi, your claims will be processed and paid out based on the level of coverage you enroll in. You selected an annual deductible of $250 which you met and both your claims were processed and paid in your favor. We recommend you speak with a customer care representative to better understand the policy you selected.

Coverage is good if u meet all the qualifiers but rates go up significantly each year. Also can take very long to process claims.

Yes, prices will tend to go up as your pet ages. Much like in human health care, an older person is going to be more expensive to insure than a younger one. Similarly, a pet's chances of becoming ill will increase as they age. The insurance premiums are designed to reflect this increased risk of illness. Rates are based on pet's age, breed, and cost of veterinary care in your area. You'll be happy to know that prices do not go up because of your pet's personal claims filing activity. We notify you 40 days prior to renewal to let you know what to expect and renewal is 12 months from your enrollment date.

First they said claims take 30 days to process. Second time we contacted customer service, they said 39 days. And third time, up to 45 days. They keep adding. We’re at day 39 and our claim indeed remains unprocessed (much less refunded). They blame it on the “high volume of new customers”, great, but why not hire more employees and avoid ignoring current loyal customers?

Hi, claims do not take 30 days to process unless they are wellness claims. Claims on average can take 39-45 days depending on the complexity of the claim and if medical records are requested. We appreciate your patience.

It is very easy to file a claim on the app. When i have spoken to them over the phone they have been friendly and answered all my questions. However, the processing time for claims is ridiculous. Other people i have spoken to with other pet insurance companies have said their processing time is a few days at most. I waited over a month for mine to process every time i have had to file a claim. However the EOB does explain the coverages and what was paid well

I am disheartened with the length of time that it takes for a claim to be processed. I also feel that a claim is likely to be approved while the deductible is still needed to be met, but once coverage should kick in and the deductible paid for, the claims are denied. We had several claims last year and follow up appointments with a specialist that was denied even though we were trying to figure out what was wrong with our puppy and was not a pre-condition. We purchased the policy when she was around 8 weeks old so besides genetic conditions, what could have been a pre-condition to get the tests necessary to help our puppy. Now I am stuck with a carrier that takes months to “review” a file, never contacts me for further dialog or explanation and simply denies claims. I cannot move insurance carriers because now all that She has endured will be deemed a pre-existing condition since no one offers a retro date on pet policies. All in all I am disgusted and ashamed I failed my dog with this coverage. I should have listened more to the reviews.
