DO NOT RENT A STORAGE UNIT HERE!!! IT IS A SCAM! 1st—I rented a lower unit online, and my contract states that it is a lower unit, so I am paying more for the convenience. Once I grabbed the keys, I was switched to an upper unit, and I am still waiting for the price adjustment. Less than 4 months later, my $122/per month was upped to $150.00, to which I complained. They reduced it back to $122/per month, and after my September payment, my rent was elevated to $172/mo. I haven't even been there a year...I have had my unit since the end of January! It has been 8 months, and I have had 2 rent increases! I am disgusted that this scam harms so many people who may be unable to afford their units. I am going to make this a legal issue. GO ELSEWHERE; DO NOT RENT A SPACE HERE, AND READ YOUR CONTRACTS BECAUSE THE INCREASES ARE ARBITRARY MONEY GRABS.

After moving out, setting a checkout date in July, and getting clearance from a worker that "I am all set to go", I still got charged for the following month (August) When I arrived at the location where I had my space, I tried talking with the worker, and they pretty much told me though luck and I should have been better informed. After notifying them that their worker said I am all set, they smiled and refused to help me any further. I did not occupy the space at all for the month of August and still got charged because I left my Auto-Pay on. When I tried talking with customer service agents online, some would disconnect right away without even hearing my issue, or some would just ignore what I am saying and kept saying their policy is firm. I have been a client of their for years and it felt like they are just trying to suck more money out of me. I then tried calling their customer support phone number and kept getting transferred between people, or hung up on. It seemed like they just wanted to transfer me around without actually helping. Trying to move out of the space has been a nightmare, and it seems like the company just wants to suck money out of their clients. 100% LOST MY BUSINESS!!!!

When I moved into my unit in February, I was quoted a rental price of $90 to $100 per month. This was comfortably within my budget and seemed manageable. However, within a month, I was informed that I needed to purchase insurance, bumping my monthly payment up to $130. Now, here’s where the plot thickens. In June, I received notice that my rent would increase from $130 to $172 per month, effective immediately. This means that within just six months of my tenancy, my rent has ballooned significantly. I’ve been a loyal customer who has never missed a payment, but this month, due to an unforeseen financial emergency, I informed the office that I would make my payment on August 14th. Despite this, I’ve been relentlessly hounded with phone calls and emails as if I’ve suddenly mastered the art of evasion. And the grand finale? I went to my storage unit to grab a bag, only to find myself locked out until Wednesday August 14th. To add insult to injury, I now have to pay $200 just to regain access to my own belongings. I’m sharing this not just to vent but as a public service announcement. Tell a friend to tell a friend: save your coins and think twice before renting storage space. You might just discover that by the time you’re ready to move out, you’ve spent enough to rent a small apartment!

Price-gouging is alive and well. PS bought the store facility where I rent, 1 year ago; The rent had just gone up from $75/mo, to $83/mo. 1 year later, they’ve raised it to $113/mo. A 50% increase in about a year. Public Storage is clearly an organized crime syndicate.

Your rate changes/increases is unbelievable!! In March 2024, my storage rent was $51.00 for a 5 x 7 sq ft space. Three months later the rate increased to $90.00 for the same space. I've just received an email from PS, stating my rate will be $127.00 on 09/01. in less than 6 months my rates have gone from $51.00 to $127.00 per month, that is a $76 dollar increase.

Today was the day I found out all my crystals 🔮 jewelry that my mother left me before she died, couches, bed, antiques and clothes and shoes were sold at an auction on July 24 or 23rd for $0.00 For the past seven years I had been a loyal customer and A new employee by the name of Susan gave me misinformation last Monday and told me my possessions would not go into the auction status till this week. My heart ❤️ is broken. These people at the Brighton, Massachusetts location truly don't care if you're facing financial hardship. I was juggling three separate storage fees this past year and this location at 156 Lincoln Avenue knew I was financially strapped and instead of helping me by lowering my storage rares they kept penalizing me for being late and increased my monthly by %20 extra till it got so bad I was habitually late. Last week Susan said I had time to pay but they auctioned off my possessions without leaving a detailed voice message. Instead of telling me I had 24 hours to pay my lien fees to prevent the auction status they never left one message stating when the auction would take place. Yesterday Susan lied to me and said the owner could give me everything back because there were no bidders and I could take a flight from chicago to Boston to pick up my belongings. Today the owner John stated that a vendor took all my things free of charge and the vendor refuses to let me have anything back including an emerald ring my mother left me after she died. I now have nothing from my mother and I wish to warn all of you not to trust public storage.

Wow, I just got off the phone with like the third representative in the last year after noticing on my credit report that my rent that I carefully researched after moving here from a huge house to a two bedroom apartment after being hit by a drunk driver so that I could go toone of the best hospitals that my lease went from 134 to 187 without any notification and this month is now $230. I went from six figures to $1000 a month. They don’t care at all. it’s in the contract they say well I was a realtor and million dollar house contracts and would explain my contracts to my clients not try to hide things. I didn’t get to say oh my rate is 6% when I got the listing and then when I sold the house said oh never mind it’s 20% now now. 😱🤯🤬 all he could say was well I guess you better move out before the first because if you don’t it’ll charge you again I am beside myself. I’ve had two neck fusions. I don’t know how I’m gonna move out of a 10 x 30 unit in a week when I am 100% alone out here and they won’t let you have garage sales so is this how they get more money they compensate your unit and then they sell your great great grandmother 200-year-old antiques because it means nothing to them, but it means everything to the person that has them !!!! I have had many storage units throughout the years and I have never in my life come across this. I have only been there since April 1923 and have had two huge price increases so if anybody has any suggestions or any ideas of how I can fight this, please let me know. Thank you 🙏🏻

Public Storage raises they monthly rate without notice. Not just a few dollars a month but $50 a month every 3 months until it is no longer affordable. I believe they want you to abandoned your stuff. I understand a rate increase maybe 8 or 10 or 12 dollars a month. Every 6 to 12 months. But $50? Common, WTF?

Man I should have read the reviews before I rented a space. If your smart enough to read the reviews then take advantage of this warning and run away. I only gave 1 star because I could not give 0 stars. I rented online and called an associate to tell them I needed a 10X20 to store a hot tub in and when I showed up with my moving van my unit was a 10X20 but it did not have any door big enough to fit my hot tub into. I called customer service because that is the only number that answers. They were able to move me to another 10x20 unit that had a big door and at the time I was happy. I get half way moved in and they tell me I have to come down and do a transfer when I arrive they charge me a $52.00 transfer fee for their mistake and a unit I never stepped foot into. I called customer service to complain and get a refund only to be told I have to contact the local District manager to air my complaint and try to get a refund. I have left many messages but have yet to hear from anyone. I would have stayed at least 5 years as I am in the service. Needless to say Im pulling my contents and giving my hard earned money to a place that respects people and takes responsability of their mistakes. On a side note Mice set up shop in my container in less than a week. Joe Fitzgerald Omaha Nebraska

This review is for the public storage on wrondel st. in reno nv. Ill start off by saying that I've had nothing but awesome experiences by every employee except this rotten, nasty, overzealous, power thirsty red head troll named Kristen who is all of 5 feet tall that I believe is the new management ( if she is management, what on earth were they thinking giving this poor excuse of an employee a management title.) Anyway, I went in to pay the $114 bill for mine and my fiancés unit a week or so ago, paid with a hundred dollar bill and a 20 dollar bill for I believe a 10x10 which is a bit steep if you ask me but I do like the fact that its climate controlled, not that its necessary for any of our belongings but I do appreciate the fact that our stuff isn't cooking in some metal box in this nv heat. Well to start they didn't have change, so I was forced to put down the remaining $6 that they owed me into next months rent which I now I guess just get to eat because, Kristen decided to hit on me, repeatedly telling me how much my tattoos turned her on and asked if I'd like to go get a drink with her, well after her many attempts at trying to I guess hit on me, I had to politely tell her that I was indeed engaged to be married and that im very happy and in love with my fiancé, I told her that I did very much appreciate the compliments on my tattoos and everything but I'm sorry im a loyal guy and I wouldn't be able to go get a drink with her. She looked disappointed but was sorta I guess friendly and a little defeated but told me to have a good day and if I needed anything not to hesitate letting her or one of the other employees know. I said thank you and left. Well fast forward to yesterday which is about a week later I suppose, I go down to use the restroom while my fiancé is going through boxes of stuff to donate only to return to our unit to find my fiancé holding a piece of paper and envelope looking mad and like she might cry, I ask whats wrong and she tells me Sandra (who is wonderful btw) came and gave that to her and said it was specifically from Kristen and because of her that we received this 2 week eviction notice on the grounds that we are either staying passed operating hours or attempting to "live" in our unit. Now as much of a blast that attempting to "live" in our unit with myself my fiancé, two cats, two dogs, a ferret and a chameleon and a 30 gallon fish tank full of salt water fish and a two bedroom house amount of furniture and belongings would be trying to discreetly pull that off in a 10x10 unit, im gonna have to say that that's both impossible and sounds absolutely awful, and id never put my self or my fur and scale family through something like that. So we now have 12 days with what they said was the ability to move that date closer at their discretion if they just decide to for whatever reason to get all our stuff packed up and cleaned out all because I want to be faithful to my future wife and not go out with some bad attitude having midget that can't handle rejection? And no refund of any kind or asking me my side of things, we are just out and that's that, oh and I forgot to mention I happened to run in to our unit after work last week to drop off a box and this same Kristen person had some guy that drove a work truck and was clearly a construction worker and herself followed me up to our unit and walked by my particular unit a few times while giving me dirty looks and trying to intimidate me, then proceeded to go an isle or two over and talk about how these "mother f-ing" scumbags were going to get a double lock on their unit because she just knows either us or another family were living in their units and she was gonna put a stop to any homeless pieces of s*&%$ trying to live in "HER" facility. I don't know if I was meant to hear this or n not but regardless it was off putting, and offensive and not even close to something that should be coming from a managers mouth. Bottom line, do yourself a favor and put your stuff somewhere other than where a business with a clearly horrible judge in management is. Avoid Wrondel Street public storage and you'll be doing better already. Plus $114 a month for dealing with that plus a small over priced unit. Trust and believe, next time I'll run the opposite direction and I recommend you do the same.

DISHONEST! AVOID THIS COMPANY! This company brings you in with a good price and a pleasant agent to start business but increase rate without any warning. Customer Service is never at office and no one answers the phone. Absolutely horrible experience. Malden MA location increased price rate this month (July) by $70.00. Tried to reach office to understand why I went from $208.00 to $271.00 there was no return call to me but a ridiculous email sent a few hours later stating “I was denied a rate review”. I did not request a review - I simply called the local agent trying to understand what is going on as I am only seeing this new figure when I was about to pay bill. A few hours later a ridiculous email came. I’ve never experienced anything like this. Evasive! It’s a shame that responses are handled that way. Absolutely terrible and shocking! They really deserve ZERO STARS, but it does not give that option. Totally disgusted and turned off by this experience. Public Storage cannot be trusted as you will never know when these jacked up prices will occur! And what’s worse, Customer Service and agent cannot be reached!

I have never received such poor customer service in my life! I am an existing client with a unit we have had for our business for over 10 years and called customer service to ask about pricing for the holiday weekend and options to getting a bigger or second unit. Denise with customer service was so rude as soon as she answered the phone. Her tone, her demeanor, was all miserable and it seamed as though she was looking to do as little work as possible today and her last priority was to assist any existing customers with their needs. She then refused to speak with me because I was not an administrator on the account even though I assured her I didnt need any assistance regarding our existing account. If that is company policy she could have gone about telling me she cannot assist me in a more professional way. Due to our interaction this morning I will be pulling our business from Public Storage and moving to your direct competitor. This is not how you treat customers that support your business.

They prorate the first month and not the last so that you pay the full month when you’re ready to leave. I had a contract for about 2 years, the price started at $189per month when I left (24 months later) the price was $411 per month. They raised the price every few months once they have you in there. It’s clean and are so your stuff won’t get stolen but they’ll rob you by taking your money legally.

For 3 days during peak move in/out time (end of month and 1st of the month, no onsite agent available and no way to get a question answered; the app does have a live chat, but the responses are general, rather than specific to my needs. For the cost of the rental, one which expect SOME customer service.

Stay away from Public Storage. They will continue to raise your rates!!!! In 25 months they have raised my monthly rate by 55% from $179 (trying to get you in the door) to $401!!! And this is just for a small 10' x 10' unit in Picket St in Alexandria VA. I contacted them asking for some release and they said, "NO". I've contacted the BBB and basically Public Storage is holding me as hostage since I'm not in VA at the moment and don't have any other options! I understand that prices do increase but not at 55% in 25 months. Also, they are advertising my same unit for $185 (on line). REMEMBER - that is just to get you in the door, then they will raise your rates!!!!!

I am very disappointed in your company. I have been a loyal customer for over three years, never being late on a payment and you raise my rent every few months, no one can afford this. You asked if I wanted a lower cost unit, yes I do and I will find a lower cost unit with another storage company. BUYER BEWARE! Your rent goes up quarterly. A lot! I started at 169, I am now paying 395 and no one will talk to you, just the property manager who cannot do anything. The elevators go out regularly, there are new rules on how to enter and exit every time I go there…. I had to let someone out last time. It is TERRIBLE!
