I rented a unit in January 2025 in a promotional rate. It was in a good location, the size I needed and the rate was within my budget. The promotion was for the 2nd month free which i did not get a whole month free. Within 4 months the rate for my unit increased by 25%and the Store managers request for exemption was denied. After speaking with 2 different customer service agents they offered me a1 time discount of $60. I actually recieved less than that. I am a senior citizen. The storage is for my 94 year old Dad. I explained that the same unit, a little further South, was renting for $70 less. I was told it's not personal, it's just business. Well, it's personal to me! I am not a first time public storage customer, but it will be the last time! On the positive side, all the store managers I have fair with have been great! I give them a 5 star review!

If I could give this place zero stars I would . The unit was fine and the people that work there were great. It was when we went to move out that the issues began. We tried to move out on the 31 st of the month which was a Sunday. We couldn’t get anyone in the office so I went online and did it . Shocker … it apparently never went through. I then called the corporate office and they told me I had to pay for the next month(it was auto drafted out of my acct). I explained the situation to the person in the phone , which apparently was the highest manager available and he told me they wouldn’t refund my money. We had been with them for four years , never once missed a payment and he refused to help. Do not waste your money, no matter how good the deal seems . There are plenty of other storage places around with amazing customer service . This is NOT one of them .

In just two years, my rental rate at Public Storage nearly doubled. When I inquired about the increase, staff casually remarked, “We’re not a nonprofit,” and “It’s a sign of the times.” This isn’t about covering costs—it’s about maximizing profits. In 2024, Public Storage reported revenues of $4.696 billion and $3.44 billion in gross profit, boasting a gross margin of approximately 73.3% . Such practices highlight a broader issue: until consumers collectively reject this level of corporate greed, companies like Public Storage will continue to exploit their customers. If you’re currently using their services, consider moving out. If you’re thinking about signing up, look elsewhere. Let’s not support businesses that prioritize profits over fair treatment.

My son had his unit for about a year, the price went up and then he went to get stuff out of his unit and it had been broken into. The lock the company provides was cut and ALL his stuff was stolen. A unit a few away from his was cut as well. They have CCTV, locked gate and a lock on the unit. Lot of good that did. Someone had to have seen something, as they called the next morning when he discovered it and the police were there. That tells me they watch the video every morning.

I am a Public Storage by way of purchase through Storage King. Before PS bought my facility, I had a late fee and made an agreement with Storage King. Now, PS will not honor that agreement, won't accept documentation from Storage King about the agreement and won't let me into my unit to even move out. What a horrible company that won't honor an agreement from a purchase.

Don't fall for their online specials. I rented a unit for $140.00 a month. After three payments they raised the rent to $210 a month. They said " that is what similar units go for." I went to there website and they were still advertising the same size unit for $149.00. This leads me to believe this is a classic "bait and switch" scheme. Buyer beware.

I’m a Veteran. I was paying $215 a month. After one year I was bumped up to $282 a month. No statement or bill break down to show if I even got my discount. Over a 30% increase is not acceptable.

Rent went up 50% after 6 months, now another 50% after another 6 months, so has doubled in one year. At another Public Storage a few miles away the rate is $150 a month less. Too much stuff to move right now, but will move ASAP. Just be aware that the monthly rate may sound good at first, but it WILL increase semi-anually and substantially.

I closed out my storage unit on March 4th and public storage is still charging me for a full month. Renters beware!!!!!!! My suggestion would be to try a different company and stay far away from public storage!

I would not use public storage on 44th NE Bryant, in Oklahoma City Oklahoma. They allow you to continuously be broken into. While always increasing your storge rates.I was there 4 years and as of March 3 2025.I been broken into 4 times now.TheGates are left open so people can come and go as they please. Nothing has been done to stop the continued Theft...

I rented a storage space at this facility, only to find that the access was terrible. Every time I needed to get to my unit, I had to back out of a long driveway just to reach my space—an inconvenient and frustrating setup. When I first signed up, they contacted me immediately because I had turned off auto-pay. I did this intentionally due to past experiences with large corporate companies that often charge unnecessary fees. While they may eventually refund incorrect charges, they prefer to take the money upfront, counting on the fact that many customers won’t have the time or resources to dispute them. When I moved out, I vacated the unit on the second of the month, yet they still attempted to charge me for the entire month. It’s no surprise that these companies have such poor reviews and low ratings—they take advantage of customers, squeezing every last penny out of them simply because they can. After this experience, I will never use Public Storage again. Instead, I’ll find a local, independently owned storage facility where I can trust that I’ll be treated fairly.

Piracy practices on monthly rental rates. Wheaton Illinois, Brugge Street Our rate went up by 50% per month over a short period of time. When I spoke with the representative and asked why the rate would increase so much I was told that due to high occupancy rates were increased to reflect current market rates. That would imply that rates will decrease when occupancy decreases. I’m checking on it with them, but my hunch is they will not decrease the rates. Pretty slimy business practices.

Worst company, awful California based company. Zero customer service, but love raising the rates till you’ve had enough. Stay away, far away. Not to mention the rats that are overrunning the place.

Rented unit to small, ignorant employee didn't know how to use same account to up grade to a bigger unit, created another account. I was attempting to make triple check that I wouldn't be charged, she assured me as long as things were out on the first,I'd be okay Storage was empty and clean on the 31st and those dirty rotten scoundrels charged my card and it is taking an act of congress to get my money back. Big bank companies suck! I will use mom and pop Storage if I ever need another one.

Public storage should tell people that 6 months after you rent a storage unit , they raise the rent almost 50% higher..My storage was $62.00 ,I went to pay the next month and it said $117.00 . I contacted them and they said that the rent went up . That is almost double the normal rent..SO BEWARE THEY DONT ADVERTISE THAT THE RENT WILL ALMOST DOUBLE AFTER ABOUT 6 MONTHS.

I am extremely disappointed in the customer service provided by the regional manager, Lisa. She lacked empathy and continuously spoke over me when I tried to discuss my concerns about a rate increase. On top of that, the information she provided was inconsistent with what I was told previously. I recently received a rate increase of 47%, which is outrageous. After reading numerous negative reviews, I now realize that I am not alone in this experience. It feels like Public Storage is taking advantage of its customers by implementing drastic rate increases that push people out. I understand that businesses need to adjust rates to account for costs, but a 47% increase is unreasonable by any standard—unless, of course, you are Public Storage. I would not recommend this storage facility to anyone who values their money. I strongly believe that states should establish rental increase caps for storage facilities, similar to those in the rental housing market. It’s unfair that Public Storage can implement such steep increases with only 15-30 days' notice. With the rising cost of living, they should strive to be fair and consistent. For reference, the average cost of a 10x20 storage unit in Lynnwood, WA is approximately $273 per month, based on current market data. Public Storage’s pricing and policies are well above this and feel exploitative. Avoid this company if you can.
