“They charge sellers fees on top of fees, they payout incredibly slowly, and they do not adhere to their own timelines and commitments. I've sold over 20 items on Reverb and have regretted it each and every time I've done it (slow learner, I know).
Not to mention their huge fees ensure that no buyer can get a good deal whilst the seller also feels like they didn't get fair market value. Everyone loses expert reverb who take a huge commission for... I'm not sure why they think they deserve such a huge commission to be honest. At least brick and mortar stores have some sort of overhead to justify their fees. I find it hard to believe that the website costs that much to maintain.
Anyways, I've done my last transaction through them. Hopefully this review can help others learn from my mistakes.”
“I bought a brand new guitar that had numerous flaws when received from reverb...what a mistake! Do your research then check the BBB site! I gave up after 2 weeks of asking for a refund. They'll wear you down asking you to fill out forms, contact the seller, sending pictures, etc. It was my first and last purchase.”
“Seller Beware!
What a rip off!
Sold an item, shipped item, buyer received item. Buyer text me saying he loves the item, gave me a great review. I've given Reverb my credit card number and my bank account number and password to get paid but still haven't been paid. I shipped item four weeks ago. Can't call. I emailed, they emailed back but still no money in my account.
Never again will I use Reverb.”
“I've been scammed a $1000.00 - however if you want to scam a seller - claim a refund during shipping. The product will arrive and then you can counter the refund for a significant amount less than the original. If the seller refuses - keep the product or ship it back in an empty package. Scam away!”
“Never get involved with REVERB. TRIED BUYING A GUITAR OVER A WEEK. WAS APPROVED FOR FULL AMOUNT BY AFFIRM. TRIED MAKING PURCHASE 3 TIMES. Each time the sale said it was successful and each time the web page kicked me back to the purchase page so I had to repeat the process. Contacted REVERB. They said try a different internet connection, so I tried the purchase at my work place. SAME STORY.
They offered no assistance other than to try fixes that were up to me rather than admit their website sucks. It was everybody's fault but theirs.
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SAERVICE.”
“Went on there the first time to buy some ear pads, and couldn't sign up as I got flagged for some security reason. Well I went through verification and still stuck. Contacted them and no response. Never even been on their site before, and automatically banned, even with different email address. It's one thing that they auto-ban new customers for no reason, but they don't respond to any requests for help why it happened.
I've given up and now I wouldn't buy anything there if you paid me with the fact they have no customer support, and even if you've never been there you can get banned/suspended even before you sign up.”
“Never again. If it sounds too good to be true, it is. Impossible to reach the seller, designed to confuse and delay. Luckily put on my Amex so I could stop payment. Tell all your friends, do not go here!”
“The company is absolute trash... I tried 2 times to buy something and both times they canceled my order and put my profile under review..Without any reason..After this they asked for my ID and bank account, for "security reasons", but this is absolutely illegal, because they are just a trade site, not government or bank...So, for me this is a gang of crooks, who collect personal information behind online trade.”
“Item I bid on was paid for & never shipped. Reverb refunded & cancelled with no explanation. Seller was obviously fraudulent about listing, as it was a heavy item & i prepaid shipping. My guess is seller saw how much it was to ship & backed out of sale. Their guidelines & terms of use mean nothing if they hold the buyer to a much higher standard than the seller. AVOID AT ALL COSTS, UNLESS YOU LIKE DISHONEST COMPANIES!!!!”
“The worst customer service ever. Avoid like the plague. I was checking on my order since it had been more than 5-8 business days and they just canceled my order with no explanation.”
“Reverb told me I had a credit that I could use on whatever, when I went to use it i was told that it had to be used on only certain items...switch and bait and unethical. They will be lit up on social media (ripoffreport.com, facebook, instagram, etc.). Hard working American's being ripped off my these guys, come on man!”
“DO NOT SELL THROUGH REVERB!!!!!! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND GOOD LUCK GETTING YOUR MONEY. I gave them a star because Negative stars aren't an option. I wondered why a lot of the gear seemed overpriced but after selling a horn I now know that it's because reverb holds your money for a very long time. When I contacted them the guy I spoke with was not friendly and told me that I might get my money in another 48 hours. They have had the payment over a week and the buyer has had the instrument for 5 days. They just figured out how to get the selling fees and what would be the PayPal fees and then hold onto the money for a while. Go back to ebay where you get your money before some guy across the country has an opportunity to sell your merchandise before you even get your payment.”
“Been a member for eight years and I actually never had a bad experience with either a seller or a buyer. My gripe is with the company Reverb (ETSY) itself and the changes to how sellers are paid. I find it unprofessional and ridiculous that a buyer pays immediately and it takes almost a week for a seller to receive their funds. Please bring back PayPal! Plus the sellers fees have almost doubled since new ownership took over. The (new) Reverb is a totally different company, very unprofessional, absolutely useless customer service, and very slow to pay you your money. It’s too bad the new owners didn’t take advantage of improving the platform. Instead they ruined something that was already good enough.”
“Live on Long Island- Bought cymbals beginning of July 2021 - tried them out - wanted to return them.
First Seller states, I might not be the Seller (yet I have the Receipt, in the box, with name & receipt. 1st customer svce rep (rating 1) offered Me $25 fir inconvenience. 2d Rep smarter Re helping me (but offered inly $50); Called My credit card company, put it in dispute - July 20, Reverb, all of a Sudden, refunded Me. Next - returned cymbals via priority; got a message from reverb - saying - Seller said to keep cymbals (these were about $600)- I responded to rep - I keep My word & just jarmically - glad they were out of My house - also- if this was Ebay or Amazon, this Seller would be removed & be banned from Selling forca ling time. My prediction, was if I hadn’t returned them, Seller would then wNt them back: Best comment from Seller, ‘I’m not a store & cannot afford to take them back’; Reverb stated, We are allowing Seller, to stay on Reverb. This is business- musicians want to try out & return. What is this dysfunction??! BBB has about 150 complaints about Reverb & Seller Ratings also & a few others - poor poor customer service. Whoever is in charge, if this was elementary school & I was the teacher/principal (like they’re 19-15yrsvv CB old- I want to call their parents - sad but true. Bottom line: it’s a dysfunctional Sellers World there!! 3athings I came away with are: be careful when buying; contact Your credit card company-Re refunds & for those in NY - there’s a law that states- Yiu can return anything - YES anythw/in 30 DAYS- again - Your credit card company will definitely be Your best friend, in a ‘Reverb’ return situation”
“No words in our vocabulary low enough, to describe how pathetic Reverb is........never again....! The default one star rating, is way to good.....useless”
“If you want to sell something on the reverb website and you make an honest mistake on your listing, it gets suspended.
The website has no mechanism for removing it, so you are stuck until someone at the company decides to help you.
The process isn't complicated, you simply make the correction on the offending listing, notify them, then wait, wait, wait........silence.........
In the mean time, your listings with the mistakes remain in your account with no way to get rid of them and potential buyers look elsewhere.
The site is great otherwise.”
