- 5 Stars for Unethical Behaviour, Moved away from these guys 2 years ago because their systems are useless and they're v. expensive. We found ourselves at their mercy again, through no fault of our own, following Tonik energy going out of business. We were automatically transferred to their most expensive tariff following a bulk migration of customers. They will not honour the previous tariff agreement we had with Tonik, will not backdate for the last 3 months and are charging us 163% more per month. Will be switching as soon as possible. Never thought I'd be back using them after we left the first bloody time! P.S. Don't bother calling, better to do online messaging, will save you so much faffing around.

Disastrous customer service being on hold for hours at a time. Not only this, the billing structure is disjointed from reality and can't follow thier own maths! This company has some serious operations management issues and really need to analyse how thier resources are being used if they can't answer phones on time or bill correctly. Avoid at all costs!

Dreadful company. Moved house in 2018. SP already supplied to the house so thought I’d stay. Massive mistake! I set up direct debits with them and every month no money is taken from my account. I’ve had to call every single month for nearly three years to tell them the direct debits aren’t in place properly and I’m sick of explaining and wasting my time phoning them. They say I’m in debt by £800. I was only ever in credit with my previous supplier. I can’t afford to pay this outrageous sum outright so am stuck with SP. Totally fed up, they should not be allowed to trade.

I moved to Scottish Power from Octopus with the lure of a lower ( Slightly )energy bill, what a mistake. Poor service and when you do get through it is as if the person who you are speaking with is from a different firm. Less than a month later I am going back to Octopus and even though I am required to pay Scottish Power an exit charge I feel it is worth it, both for my time and sanity.

Telephone Enquiries to Scottish Power can take Hours to get through!, and when you do, dont expect your records on file to be correct! and best of all if you have a Prepayment Meter and anything goes wrong with it, whereby it has to be changed, "BEWARE": As if you have Credit on the Meter, dont believe Scottish Power when they tell you the Credit will be transferred. Because if you have not kept EVERY RECEIPT FROM THE SHOP OUTLETS THAT SELL ELECTRICITY, YOU CAN NOT PROVE THAT YOU HAVE PUT CREDIT ON YOUR KEY METER, Even though the Meter Registers the Amount of Money. How do I know this? because my friend and myself are both Pensioners, Aged 72 and 68 and we both fought very hard for our Credit money to be returned respectively, £190 and £164, but to no avail. We both gave up, as we were so mentally tired and distraught. You would ask yourself how could this happen in 2020, this day and age, or they're old people and its a mistake. Well, Pensioners don't make mistakes when it comes to paying bills and trying desperately to keep warm in wintertime. Please take heed and try another electricity company.

Avoid: Moved to SP as Tonik Energy stopped trading on 9 Oct 2020. Its now 20 January 2021 and still no statement/payment from SP. Energy costs in this case are not disclosed on the SP website - no wonder as they are high. Now moved on to another supplier but this took month longer than necessary.

I was happy with my standard meter but they kept chasing me to switch to smart meter. And now I am having issues even to read manually since the screen for gas meter is off and even pressing buttons do not show any readings. On top of customer service is rude and do not understand why I am frustrated. The company just keep charging using estimate reading and raising the direct debit. So easy to put everything on COVID lockdown ... pathetic. I run my own business and still offering full service to customers.

Incorrect billing. I didn’t choose them I was moved to them by the regulator as my suppliers LOGIK ceased trading. I wasn’t happy due to previous experience, YES they are still Terrible.

I have been trying to contact Scottish Power by phone for 7 days now. The answerphone says there is a long delay so suggests registering for a call back which I have done 4 times now. The first 3 times the callback rings 3 times only so if you don't reach your phone in time it cuts off and you lose the place. The 4th time I did answer in time but then had a lot of misjointed messages from recorded voices and then silence for 4 minutes even though the call was still connected, there was nobody there calling me back. Utterly pathetic and hopeless. My complaint is that since having a "Smart meter" fitted in early 2020 my electricity consumption (KWH) has increased by more than 10 times the 2019 kwh total. Total ripoff.

Would no recommend this company to anyone they expect a dead person to pay a bill for a meter that he didn't have would not even recommend this company to any trolls or goblins which am sure runs this company

One of the worst companies around CallCenter in Cape Town which says there is no complaints handler to speak to Their complaints procedure is 123 Is a waste of time company director doesn’t ring you back is a waste of time company director doesn’t ring you back 👎👎👎🤷🏻‍♂️

This is the worst company I have EVER had to deal with. few years ago I was awarded a decent sum via the ombudsman subsequent on a nightmare with Scottish Power. I thought I had finished with them until I tried to contact them after the death of my aunt who was a customer. I will not describe my ordeal in detail(take too long) but They NEVER answer the phone and every other type of contact has been rendered extremely, extremely, difficult and, in my case, ultimately useless.

If I could review 0 I would!! I joined Scottish Power in August after stupidly falling for the chat from the customer service advisor who caught me outside the supermarket. I have submitted meter readings 5 times on the app, I have tried by phone but nobody ever answers! Today I received a bill for £278 I managed to have a conservation on the web chat where i again gave readings and now they are saying I am in debt of £537 even though I have payed what they have billed me every month. I am 5 months pregnant with my second child, I have a 2 yea old and my partner has just been made redundant due to the pandemic. I have offered to pay £15 per month off the debt and they are trying to demand I pay £35.

I am still holding on to speak to one of their staff - its only been one and a half hours. Don't touch this company. They are a nightmare. Useless staff and never answer their phone.

Shocking customer service. Book appointment to get smart meter fitted and they didn't show up. Took 4 calls and 4 different people to finally tell me they didn't come because a smart meter was previously fitted, previous tenant. Apparently they've done nothing wrong by A) not telling me appointment was cancelled and B) taking so many calls to sort out why

Scottish Power a company to avoid at all cost. No heart, no care or compassion. Brief details… I own a lot of rental properties, for 3 weeks (March 2020) during the transition between tenants, I was responsible for the energy use, even though none was used as the property was empty. New tenant should of past on any correspondence (they have been warned because they didn’t), difficult time due to national lockdown. Scottish Power made no attempt to tell me there was a small amount outstanding, apart from apparently sending letter to the property address. Once Scottish Power obtained my home address, no correspondence was sent to me, they immediately put an unsettled debt on my credit history meaning I have now been turned down for a mortgage. This shows Scottish Power has no concern in what their actions cause. If they had sent a letter, they would have been paid immediately, I would not have the serious downgrade on my credit history, first ever. I might not have posted this, but when I found out a similar thing happened to a family member, who then received a £50.00 cheque in way of saying sorry from Scottish Power. So, my review of Scottish Power, is to avoid just in case there’s an issue, they will just take the most damaging action against you. I have just seen the 96% of very bad reviews on Trustpilot, not surprised.

Scottish power is the worst company ever! I gave the one star only because zero star is not an option. They are incompetent and not efficient. Three times they were supposed to come and sort my meter within almost a year that I had been complaining about my meter and engineer didn’t show up. I have to keep calling to report the issue of my meter deducting money from my top ups. I was told the credit and debit team will have a look at it and call me back on a day, nobody called. I called back and was told by the customer service representative I spoke to that the other person had given me incorrect information and this new person guaranteed that I will receive a call in a couple of days still nobody called and the meter keeps deducting money from my top ups. When I called back I was told by this new person I spoke to that I have to wait another 5 working days for the call as her previous colleagues had not completed the investigation properly. This is the worst energy company ever. Nobody should ever have to be pushed about so much the way they have been pushing me around for almost a year!

Moved from Yorks energy by ofgem Completed their forms 8th Dec... Still don't know our tariff..called to day to be told our tariff is ENERGY EXCLUSIVE.......BUT GET THIS they can't tell me the unit or daily charge or how long it lasts !!!!!!!!!! However did manage to get an account number from them Guess we'll exscape ASAP as this is "LESS THAN GOOD"
