My mother bought an armchair from them with a warranty for £50. Soon after she had to go into a care home and took her chair with her. She was in the care home for 20 months and died aged 97. On clearing her room we found there were some stains on the chair from where she had spilled food on it. It looked like someone had tried to clean it, but not very well. On trying to claim on the warranty, I told them my mother had died. Not one word of sympathy, just a lot of talk about Data Protection. I was then told they would have to send a letter to my mum at the address where she was living when she bought the chair and I would have to go there end pick it up! I was also told to send them her death certificate and Power of Attorney (which lapses on death anyway). I sent a letter to the complaints department. A few days later they asked for the Death Certificate. I said I had sent it to the claims department. They said they had not received it. When I sent them proof of delivery and the time it was delivered and who signed for it, it miraculously appeared. The same thing happened when I sent the next letter. I had to fill in a form saying what had been spilt, when, what had been used to clean it and a myriad of other questions I could not answer.. They also wanted me to send photos. I have no idea how to do that over the computer, even if I had a phone which takes photos, which I don't. I said I would have to get a film for my camera and then have it developed; they eventually said not to bother. Eventually they said someone would come and inspect it! He came and looked at it and said someone would come to clean it, but if it could not be cleaned the arm and seat would be recovered. I then heard from them that the warranty did not cover it as the attempt to clean it had probably bleached it! They offered £126 pounds which they said was the cost of the clean. I asked for the name of the company they use for cleaning and got them out. The man that came told me a lot about how SCF used to employ proper tradesmen to do the cleaning, but now use people who have just had a few week's training. The whole company seems to be useless. They offer a warranty that they wriggle out of when you try to claim. I have not yet read one review where they delivered what they promised. AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE. A final point: I got a lovely man came to clean the chair and he did a very good job of it!

My father was sold a sofa with "everything is covered" insurance for £200. He was told, without insurance your finance won't go through. My dad is a pensioner with very poor English. When it came to claiming, the policy would not cover. They lied and mis-sold to my dad. Ow all going through solicitors. They are doing a fantastic job with it....let's get a class action SCS for fraud and misrepresentation. I am dealing with Taylor Price Solicitors, amazing law firm and constantly keeping is posted. You can get them in 01616749800

The worst customer service I've ever experienced in my life. Bought 2 sofas explaining explicitly that they had to arrive within 3 months as I have my elderly in-laws coming to stay. One of them is over 80 years old and needs proper seating due to his ill health. The salesman assured me they would be there in time... although the contract stated 9-10 weeks he told me that the most likely outcome would be 6-8 weeks and that I shouldn't worry. We are now in week 13 and my elderly in-laws have to sit on my office chair... the rest of us are on cushions on the floor. While I appreciate that mistakes can be made - I tried to sympathise and suggested a refund on the order to get another sofa in time for my in-laws arrival... they flat out rejected and dismissed my concerns. Head office won't help (and won't return my calls), the store are dismissive and the overall lack of contact on their end has really soured what was meant to be me and my partner's first furniture shopping experience. All I want are my sofas or my money back so an 80 year old man doesn't have to sit in an office chair while the rest of us sit around him on the floor... will never use SCS again. They haven't even apologised for the delay :(

Visited Nottingham ScS Retail Park opposite Ikea talk about desperado - Harrassment at its fullest!!! We went in told the sales advisor we were just here to browse have a look around as we had bought a house with a August date, what did we get that's not a problem should you need any assistance please come and get us! Turned around & in comes the Sales with a coffee shoved our noses, I declined then we are asked what are we looking for leather or fabric? Fabric oh there loads upstairs so up we go & low & behold we are told it's the best time to buy a sofa 50% discount and guess what the sofas we were browsing were there best sellers and that everyone was buying them... Well I don't want to be like everyone else out of the selected range we saw one 4 seater with a 2 seater snuggle chair and foot stool Oh guess what we can buy the one on the shop floor for £2000 we explained we didn't want a shop floor one we wanted new oh that's £2500 I'll speak with my Area Manager we can do it for £2000 however he's leaving in 5 minutes & only he will do the deal if you agree now??? WTF! I wanted this idiot to do one, my wife said we won't be pressured into buying a sofa.... on the way out some other clown stating it's a fair deal maybe so but with crappie sales staff not from me! Went to Sofology bought a better nicer sofa set for £2835 very happy with shop all polite friendly staff and range of sofas so ScS take note you push too hard you get nothing......

Possibly the biggest crooks on the market might as well be wearing a baraclaver when they take your money. Ordered a settee (lazyboy) on the bank holiday sale at birstall retail park a corner settee 1 of the first things we asked after deciding on the settee we wanted was about delivery because we live in a town house and the living room is on the middle floor and we got told by the sales person that there would be no problem and it splits into sections and they deliver these sofas all the time and to stop worrying. So today was delivery day of are settee. The corner part of the settee would not go upstairs after phoning the shop and speaking to an imbecile called Simon we got told and these was is very words after we said that the sofa wouldn't fit and your colleague said there wouldn't be a problem " I doubt she would have said that and we say anything so you sign on the dotted line and you should have checked your terms and conditions anybody that doesn't it's there own fault for being so naive" we got told we can choose another sofa that fits and we lose 30% of the total cost of the sofa which is around £800 or we pay and upholsterer £200 to take apart the middle part of the settee and put it back together at the top. After speaking to customer services and waiting for phone calls back all day they are about as much use as a chocolate fireguard.

Lack of communication, as waited for a month for them to fit our carpet on our stairs and Landing they lost our paperwork as no one came to to do the carpet, went to the store to get our money back to be told that the person who can do that is lunch, when she's back she will refund us and call to confirm but 2 hours went by and no call so we went back to the store only to find out that she didn't know anything about a refund, eventually we got our money back but will never step foot in a Scs store again.

Sofa delivered with wrong feet waited weeks for the correct ones to arrive. When they did eventually deliver correct feel they were minus the fittings to attach them. Whats worse is underneath of the sofa is frayed and falling apart. The customer service is appalling nobody answers the phone, head office useless. I will be going through my credit card provider to get my money back. Dont buy anything from them is my advice.

SCS are selling La-Z-Boy recliner sofas that are defective. When reclining, the side of the sofa lowers and grinds into the floor which WILL wear a hole in your carpet or, if you don't have a carpet, wear out the bottom of the sofa. SCS are aware of this fault, it was confirmed by their engineer who inspected my sofa (he declared it "a design fault") and I visited the Nottingham showroom and showed the salesman the problem which exists with all UK made models, but these sofas are still on sale. Requested that the manager of the Nottingham branch call me. That was over a week ago and I have heard nothing.

Bought an Endurance model leather suite from Scs less than 3 years ago and was advised to buy the 5 year warranty to cover every e ventuallity .when the leather started to peel the insurance company Castelan said it could not be repaired and said it was wear and tear and rejected the claim.I challenged the rejection and they had a change of heart and offered me less than half of the purchase price.Scs sold me a poor quality suite and a worthless warranty. There is no way I can replace the suite with the compensation I have been offered. BUYERS BEWARE

Bought top of range Lazy boy suite to discover had manufacturing defect. Had to pay £60 charge to have SCS send someone out to tell us this. SEVEN months later and the suite remains damaged. SCS sent out man to fix both chairs after waiting 4 months for parts..., only to discover wrong parts sent. Despite repair guy telling SCS COLOUR WONT MATCH. Shocking customer service

Would give zero if could! Its not the store its the AFTERCARE team! We bought our 1st ever brand new sofa in September for £2500 its a special chiropractic one by Dec it was twice broken the seats are all faulty and when u sit on one the other is like an armrest! It's bn going on since Dec they've sent technician out 3 times but he takes photos underneath! He Really scared me last time cos he was on phone to manager while here and i asked him to admit he'd Sat on it and how bad it was - his eyes were flashing angry he was Literally Yelling at me! They've cut 1" seat pads in half - stuffed them in Half of each cushion and said That's for goodwill! It's awful. We've gotta go through Solicitors now with our home insurance.

Was very good but then ...... Very good, really pleased. Happy customer is what I would have said up until today. I got a phone call "we have given you the wrong sofa" a week later after it was delivered so it's now second hand. I have two young children and three cats who is going to want this sofa now? If I wasn't stressed enough after just moving house I have just had to have open knee surgery to remove a tumour from my knee all in a week and now this. Thank you so much SCS just what I needed. I was then told they had to deliver me my sofa, now because I have only just come out of hospital I have appointments so when I said I had a time slot on the day they wanted to swap over the sofas they started to moan that it was slightly inconvenient. Oh I'm so sorry. Delivery was late I missed a hospital appointment, because when they did deliver my sofa it was in such bad condition even the driver refused to leave it. Now today nearly two weeks after first delivery I have another phone call. I explain the sofa they tried to give me to replace the one they first delivered was in such bad condition it looked like it had just come out of a skip. I was then asked to send an email of the pictures and she would get straight back to me which I did. Did she get back to me did she heck. I'm so stressed out oh and not one apology. SCS have made my life hell avoid like the plague.
