“For the most part the Africa Safari trip was great, it was just a little disorganizationwhen we arrive at one of the lodges and at the hotel where we were assigned a day room on our last day before going to the airport for our trip back home. The accommodations were good but when we arrived there was some confusion with collecting and returning our passports. Otherwise, I really enjoyed the African experience very much.”

“The tour was too strenuous for me and I think that there should have been a warning of some kind for seniors. I also felt that it tried to fit too much in and that there was way too much time on the bus. Our tour guide rambled on and on and people tuned out and consequently missed out on the kernel of information we needed. I was disappointed that there were so few dinners included and also that the farewell was not very good even though the restaurant was charming. We didn't get much guidance on where to eat on our own either. Usually I'm very easy to please but I could go on for quite a bit about the things that I had a problem with on this tour. I had gone to South Africa with you n a few ears ago and loved it but this one makes me seriously question whether I'll use your company in the future. I really thought that our guide left a lot to be desired.”

“We took two Smartours to Italy and then on to Spain while we were in Europe thus saving transpotation costs and flight time to and from the US. Both trips were excellent with knowledgable tour guides and well planned tourists stops. Hotels were 4 or 5 star with tasty full breakfast menus. One of my favorite photos was from Barcelona where we visited the cathedral designed by Gaudi. He designed the stain glass windows to reflex streams of light throughout the church!”

“we enjoyed the trip, however, there were so many things to see in one day that we got exhausted at the end of the day. Please keep in mind that the most of the tourists are senior citizens, and some with some kind of disabilities.”

“1) "Tour of City" by tour bus is nothing but a quick ride through the city! By the time the guide points out a landmark, we can be well past it. 2) Some hotels are below standard and far from areas of interest. This limits visits to points of attraction. 3) Local tour guides vary: some are hard to understand, some bore you with details, some are excellent. 4) When "a day on your own" is offered, a list of possible places of interest to visit should be provided. Not just "shopping." 5) The tour guides often "recommend" places for eating. Not always the best. 6) There should be more flexibility in flights to destinations. I know booking in groups provides greater prices, but it often adds to the traveler's total price of the trip when the flights only fly out of NYC. If connecting flights are askew, it may involve a night's stay in a hotel. The above list is just for ways to improve SmarTours, in my estimation. Generally, I always consider SmarTours before any others.”

“We have been on many tours with Smartours, but the Rhine River cruise was simply unacceptable for us. The river boat was so short-handed, that meals often last two to three hours. The breakfast buffet was in such a tiny area that it was often impossible to work our way through the crowd to get an adequate breakfast. All the tours were walking tours, which would not have been so bad, but long distances were covered without potty breaks. It is such a shame, because the cities that we visited were very nice, but we couldn't enjoy them much will all the problems we had.”

“The tour guide was not acceptable. He was about 40 minutes meeting us at the airport in Porto. On one optional tour, he left a patron behind (we had left our meeting point 5 minutes early. Eventually, we had to turn around and get her). Also, he never apologized to her. He continually talked about himself, his sister, and family. Seemed like he had diarrhea of the mouth. Of all the Smartours trips we have been on, he was the worst.”

“We were all very happy, great tour; led by the best driver, story teller, funny, knowledgeable , tour guide ever, Peter Murphy. Loved The Republic of Ireland and the northern coastline of Northern Ireland.”

“Wonderful trip. Great guides. Beautiful palaces and churches. Loved the countryside of Norway. Stockholm and Copenhagen were terrific cities.”

“My husband and I LOVED our trip to Morocco. This was my fourth Smartour and like all the others, our guide made the difference. The accommodations were terrific without exception. You may find tours that our cheaper but you will never find a tour with better value. We are already booked again to Thailand and Cambodia.”

“Our tour was fantastic with only 15 in the group. Paul was the best and his compassion for his country was evident. We enjoyed all his stories and history. I can attest that Guinness beer and Dingle Gin are my new favorites.....thanks for the tip Paul”

“We thoroughly enjoyed our Magical Ireland tour with Smartours. The itinerary caovered more than we would have done on our own, and we learned so much along the way. We were happy to leave the driving to our expert and very humorous driver, Paul Kealy, giving us the chance to enjoy the beautiful countryside and many rainbows we saw along the way. All hotels and meals were to our liking, and all our stops offered a chance to learn more about Ireland. We will definitely consider Smartours for a future vacation. We usually travel on our own or cruise and weren’t sure we’d like the bus ride, but everything worked out well!”

“Best of the Orient exceeded my expectations. Each country’s Tour Director was friendly, accommodating, and had a great sense of humor. That said, Ketsara Chocksmai and Nok Teawattana are by far the best! Both share their passion and love for their country, treat their tourists like family, and spend their free time exploring more sites with their tourists. I’ve been blessed to have Ketsara twice in the past two years and she never disappoints! The optional tours were money well spent!”

“I've previously taken 32 independent, self-arranged, unguided trips to Europe, so the Waterways of the Czars trip was a wholly new experience. It turned out much better than I anticipated. The one real disappointment (missing the wooden churches of Kizhi Island) was caused by dense fog on the waterways, which was obviously beyond the tour operator's control. The group leader came up with a good "Plan B" (visiting a decommissioned sub and the war memorials at Vytegra), so that saved the day.”
