The tour guide was excellent. The hotels were nice. The return travel arrangements were terrible. We wasted a whole day just sitting in airports. Totally unacceptable. The golden triangle tours could have been omitted it wasn’t much of a tour.

The places were wonderful, people great. Did not really like our guide RON. He was very knowledgeable but ran on his schedule. We were on vacation and when we wanted to take more pictures..not permitted. No water on the bus, refrig was locked. Went ahead of the group and 6 lost him. It is his job but it was my vacation. Victoria Falls Guild cared. Took his time and not question was treated as it came from a 3rd grader and could be repeated.

It was very rushed, we had 9 days, really only 7 cause of flights and 2 of those 7 were wasted on driving. Maybe less time spent at the airport would help. We had a 3+ hours of time to kill between arriving in Jburg and transferring to Cape Town, it would have been nice to arrive in Cape Town sooner.

Overall, the trip was great & affordable. However, a few recommendations to consider. — group check-in is a time suck, book people on their own itineraries, especially when flying so much in a 3-week window. — a local guide is imperative (living in Perth, a city we don’t even travel to, doesn’t not a guide make). This should be a given. — itinerary should be shifted to focus on key areas - as an example, spending more time in Dunedin, New Zealand, than in Sydney, Australia, is absurd. — accommodations could stand to be reviewed / assessed - some of the hotels were a outdated and unclean.

I had a lovely trip to the Galapagos! However, I think it is unfortunate that one can't get a seat until the day of the flight at the airport. It was also hard to schedule my flight home because we did not know until very close to the trip what our return time would be to Miami.

I have taken at least 21 SmarTours trips in the past 20 years and have enjoyed every one of them. No tour company is perfect and SmarTours is no exception. They usually provide lovely accommodations and better than average tour guides. As a repeat customer I usually know what to expect. With that said, there is room for improvement. Flight times and layovers need to be listed. Ungodly flight times need to be posted and any changes in itinerary need to be expressed during the trip. Seats on the airlines should be assigned when invoice is paid in full. More free time in third world countries would be appreciated. All in all, this is a reliable and very good touring company!

Excellent organization of tours, travel, hotels, etc. Some days were a bit too full, and there were extremely early mornings (4:30 am). Flights home could have been better. Instead of taking 2 days to get from Galapagos to Miami, it could have been one day. Overall, very positive experience. Will likely book with Smartours again, but will request a more detailed itinerary before locking it in.

We loved that we got to see so much on our Egypt tour, but did not love wake up calls on 2 days at ungodly hours...just after midnight on one night and 3am on another. Our suggestion is to add 2 more days onto the trip (understandably the cost would be higher).

Excellent tour guide (Mohammed). Group (37) a bit on the large size but generally manageable. Good blend of activities. First experience with SmarTours. Overall positive. Disappointed about flight seat assignments. Thought we would be @ least seated together (even if in middle seats). With some difficulty, was able to call Emarites (in advance) to get joint seat assignments and provide TSA Pre-check and other related info.

The logistics of this tour made totally enjoying the trip difficult. We got in around 7pm one day, after an unnecessary stop at a rug maker, and had to get up at 12:30 am to leave for a trip--where we sat at the airport for at least an hour before the gate opened. Another day we had to rise at 3:00 am to leave for a tour. This already an action packed trip, but the sleep disturbances made us more tired. The accommodations and food were great. Loved the Nile cruising.

The tour guide was very knowledgeable and safety conscious. (Winds at 70 MPH). Got everybody up for the northern lights, and kept a nice time schedule. The part of Smart tours I didn't appreciate was the pre tour information about not knowing where we were going to stay until the last week and not being able to communicate with the tour guide before hand to let her know we were coming to the breakfast so she was informed. I do feel the New York office needs a bit more info and communication skills. Felt lost and dangling before trip.

Too much scrimping on details to be "very good." e.g. bag tags, no roster of travelers, some hotels mediocre - no Kleenex, toiletries or such amenities. Meals - buffets too much the same. Tour director excellent, most guides good to very good. Bus ok; not " very good." Driver excellent.

The tour guide Gulla and bus driver were wonderful and very caring. However I think we should have had name tags 🏷 to identify ourselves and we shouldn’t have had to drag our luggage 2 and half blocks to the hotel.
