“When a customer orders merchandise, they should receive frequent (weekly at least) of the status of their order. If the item is backordered from the manufacturer, an indication of when the item will be available should be provided. Letting your customer know that they will receive a weekly update (say on Fridays) until the item ships would help to relieve unneeded concern especially when the item ordered is part of a larger project.”
