Absolutely appalling company and customer service. Would not recommend to anyone. I have been on a pre paid meter, so am fully aware of the amounts I am being ripped off each time I top up. I am now renting my place out and cancelled with them, in which they told me that I was in credit and could clearly see I was in credit from my smart meter. However I have since received a bill for over £300 stating that I now owe them this amount. I disputed this, however due to the language barrier with the customer service team, I made no progress on the matter and was in fact hung up on multiple times. I am going to invest in a hamster on a wheel to produce my own electricity as I will try anything to avoid staying with this joke shop company lol. Avoid using this company if you can all!!

They changed my gas meter almost 6 months ago and I been calling 100s of time to get it back to a pay as you go meter and I been promised call back and try to get this sorted so I don't get left with a huge bill but so far for the last 6 month I have go no where

The company is a joke 8 months of trying to get a pay as go meter been told it booked never heard back on phone transferd over and over then hung up on customer service in South Africa India thay just can't get anything right never every had such a bad experience on phone right now and guess what been transferd 4 times one and half hours on phone and on hold please please don't use this company

This is an awful company, I moved into a house in December and had so many issues with the account. Since December I have tried to change from pay as you go account to a direct debit. But this has still not happened. After hours and hours of calls still not resolved. To date still had no bill after months of requesting this! Absolutely ridiculous. Many times I’ve been advised the account is pending , then told they will callback. No call backs.

sse have left me a single parent of two young children without hot water or heating for 4 months now. sent me out a ridiculous bill of nearly £3000 for gas alone, then admitted they had charged for gas i haven’t used. months and months of calling weekly it not daily. even my solicitor could not get through to them. appalling customer service constantly transferred from department to department and then hung up on!! also charged me for 3 months of broadband i hadn’t used. the worst company i have ever dealt with.

Unbelievably bad service 7 days being passed around from dept to dept promises of sorting out the problem to be told by next person that there is no notes to say it had been dealt with without electric many times over past few days

In the technical service department, no one knows anything. Since my meter will change on March 17, they said, do not load pra to the current meter, your electricity will not be cut off. Now there is no electricity at home. When I called for the problem, they directed me to a different line 3 times and asked all the security questions again. like a joke... all my food in the freezer went bad. The electricity meter they put is also bad, it doesn't even work properly. Might be the worst institution I've ever seen in my life

Been with SSE for over 40 years, Changed to new tariff v21 yesterday, today asked to set up a direct debit,I have never had a direct debit in all that years ,we always payed by they’re payment card at the local pay point and we are in credit by over 500 ,I asked if I could carry on paying the same way and was told no, But I can carry on paying like this on a standard tariff, Please can someone explain the logic in this …,so I will get my credit back of them one keep it in my bank and pay my bill as late as possible , I just wanted to secure our bills as my wife has Dementia, if something happens to me first the wife can’t do banking, this Company is not very thoughtful , understanding or caring of peoples problems

This is the worst company in the UK, if not the world. They charged me a fraudulent gas bill based on zero evidence of actual gas usage. I sent three emails querying this bill - nobody relied. Nobody answers the phones either. After their thugs started sending threatening emails about debt collectors and credit ratings I paid their fraudulent bill. This is literal daylight robbery. I have been mugged by this company. The only silver lining is that I will never have to pay a penny to SSE again. Avoid this criminal organisation at all costs.

Not even want to give 1 star. As everybody says customer centre passed 4 times to reached correct person. They sent me made up final bills meter reading just made up that's why no details. They charged 5 times I expected. Meter reading machine is smart meter that SSE can read anytime correct meter reading. Because final bill they just wanted more than usage. What kind of company just made up final bill as they like. They doesn't admit / amend. I had to contact Obudsman. Still no resolve. Worst company I ever experienced.

Really bad experience last week I wasted 4 dinnertimes at work getting put on hold , passed around , drop called and being told someone would ring me. I still keep getting texts telling me I must contact them so they can change my gas meter I give the hell up

worst company I have ever dealt with, clearly common practice to put you on hold for hours just to be told you've been put through to the wrong department over and over again, its took the over 6 months and my account has still not been closed after moving out. Also if you come to the end of your telephone package deal, they double the price without telling you but keep the direct debit the same then wait a year and tell you you owe them hundreds of pounds. SCAMMERS

This company makes me sick!!!! I don’t get how they have good reviews. Made several bloody complains regarding my issue with them and it seems that there is no communication in this company whatsoever… I asked to speak with managers and rude staff members are putting down the phone…. I have sent emails to try to solve my issue… wasted hours of my life and this company keeps on bothering me… I have moved in several months ago and signed up an account with SSE….clearly the biggest mistake I could ever do…. They installed my smart meters and since then they are threatening me to cancel my contract if I don’t install my smart meters….is this a bloody joke??? For months I am calling them to prove I have smart meters and for months nothings has been resolved…. And everyday someone is calling me to book smart meters installation…This is a joke…I HAVE SMART METERS FOR several months…. Don’t get involved with these people….I am seriously considering taking them to court for all the trouble…threats and disrespect received from their employees…. Trying to cancel my account with them and they are asking me to pay exist fees… for what?? Because you are not competent to see my smart meters?? This is ridiculous…I am so angry!!!!

Avoid! Awful customer care, poor communication. Harrasing customers with constant reminders. They have created a ghost electricity account for the same time and address we already have electricity account with them, and then tried to charge us for the ghost account months after we we switched!!! Total disgrace.

Avoid - they will provide you with wrong information then delete these calls when you request them. Cut you off half way through being put over to someone or tell you they're terminating your call because you're recording it for your own evidence. SHAMBLES !!!!!!!!!
