“I bought a dress online for an event and they did not disclose the brand. That was issue #1. I'm trying to return the dress and I'm told that: 1.) I have to email or call for a label. 2.) I will have to pay to make the return despite their, "free returns" plastered all over the checkout screen. 3.) They only give store credit which WAS NOT disclosed at checkout. I found the dress much cheaper at Macy's which made me feel ripped off as they're usually more expensive. I'm already very annoyed and will do what it takes to get my money back. Any store that only offers credit unless it's a no receipt or past return policy situation is shady. I have no stores near me and I do not regularly shop at Stein Mart so, the credit is of no use.”

“Wish I had read these reviews before I ordered 4 expensive items which I need to return. Store credit is not acceptable. Very disappointed and they should be held accountable!”

“I was a fervent Steinmart shopper and so sad they went online. The clothes online are nothing to what they used to be in the stores. The online women's clothes look cheap, faded and something I could find at a second-hand shop. So disappointed in Steinmart. My new go-to online store is Macy's, and they have a fantastic returns policy.”

“Read the fine print. Returns aren’t easy. You have to contact a rep through email or phone (impossible) and you do NOT get a refund on returned merchandise-only store credit. And do NOT destroy the ragged bag the product arrives in because you must return it in the original packaging, so they can determine if the item meets their “return criteria.” Absolutely nothing they offer is worth the hassle. So sorry; I wanted them to survive but this online platform is doubtful.”

“I bought a dress online that was horrible-it took mr forever to get a return label. I was lied to saying I would get my money refunded to my debit card--I did not-I received a store credit so I could purchase more junk and pay further shipping fees-I finally ordered an overpriced straw bag and still have $14.00 credit. Keep it steinmart-maybe that will help you re-open your stores. P.S. customer service was horrible--lies lies lies.”

“Prices are insane! Just change the name to Stupiditymart! Looking for pillows? Embroidered Bee pillow. Would have been $19-$24before. Get this.....$217.00!!!!!!!!!! Typpo? Guessing no. Other prices ubsurd! Save your time. It is NOT Steinmart you miss!”

“Do not order this is a 0 review but 0 was not an option. This is not Stein Mart! I ordered two outfits for my daughters wedding on Feb. I tried to return them. No one would answer the phone or my emails. Except for Replying they could not Provide an address of where to return the outfits. They stated I had to wait on a return label but I couldn’t get one because the system had a glitch! I had to File a dispute with my bank. Which was difficult because I still had the outfits. I called this company which isn’t Stein Mart several times a day. I made calls with my bank representative. I was told I would get a refund to my debit card. Then I finally received a store credit. My bank and I called several times a day again to be told “it has been refunded to your Stein Mart account”. I don’t have a Stein Mart account after all this is was refunded in gift card, per Stein Mart, “To my account”. Please keep your money and do not order from this company! Thai customer service needs a below 0 review.”

“They should get 0 stars - BUYER BEWARE - you cannot return items here. They only give you store credit AND you have to pay 6.99 return shipping. THIS IS NOT ON THEIR WEBSITE RETURN POLICY! It says easy returns - no problems. NOT THE STEIN MART I USED TO LOVE and will NEVER order from here again!”

“WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE...DO NOT BUY FROM STEINMART ONLINE. I bought 2 night stands and 1 was damaged in several places and they tried to repair it. For 3 weeks I have been trying to et this resolved. They said they sent me a shipping label, they did not. Then they told me store credit... No I will not buy from them again. Now to dispute this with my bank.”

“Loved their stuff until they went online & their prices are ridiculous now!!! Use to be a place for good deals but not any longer. Why? They have to be saving $ by not paying for a brick and morter rental space anymore.”

“DO NOT buy anything from Stein Mart online! I have had such a nightmare trying to get store credit for a dress I returned. I don't even have to time to explain it all. Just trust me, DO NOT buy anything from Stein Mart!!!”

“I loved Steinmart before they closed. Thought it would be the same service and experience. I have been trying to return something for 30 days. When I finally got the return label it was for the wrong thing I was returning. One of my orders came from China. Horrible customer service...Would not advise buying from them online.”

“Stein mart does not allow you to return bathing suits but they do not post that information on their return policy or website. I contacted them and they just didn’t seem to care. I checked many other stores on line policy with swimsuits and they do allow returns. This is definitely not the old Stein Mart. No longer a customer.”

“Received my order. The strap for the clutch would not open so could not attach it. Was able to talk to someone who told me to take a pictures and they would be in touch. Did not hear anything Called 2 times, later another person told me they would send a return label. No label so far. My last experience with SM. BUYER BEWARE.”

“Firstly, I ordered a sweater that appeared to be purple and white. When I got it it was grey and white-- DINGY grey and purple. I sought to Return it, as we do in America when we are unsatisfied. I was told I could get a "Store Credit". This is why they are going Bankrupt with most of their stores Closing. The store in my area has closed. Horrible Online Return Policies leave your company unable to compete with the best stores. Why would I shop with you???? I wouldn't.”
