My first and will be only experience with Stein Mart was an online order. I had gotten a gift card which in itself was delayed after being ordered, due to issues on Stein Mart's end according to the person who ordered it for me. It took almost two weeks to show up in my inbox. After putting several items in my cart and creating an account I went to pay. The total was $100 to be paid with gift card and around $0.08 to be paid with Paypal. Only when I hit the button to confirm order the screen repeatedly went back to the start of the process. Once it even doubled all the items in my cart. I contacted customer service, who took a few days to get back to me and didn't offer me help or a coupon for my trouble but said they had tried to replicate the issues themselves and it was probably my own fault for using the wrong internet browser and to try again on a different one. I was using Chrome. I was frustrated but unwilling to give up $100 since I was trying to buy holiday gifts. Two days later I tried again and this time it went through but they now refused to honor my welcome coupon and I had to pay around $7 through Paypal (almost 10 times the cost if the order had went through the first time). I got an email that my order was being shipped. The day AFTER my shipping notification I got another email saying that an item I'd ordered had been cancelled from my order. I couldn't understand how they had first shipped it and then cancelled it, but at this point I had no confidence contacting support would get me anywhere. When my order showed up there were several items missing, not just one, and I never heard a word about any of them. A few weeks later I got two separate gift cards in the mail, both for six dollars and a few cents, with no apology or explanation or anything. No refund to Paypay for tax or shipping on the cancelled items. Original gift card at a zero balance. I thought I might be able to get one more gift with the $12 they sent back but they wouldn't honor the free shipping that went with my original order and I'm not going to pay any more money to fool around with this company. In the fifteen years I've been doing the majority of my shopping online and I can honestly say that this was the worst experience I've ever had.

I am currently on the phone -- it's completely dead air, trying to get info on how to make a return of an online purchase. The so called free postage return label included in my order was not accepted at UPS, though that is where the instructions tell me to take it. It's not accepted at USPS or the office supply store. Zero response to email with questions. And again, on a dead line, holding. Really had liked the dresses i bought (tho they didn't fit right) but will DEFINITELY not be buying from here again when Amazon makes returns so easy.

Been a faithful customer in nashville and AZ for 25 years. Moved to Michigan and was told no coupons accepted. Not only that I felt as if the Rochester location was on same level as Salvation Army. Just poor layout, crappy merchandise, restroom dirty. Nothing good to say about the store any more. No longer faithful customer but the casher said oh this is the good of the company....yeah right.

The W. Bloomfield store (Detroit area) has a bad (missing, abusive) manager. Last time I shopped there (2 wks ago) he was yelling at both employees (they are lovely) and customers. I left and called corp. office. No return call. The store looks like Schlock Fifth Ave. Don't shop there unless you want to experience abuse!

Omg 20 days to receive a small order I can’t comprehend why!! Good luck getting prefers in time for Christmas better shop somewhere else if you need gift orders before a month

They put the wrong delivery address, UPS delivered to the wrong place, and they will not reissue the order or return payment until at least 30-35 days - poor online policy !

I ordered an item from Stein Mart online. One of my comfortable reasons to buy from Stein Mart was their "Money Back Guarantee" if not satisfied. I was offered 1)Return to a local Stein Mart store, or 2)Mail it back. I returned it to a local Stein Mart store. They only refunded 72% of the purchase price. DON'T BUY FROM STEIN MART or SteinMart.com unless you enjoy being lied to and cheated.

Stein Mart's clothes have really gone down in quality. They are nothing more than cheap junk. The items are hideous and poorly made and look like something the homeless wouldn't even want. When I was in the local Stein Mart, I was the only customer in the entire store! I can understand why. I won't bother to take the time to go there any more because I am not interested in purchasing crummy, dorky clothes.

The ladies at the check out counter were talking their personal lives so loud the rest of the store could hear. Talk about partying and have children and relationship etc. something you talk about in private.

Placed an order in August for an item. Not as the picture showed. Had to get a prepaid label from them. After several emails they finally sent one. Item was delivered two weeks ago. No refund in sight. Have a complaint in with Paypal yet still no refund. Do not order thru their website. This is my last time. Hope you enjoy ripping people off. For $25 you lost a lot of money from my future business.

When ordering online - the packaging was very damaged and one pair of boots were missing completely. Another pair was too small and the boot box as ripped. I sent them back. I only got $10.65 refund when I paid $44.95 (not including tax). ?? whatever their return policy is, it is NOT acceptable and their shipping department needs training on how the pack and prepare a shipment.

Clearance rack says 40percent off but if the price ends in a 2 it's not.How is the consumer suppose to know that? Also I got a blouse off the clearance rack clearly marked $4.74 and it came up $19.61. Three employees plus the manager gave me 3 different prices.Horrible customer service. I will never shop there again.

I made a purchase on line and it went through, then hours later after I thought I was done shopping for what i needed, I get an email that says my order was cancelled. But it was not cancelled, only some items were cancelled. So now I have pajama bottoms and no top, workout top and no bottoms. Please DO NOT say it available on line if it is not available. Now I will have to return everything and I am definitely soured on Steinmart. I will not waste my time shopping here ever again. This has never happened to me at Belk.

I have refused to step foot into Stein Mart ever since the one in Kingwood, TX treated my dear friend so ugly. (This was approximately eight years ago). She went in to look around and they were very snarky to her. Prior to that I have been in a Stein Mart with my sister and I fail to understand what it is that they have to be so uppity about.

Received an email today explaining how simple it was to place your order online and pick it up at your store. I gave it a try. After spending a significant amount of time searching the website I ordered a woman’s top. It was just what I needed for a special occasion. I requested an in store pickup at my local Stein Mart for the following day. I quickly received an email stating the order was being filled and I’d receive a confirmation email stating when it was ready. Within 2 hours I received an email stating my order had been cancelled. I guess I won’t try online ordering from Stein Mart again!!! There was absolutely no indication that the size or color was unavailable at my store. I don’t think the online ordering will work with their system of limited quantities. It will only frustrate customers and leave them with a bad memory of Stein Mart.

I order a product and they didn’t send any notifications and the product send back to store every time I called and ask about that order and I ask them to resend the order and they saying they will give refund only for product not for shipping really bad online service

I bought a purse for the second time, thinking that the same thing wouldn't happen again, but it did. The wash they use for the lining or whatever they do, smelled so bad that I tried to fix it to the point of cutting the lining out. Did not work.. still smelled. I ended up throwing it out without ever using it. Never again.

The manager Liz at the Tuscaloosa Alabama location was really prejudice, has a short fuss, really rude, and that makes the company loose money especially good money from a regular customer. I hate this is the result of this but I refused to be treated rude because of my color. Over all I love the store.

A posted 40% discount coupon (due to expire 9/19) was not honored on (9/6) after being told by sales < 24 hours earlier that it would be. Offered to send copy of posting via email. No further consideration by management. I'm done!
