Worst hotel I have stopped since we have been booking our holidays with Sunshine

We had to cancel our sunshine.co.uk holiday, a week before we were due to leave, due to the sudden and unexpected death of my brother. I can just about accept that, due to the fact that our cancellation was made at the last minute, sunshine.co.uk were unable to offer either a postponement or a refund (even partial). However, I can’t accept that it was acceptable to send us an email - a few days after we would have returned - saying "WOW. Look how tanned you are. Tell us more about your sun-soaked getaway..” and much more in a similar vein. This email was crass and insensitive in the extreme. I appreciate that this was probably a standard mail-out triggered a given number of days after the holiday was due to have finished. However, I had a number of telephone conversations and webchat exchanges with sunshine.co.uk staff over the two or three weeks prior to the email. It would have been a very simple matter for them to override the triggering of such an email – but clearly nobody could be bothered to do this. This also suggests that their internal processes are very poorly designed. I imagine most no-shows are a result of some unforeseen event. As such, why doesn’t any “no-show” automatically result in the cancellation of their “WOW” email – simply as a common decency? Whilst I wasn’t expecting to receive anything like their “WOW” email, I WAS expecting to receive a "no-show" letter to send to my travel insurance provider. This had been promised to me when I cancelled the holiday. However, to add insult to injury, when I asked for this to be sent to me sunshine.co.uk replied “I just need to check that you are aware of the £30 fee for the no show letter, and that it is ok for us to take it from the card held on file”! I certainly WON'T be taking sunshine.co.uk up on their request to recommend them to friends and family.

I've booked flights and hotel via sunshine and after making the payment in full, I have received a voucher stating that the hotel will not honour this rate for passport holders of certain countries such as Cyprus, Belgium, Russia, Lithuania etc (very long list). When I contacted the adviser I was told that this means that upon arrival the hotel would charge me a lot more because I am not UK passport holder. There was no disclaimer at the time of the booking stating that there are any nationality restrictions that might affect the price, so I wasn't able to make an informed decision prior to purchase, which I believe is the breach of Consumer Protection Regulations. The adviser explained that it was indicated in their terms of business that the prices are only applicable for UK passport holders and that by accepting their terms I have accepted it. Is it not the breach of the EU Law for discrimination? I have received a refund for a hotel and was advised to find an alternative hotel which would accept my passport, but prior to purchasing I was asked to contact them to check this. When I rang the sales department they said that there are no hotels that would apply this rate because of my nationality. They refused to refund me the money for flights, so what was I supposed to do with these flights if I couldn't get any hotel because of my nationality? Was I expected to sleep on the street? Each time I tried to contact any adviser, it would take me 40 minutes to hold on the line and they charge fee for each minute. Upon picking up the phone, none of the adviser's were helpful, kept saying some nonsense and referring me to the clause in their terms of business that is not applicable to me (and I checked this with Citizens Advice Bureau) Please Avoid them!

Poor quality of service provided to someone I know, unprofessional and are unwillingly to help. Holiday costs more than advertised

My friend booked a holiday with this company and the site has so many 'hidden' charges. If you don't have a British passport watch out. She ended up losing £400 just like that. Terrible website - never use it.

If I could give no stars I would. Very poor experience. Unable or unwilling to assist when issues occurred. Staff kept saying not their fault as it was in the small print but so small IT ACTUALLY WASN'T THERE! Ended up having to cancel holiday, no compensation given and lost almost £400.

Not sure how this site can contain so many good reviews when you look everywhere else they're terrible! Had an awful experience and stole my money without any justification, you can't speak to anyone and when you eventually get a reply they just say take us to court knowing it will be too costly to do so. AVOID AVOID AVOID and look at other review sites and facebook to hear all the real reviews and stories of what these cowboys get up to, totally shocking, Rougue traders should look into this company!

The issue that I have experienced was: I had booked a holiday on the 12th of june 2018. Cancelled it on the 14th of june paying £85 deposit. They told me to cancel on their site. Couldn't cancel this as there was no cancel button on their site. They said it was on "Request a change". I was then told by another I had to pay the flights. They then took £149 out my account and disregarded any suggestion of me asking for my money back. The holiday was cancelled due to flight times and so forth. Constant messaging them and the still refused to give my money back.£235.93 in total. Another message from them 13 th of November "flight change" booking canceled. They have to give me my money back now. No, more delay and stalling tactics and overall incompetence. Another message from them we refunded your money on the 31/12\19 . Must have went into the future for this one. Then another message "it was released into your account", this time with the date being 1/1/19. "A result". This of course was not the case. I have had them telling me to confirm my bank account and sent the statement to firstly there 'Customer care department' , which I did then it was their Financial Department" which i did the subsequently to their "escalations team" after this. As january rolled on and then February. Messages from them were contradicting the previous message. Still no Refund and that has been since June 2018. This meant that I have been affected by lose of my money. Interest on my account. Being treated deplorably with no apologies, incompetent staff and overall outraged with Sunshine.co / on the beach. To acknowledge that they have been utterly unreasonable and refund my money. £235.93.

Excellent company PROVIDING YOU DO NOT BUY THROUGH A CASH BACK SITE Our 84 year old mother did this as the Sinshine entry on Top Cashback said she would get her cash back when she paid 3 MONTHS LATER SHE IS STILL WAITING AS SUNSHINE NOW WONT PAY UNTIL SHE DEPARTS 5 MONTHS AFTER SHE PAID- WHAT A CON !
