“Paying Telkom as a favour, don't expect any service!
Telkom decides to switch off accounts whenever they feel like it. My husband and I have been customers on contract for around a decade now and they periodically decide to switch off and lock our cell phone contracts for no reason. When you call to find out what is happening they are utterly useless and need to be informed what an audit is. They take debit orders for random amounts whenever they feel like it and, you guessed it, getting to the bottom of it is impossible! We've been paying every month, without fail and have been unable to use our phones for over a month now because of this. So apparently Telkom gets paid as a favour and you get a nice paper weight in return. Great job Telkom, here's a round of applause!”
“Hi all,
I am extremely disappointed with the handling of my insurance claim (#3734225), which I submitted on January 8, 2025. It has now been over a month, far exceeding the 4–7 working days I was initially told it would take. Despite multiple calls and follow-ups, I have received nothing but vague assurances with no concrete resolution.
I have spoken to various call center agents, yet none of them can provide me with any useful information regarding the status of my claim. Every time I call, I am either given contradictory responses or told that my claim is still being processed with no clear timeline for resolution. The lack of communication and poor customer service from your team is completely unacceptable. There has been no proactive feedback, and I have had to chase updates at every stage.
What is even more frustrating is that I have spoken to several other people who have previously had to claim for a device, and their matters were resolved in less than a week—whether through Vodacom or other reputable household insurance providers. So I have to ask: What seems to be the issue here? Why is my claim taking so long when others have been processed efficiently and within the promised time frame?
This delay has caused major disruptions for me, as I rely on my device for work, including logging onto VPNs and receiving MFA codes. At this point, I regret choosing this insurance policy, as it has proven to be one of the worst I have ever encountered. I cannot, in good faith, recommend it to anyone.
I trust that you will treat this with the urgency it deserves. I look forward to your prompt response.
Kind regards,
Shanice”
“TELKOM PLEASE FIX YOUR ONLINE PORTALS..Your online portals are always a problem when trying to make payment ..according to customer service agents it takes quicker for payment to reflect when doing payment through your online portal..but the online portal never works....SO WHATS THE POINT OF HAVING ONE.”
“Absolutely Terrible Customer Service – Avoid Telkom!
I have had the most frustrating and upsetting experience with Telkom, and I feel compelled to share my disappointment. Not only have I been incorrectly charged for a service for years, but when I tried to cancel it, I was given wrong information, leading to the wrong service being canceled instead.
I made multiple calls—over ten in a single day—only to be bounced from one department to another, with no one taking responsibility or knowing how to resolve my issue. The worst part of this experience was dealing with Nothando Khumalo from the sales team, who was extremely rude and unprofessional. She ignored me when I tried to speak, gave me an incorrect contact number, and when I requested to speak to her superior, she hung up the call. When I called back and got her again, she pretended not to know me and refused to escalate my complaint.
Telkom’s customer service is a complete disaster—rude, untrained staff, misleading information, and zero accountability. As paying customers, we deserve respect and proper service, but instead, we are met with arrogance and incompetence.
I am now canceling my contract because I refuse to continue paying for such a terrible service. If you're considering Telkom, think twice—you may find yourself in the same frustrating situation. Absolutely unacceptable experience!”
“Terrible service the stuff in call center and in the store they have an attitude I'm actually canceling all my deals with them useless service providers”
“I don't think they deserve a star. They put extra money to my bill and when I tried calling them I get answer from a machine. I sent them an email on the 6th of January 2025, still waiting on them for a response. So I would not recomnend Telkom to anyone”
“Telkom owes me a refund since 2022 to this day I never got my R770 they owe me, I tried several times to get my money back but was never successful. Their stuff don't take customers serious.... Telkom, I want my money back.”

“Telkom has become a junk it has been 19 days without network. And its not the first time experiencing this. Please south africa lets stop buying or using this stupid and useless network”
“Telkom is the worst and most unethical Provider, their staff and bundles never work.
Why is the service Provider not doing anything about the delivery of service let alone the standard of service.
Honestly this Provider is just a way to ensure they rob the public and they have no shame in doing so !!
Yet they are hasty to take your money or cap you, but if you have to cancel you deal or upgrade, one has to go through so much of frustration and financial problems before they help you..
Honestly I feel its a tactic they use to reel in customers make them sign their financially life away on a non delivering service and you can't even get help.
YOU LITERALLY DO A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL”
“Good day,
Firstly the money went off my account yesterday. Today I get this notification.
I have been telling Telekom for months to place a debit order. Only yesterday did the debit order go off!
Why send this to me if Telkom took the full payment?
You want to send threatening letters but I have been asking that there be a debit order. This is ignored. Really we are in a modern day and age where debit orders are customarily instated. We should not be having to go and pay invoices.
I have also requested statements to be sent with the invoice so that I can see the balances, has this been done? No it hasn't.
CPA is very clear on account requests. I should be receiving a statement when requested.
I had a consultant contact me in December and she stated to me that they want to instate the debit order, I thought finally..... then she confirmed that only January is outstanding. You state I last made payment in August, but I paid on the 11th December 2024!
Are you sure that your details that you have are correct?
This is unacceptable. We have daily jobs and your numbers are blocked by true caller as they are marked as spam.
We also had Telkom deduct R1100 from my account and went into telkom to find out what this was for, I was told that this is the debit order, a week later I got another nasty call stating I'm outstanding. I said that is impossible. I emailed the proof of the transaction and I got no response. I went back to Clearwater branch and they told me this is a penalty. A penalty of R1100?
And also gender is incorrectly captured, surely you should know that I am a Male not a female! Your notice is incorrect and makes me question the integrity and competence of Telkom and your collections company.
Talking of collections, there is no name to the person who sent me this collection notice, please provide me with a copy of your registered debt collection certificate, which should still be valid. Failure to present this as proof of you being a registered debt collector could lead to serious legal ramifications.
Telkom needs to also take accountability for their lack of administration as they are not accommodating their clients. Every month it is a constant battle.
I honestly await in anticipation for your response”
“Horrible service at Telkom for 3 months we tried to get a Telkom line and Wi-Fi oh my word everyone ignored us didn't reply didn't get back to us we went there the guy was so rude with a stupid attitude we cancelled everything with Telkom I do not recommend Telkom for anything”
“Telkom' service is poor went to the springs branch were they cancelled my Sim without asking me ,now the head office is useless and can't assist they take u from pillar to post, don't take any product with them because they are not professional at all and the and they don't know what they are doing”
“There was a certain phone I wanted at Telkom Mall Of Africa. The phone was under a black friday special. But due to lack of stock in store, the Sales Consultant said he will call me once the stock has arrived. I filled up a contract application form and sent the right documents which he said it will do. I waited for a whole month with no feedback from the store. Once I started to ask questions on the Customer Service email, the Sales Consultant calls after I have complained and told me that I won't get the phone because of a wrong document which he said is fine. I was patient for so long and I waited just to get a rejection on my application. Now I can't get the phone I wanted just because of an employee who gave me false promises. So unhappy of the service.”
