“I absolutely love Tippsy! I have a great selection of wonderful sakes to choose from and the flavor profiles are really helpful. I have some super favorites that I can always get ( like Hawk in the Heavens, Tears of Dawn and Pearls of Simplicity) But the flavor profiles have never led me astray and allowed me to taste some I may never have tried otherwise like Night Swim, Gold Muroka, and Living Jewel. I may technically still be a sake novice; but I sure as heck am enjoying the homework! And since I work from home, the sign on delivery isn’t an issue at all. My only worry is what the UPS man thinks of me now!”

“Going to a liquor store and looking for sake is a terrible experience. The selection is usually poor, and if you don’t read Japanese, you have no idea what’s in the bottle, other than the processing classification. Tippsy has been an amazing find for me. I’m trying sake from all over Japan, I get info & education on each bottle, and it’s delivered to my door! The bottles are the typical 350ml size you’d purchase at a restaurant or bar, and each one has a detailed card so you know what you’re getting into before you crack it open. It’s a good amount to share with someone over an appetizer, or to enjoy alone over a full meal. Tasting notes and pairings are fantastic. I actually keep my cards, and write more notes on them: date I enjoyed, what I ate with it, my thoughts, etc. I wish I didn’t have to be home to sign for it, but Tippsy does a great job with shipping notices too, so I know exactly when to be home.”

“I never thought I'd come across a sake home delivery service! Definitely a very exciting business idea, and I am really glad I get to try out the lovely sakes you guys have. I love sake but have never really been able to sample different varieties so this is great and I will continue to order more sakes from here. Great job guys, keep it up!”

“I am far from a sake connoisseur. I have been introduced to good sake from my favorite local sushi chef. While I have definitely decided that I like Sake...I can't tell you much more than that. :-) This is why Tippsy has been so great for me. Not only do they send me a pack of 3 new sakes every month, but the bottles come with summaries and descriptions so I know what to look/taste for. They are helping me turn my enjoyment of sake into something a bit more normal than simply, "Ooooh...what a pretty bottle." I look forward to my shipment every month.”

“Shipping has been quick and Tippsy carries my favorite brand of Nigori. I love the fact that I can order Kurosawa Nigori through Tippsy because not many other online retailers carry it”

Hi Karl, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are happy to hear you enjoyed your Sake! As for the price we strive to offer our service at the lowest possible price. When you consider that many of the hand selected items in the monthly Sake Box tend to be rare and often times not even available in Japan let alone the United States along with our custom hand crafted detailed information and pairing suggestions not to mention shipping & handling we like to think it is a great deal. That being said your opinion is important to us and we will continue to find ways to improve our service!

“Offerings are fine, but shipping is a nightmare. United Parcel sends me an email that the 2 bottles will arrive before 9pm. (Signature required). After waiting 10hrs i get another email that they delivery will be thurs before 9pm. I'm not waiting around another 10+ hrs. Email Tippsy to cancel which they say they'll do. I find a box outside my door Sat afternoon. Tippsy never bothered to follow up and with all the litigation today you might not what "Lil Johnny" getting his hands on alcohol.”

“I love the idea~ and the first 3 orders were perfect. Sadly, I cannot give a strong review as the customer service leaves something to be desired. I have also been waiting for nearly a month for an order I placed in mid-May.... and another recent order was suddenly "sold out" of an item that had been in stock back when I made the order. Then I was "reimbursed" only a fraction of the cost of the missing items. I want this company to succeed... but they need to fix some stuff!”
