“Coming from more than a decade of 'hard' practice in the forms of sitting meditation, bowing meditation, and others all of which requires a tremendous amount of effort, TM has been nothing short of miraculous with regards to the amount and quality of results/rewards I have experienced in contrast to the effortlessness of the practice. I have only been practicing for 9 days now including the introductory session. So I know I have a long way to go on this adventure into myself. But the one mystifying benefit that TM has given me is that it is now, already, a reliable/dependable tool as a daytime 'sleep aid'. It is by no means a substitute for sleep. But on the nights I do not get enough sleep, I 'know' that I can go ahead and start my day with confidence because I have the morning and afternoon TM sessions to help rejuvenate my tired mind and body enough to get through what I need to until I am able to reward myself with proper sleep. Regardless of how shallow or deep my sessions, I can trust myself and TM to enable my mind to do what it needs to do for my best interest.
Another acutely noticeable benefit is that I am aware of the state of my mind. I can sense the differences in my brain's capacity for work and creativity when I have not slept enough vs well rested vs when stressed. That is to say, I am now aware of how far my body can be pushed and when to slow down or nurture it.
Lastly, because I thoroughly enjoy my TM sessions, I find myself wanting to carve out time and arrange a quiet place dedicated to 'me time'. That has helped me to appreciate 'me time' as a form of critical self-nourishment for the first time in my life and now I prioritize 'me time' above all else.
