Purchased a DualPower Pet advance which put down more water than it picked up. Vax replaced the unit which has burnt out several belts, acrid smoke and debris from the unit. No one wants to service and it seems hardly worth further investment. Bad design. Customer service operates OK during warranty but unless you can get an extended warranty, forget these. Here's an example of burned up belt which you quickly learn to intercept before the house stinks of burning rubber.

I bought the vax Blade 3 with high expectations. It became clear very quickly that the battery would only run for 20 mins despite what they claimed I their advert. I rang customer services and was basically told that is right, and “does it work?” As I confirmed that it did they said that I didn’t have grounds for complaint. Now the battery has totally died. I can’t get any support online and am reluctant to ring given my previous experience. I do not want to spend any more more and a very mediocre product. I would avoid vax battery products, their customer service and abandon any hope of getting any kind of support.

Motor failed on my vacuum after 3 years. Only used twice a week in my small flat. One month outside guarantee but Vax said there was nothing they could do. Very disappointed.

We have two cordless hoovers and the batteries on both hoovers have failed, will not recharge. We phoned vax and we were told that they know they have a problem with their batteries. He then said we could purchase two new batteries for £70 each. Why would we want to purchase batteries that vax know they have problems with. We declined and won’t be buying another Hoover from vax. Very disappointed customer. It’s a pity vax didn’t tell us that they knew about the issue with their batteries before we purchased two hoovers at the cost of over £300.

I ordered a Blade4 Pet vacuum with 2 batteries to make sure I could hoover the whole flat without waiting for 1 battery to re-charge. It arrived quickly, so was pleased with that. I registered it online to get the 5 year warranty & that was a simple job, although it was registered with the original 1 year warranty from the day I ordered, not the day I received it. I used the machine the next day. WHAT A NIGHTMARE! The rollers didn't go round, so nothing was picked up from the carpet. I turned the boost button on & it stuck to the carpet. I could hardly move it over my carpets & I tried 3 different rooms with different types of carpet. Every one was the same, I was unable to push or pull the vax properly, it just jumped over them. It didn't pick up anything as the rollers wouldn't go round, no fluff, bits or hair. It did pick up dust which was like sand, but anything else it just left on the carpets. I pushed & pulled it over the same bit 5 or 6 times & it didn't even make the fluff move, let alone pick it up. Even using the boost never picked up anything. The motor is at the top of the hoover & was really top heavy, so when I pushed it, the handle turned sideways with the weight of it, making the hooverhead turn over. It was really heavy too & as I have rheumatoid arthritis I couldn't control the handle. At one point, it turned the hooverhead over so quickly, I lost my balance & almost tripped over it. I spent over an hour on the online chat with a stupid robot who didn't understand that I wanted to return it for a refund. I eventually did get a human who organised DPD to collect 4 days later. I waited in all day & they never turned up. I again went online & got another useless robot who after 35 minutes transferred me to a human. When I explained that DPD hadn't turned up, no appology, no reason why, she just tried making excuses & after another 20 minutes, cut me off. It was her home time I think. I called the helpline number the next morning & spoke to a really nice man who said he would re organize a collection, but that they couldn't guarantee what time they would arrive, but that they would give me a time on the collection day. As I couldn't guarantee being at home at such short notice due to commitments, he suggested I take it to a pick up point. I told him I was 70 years old, had arthritis & didn't have a car so would have to walk there, which was 1/2 a mile away. That was the only option so he sent me a returns label & asked me to call UPS to arrange a collection day with them. 4 days later, the returns label arrived & I phoned UPS. The person on the other end, didn't have a clue, I couldn't hear half of what she was saying, & had to repeat everything about 4 times. I had to spell everything out letter by letter as she kept getting it wrong. Even my house number with 2 digits she got wrong, she added an A after the number, got both numbers wrong several times & when I gave her my address it took another 10 minutes for her to get it right. It took almost 50 minutes for her to take my details & give me the day they would collect from the pick up point. When I packed it up, I had to strap it to a trolley & then try to take it down my stairs as I live in an upstairs flat. That took me over 1/2 an hour. I then had to pull or push the trolley the 1/2 a mile to the pick up point. How I never had a heart attack I don't know. My arthritic hands were bruised & swollen on the palms & over the top of them where I had changed hands & turned my hands to hold the trolley handle which banged against the hoover box as it was so large & weighed 12 kgs. It took me almost an hour to get from my home to the shop as I had to keep stopping & swapping hands over. The whole thing from beginning to end was something you only think happens to someone else. It was bitterly cold & when I got to the pick up point, the shop wasn't open, even though I'd phoned through the day before to let them know I would be there at 10am when they opened as I had an appointment to go to after. I waited almost half an hour in the freezing weather before they finally turned up at the shop. I know this isn't all Vax's fault, but they need to make sure the delivery companies they use are competent & turn up on the arranged day, so you don't have to do what I did. I was absolutely furious, that through no fault of mine, I had to hump a 12kg vacuum cleaner 1/2 a mile nearly killing myself in the process, because DPD couldn't be bothered to turn up & that the vacuum was useless in the first place. NEVER,NEVER AGAIN WILL I USE VAX FOR ANYTHING, THERE VACUUM WAS AN ABSOLUTE WASTE OF MONEY. I've had confirmation they have received it but am now waiting for a refund, which I hope doesn't take too long to process as I've had to buy another vacuum cleaner from a different company & both amounts are due on my credit card.

Recently purchased a Vax Compact Power Carpet Cleaner and had an allergic reaction to the harsh chemical cleaner solution. I can no longer use that room and the chemicals are still lingering. This product is not fit for purpose and certainly not pet friendly! My dog also had severe eye irritation. Be aware of using this product!

£432.96 worth of machine and extras mysteriously goes missing somewhere between the VAX, EVRI and DPD warehouses. No one willing to help, VAX unwilling to refund until I’VE returned all items that haven’t even been dispatched or delivered. They acknowledge that there’s been an issue between themselves and the couriers and confirm nothing has been dispatched or delivered, yet can’t refund me until they receive all products back. Therefore I’m now out of pocket by £432.96. Small claims court looming for VAX unfortunately.

Continual faults (now on 4th machine!) awful customer service and opening hours make it extremely difficult to contact them. 2 months from reporting fault to recovering a new machine is not acceptable but it’s fine to them!

Trying to contact customer service . Its a joke!!!! No one answers phone calls after being on hold for half an hour. Live chat just cuts off and emails go unanswered. Just a generic reply. I wouldn't recommend this company for the non existent customer service alone. Its abysmal !!!!

I’ve had a total of 3 Vax Platinum Power Max machines because the brush mechanisms failed to rotate after only 2 uses. All 3 had to be returned for the same system failure! Clearly a design and manufacturing problem. Strongly advise you avoid purchasing this model

Bought the Vax carpet cleaner shortly before moving house - used it once and the dirty water failed to enter the lower part of the machine. Put it in storage whilst moving (which took longer than anticipated) and when attempted to use - terrible smell of burning so quickly turned it off. Because by then it was out of warranty, Curry’s refused to acknowledge any responsibility passing the buck to Vax. Unable to even speak to a human being regarding this on the Vaz helpline £249 wasted!!

Vax do not answer their chat line and on the one time I did get a response it was just a robot answer that referred me back to the premium rate phone line that told me to do it all again online. grrrrrrrr. Will not buy Vax again. Steam cleaner worked well until now so they let themselves down by not spending any money on staff to man the phones or chat line. Stupid but typical of organisations nowadays.
