booking was easy on line and the shop was only a block away from Penn station. Drop off was quick and easy- we were given numbered security tags to attach to our bags and told to take a picture of our bag with the tag on. When we returned however it all seemed a bit chaotic, there were bags everywhere, lining the stairs and in piles upstairs and downstairs. We were sent to seek through piles to find our own bags, no system...we found all of ours in different parts of the shop and were given no help negotiating the steps down which were littered with bags. No-one checked our security tags or asked to see any documentation or our photos before we left with our bags. I was left with the uneasy feeling that anyone could have left with any of the bags unchallenged. Having said that, this seems to be the only bag storage option close to Penn and it worked for us on this occasion.

I can only speak of my experience with Vertoe in Chicago. In concept, Vertoe is great. In practice, there is room for improvement. The store name provided in the confirmation email did not match the storefront sign which was confusing and not very reassuring. The lady that checked in our bags were nice and did ask to see our confirmation email. The 'secure storage space' was an open space in the back of a salon and bag tags weren't offered—we had to ask for them. There were a lot of Vertoe bags already so left about 85% confident our bags would be there when we came back to pick them up. When we came back to pick up our bags, the lady that checked us in wasn't there. The salon owner wasn't the most pleasant and waved us to go get our bags. No one asked to see the photos of the bag tags. We could've walked out with someone else's bag and/or equally worse, someone else that came to pick up their bag before us could've walked out with ours. I think Vertoe is a great service and idea. With improvements on security, they're on to something big!

The location was excellent but the host seemed bothered and it didn't look like he appreciates the business.

He didn’t know the procedure of securing the bags with the zip ties. Since we previously used your service at the shoe cobbler in Chicago we were able to tell him how to do it

No problem with the storage location — the problem was with the description as being “near the aerospace museum, when in fact it was quite some distance away. It would be much more informative and thus useful to say a location is so many miles or minutes from a given landmark.

The service is ideal, however i think store owners should be better oriented about the process. The store owner got mad because I asked him to place the security tags on the luggage and did not want me to take the pictures. Apparently, he found it offensive that I followed the protocol that the app instructed me to follow. He said I was the first person to do that which makes me think he is not aware of the tag-picture protocol. When picking up our luggage he told us not to show our IDs because we didn’t trust him, but he trusted us (in a condescending way) Which again, is breaking the rules.Overall, my experience would have been a lot better if he would have not gotten so offended that I was following the protocol.

Wasn't to sure of the place when we dropped our bags off but everything was together when we picked up. Had a large number of bags (15) just wished they would of tagged all of them (only had our info on one bag). When we picked up had to point out which bags were ours so someone could of easily have taken one of ours by mistake. Great location, very close to the space needle and restaurants around so we could get a bit to eat after a long flight.

The overall experience was decent. I honestly wasn't sure if this was a scam. Turns out - it's a real thing! And kinda a wonderful and useful thing. BUT - our first booking didn't show up - they had a problem with their employee (according to the person we called) and were not planning to open their business or show up until much later - a situation that really didn't work for us. I was irritated that there wasn't some sort of policy in place (or maybe there is?) where the business notifies Vertoe and Vertoe can set us up automatically w/ another booking before we bother hauling ourselves and our bags over. We took the train out to the business, stood around wondering why they weren't open yet, and made a series of calls (after spending time looking things up on our phones), all of which was pretty inconvenient and burned through our remaining free time. It actually altered our plans for the day. That said, once we had gone through those steps, Vertoe set us up with a replacement booking *very quickly* and I would say probably as close as they could - but we still had to jump on another train to get there. The booking we ended up with was conveniently located for our needs, friendly enough, and secure enough for us to feel comfortable enough. We had no issues from that point forward. Partly I thought, they should comp us on the service for our trouble; but then I thought, it's already pretty cheap, it's literally a fraction of the cost quoted on the train station's website for essentially similar service. I do feel that if there isn't already a policy in place, the service should have some way of making sure that these sorts of things are worked out in advance - that the business should be held responsible and have to call Vertoe, and Vertoe set up the replacement, before we leave the apartment and get on a train. Perhaps there should be a double-check 3 hours before drop off, where the business owner can click a button to indicate, yes, I'm still down, I'll still be there; and the business owner can foot the bill if they don't show up. Anyways, I still recommend it, and the service makes up for what is essentially a deficit in the Air BnB service, for cheaper than comparable services, as far as I can tell.

Good convenient service. They charge by the calendar day so even if your bags are only there overnight you get dinged twice. Too bad.

This was super convenient and easy (also, unlike other services, you don't need a credit card). However, the bags were just left in the store: they weren't locked in a room or anything, so anyone coming in from the street could have just taken one. In a pinch, I'd probably use this service again (they were the only ones in the vicinity open late enough and worked with a debit card), but I'd try to avoid it.

The process was easy enough, just be aware this is in a restaurant so pay attention to the hours, we didnt realize they closed at 4pm on Sat so we paid $16 for 2 carry on luggage for only 2hr and the owner wouldn't even let me leave my backpack without charging another $8 just for the backpack

The location where I was directed to was a shoe repair/key making shop/phone repair place. We dropped off two suitcases and they put on tags. We weren’t given any receipts, nor did they ask for ID, but they told us that we could take a photo of the tags. Needless to say, we did. When we came back for our bags several hours later, our suitcases were sitting by the door. We told them that we were there to pick up our suitcases and pointed to our bags by the door. They said to go ahead. When we asked how they knew that they were ours, they said, it’s ok! We could’ve been anyone. We weren’t asked for any ID. At some point, someone is going to figure this out and steal a bag. I’m rating this acceptable because I did get my bags back, but I don’t think that I’d do it again.

We found ourselves with some unexpected extra time in NYC and heard about Vertoe from our travel agent. We were very excited to learn about this worldwide service; it’s going to be a game changer! However, our first experience wasn’t what we had originally hoped for. We scheduled our bag drop off for 9am. The shop owners didn’t show up until 9:45. We lost almost an hour of our exploring time which was really disappointing. Outside of that, checking the bags and picking them up went smoothly. We will use Vertoe again. But if we find ourselves in NYC once more I think we will be avoiding that particular shop.

The people in the store are super indifferent and rude. Also the luggage are stored in the tiny wet basement with large roaches running on the ground. Kind of disgusting.

This arrangement worked out great -- was able to go to theater, pick up bags, and get to Port Authority in minutes. However, the store didn't seem prepared -- didn't know whether I had prepaid. Also, when I returned to pick up the bags, rather than bringing them out from a back room, I was troubled to see them out on the floor next to all their luggage for sale. That doesn't seem very secure!

While the sign-up and reservation process was easy, the storage place in Brooklyn, Dean Organic Market (near the Barclay Center) was filthy and tiny, and it was not easy to feel that the bags were safe, either. Very disappointing,

Was not thrilled with my experience. Nothing on the website said anything about the location closing early for Memorial Day (and it let me book a later afternoon pick up time). I arrived with my luggage expecting to have 5 hours of luggage free-time only to be informed that I had to pick up my bags 3 hours earlier than I expected. Definitely put a dent in my day - I would have arranged other plans in advance, had I known. Also, despite what is shown on the website, there are no blue security locks or tags on your bags. This is a great idea in theory, but in reality, poorly executed.

Left our 3 cases in a shoe repair shop near Grand Central. Very easy process and v close to GCT but I felt uneasy about the lack of checks as to picking them up. Nobody asked us our names or gave us a code or a ticket to show when picking them up.

I think this is a great service to use. The insurance definitely helps give piece of mind; however, the actual process does seem sketchy and doesn't inspire confidence. The shop we dropped our bags off at didn't check our ID's (at pick up or drop off) and allowed us to go to the back with all of the bags unattended to store/retrieve our items. This could easily lead to theft or mistakes.
