I was shipped the incorrect bar. Ordered black zinc bar and received bright zinc.

Despite decent equipment, this company has no concept of customer service, and their treatment of customers that spent a significant amount of money during these times is disgusting. Their online inventory is completely false leading you to place and lock into an order thinking it is in-stock and will ship, in my case waiting weeks for shipment with no notification of such. When you try to contact them, like other reviewers have noted, calls are disconnected while on hold, and if you email, a case opens and closes without resolution. Of course this means you cannot cancel an order since you must do so by phone. Then when you do receive your "in-stock" items weeks past the Covid-edited ship times, a quarter of the set is backordered for months. Funny part, is that the items are still listed in-stock on the site! They may be living in times of plenty as we desperately rush to outfit our home gyms, but things will go back to normal at some point, and their reputation of greed and poor service will catch up. For now, there are so many more companies that offer the same or better product, and answer phones and emails, and notify you if there's a delay. I suggest we give them out business.

Bought 2 med balls. Both very unbalanced, so much so that they were dangerous to use as a wall ball due to the unpredictable bounce. Made 3 videos and customer support agreed they were not balanced and not round. However, they refused to honor their "100% satisfaction guarantee"

I originally bought 7 sets of dumbbells. I looked around at several brands and these met all of my criteria including the handle size I want. The feel and look of them made me extremely satisfied. So for about 7 months or so I waited for more to come in stock to fill the gap with what I already had. Finally I was able to put in a pre order. Before they arrived I was sent an email saying that the writing on them was white instead of the grey like they are supposed to be and asked if I still wanted them, but they would still be the same price. Even though I’m pretty particular and don’t want a mismatching set, I’ve been waiting months so I agreed to accept them. Upon receiving them I noticed that my set of 55 and 85 had 34mm handles instead of 32mm like they are supposed to be, per their advertisement. The handle size was one of my main reasons why I bought them and my 65-75 are 32mm so now I have random mismatched sizes and it’s extremely annoying. In closing, a accepted a different color, NOT different handle sizes. Also the actual text is different size and spacing. So why would a company want to sacrifice their product quality, reputation and customer satisfaction and offer the customer an inferior product for the same price? To me it seems like profit was more important to them.

I gave this product two stars because it arrived intact and on time. I removed three stars because the product does not perform well. The sleeves do not spin freely. They stick, grind, and even make an audible squeak as they “spin” under load. When the sleeves rotate, the bar rotation is influence by them. For example, when performing a clean, as you catch the bar in the front squat position the plates rotate from the pull. In a normal bar the plates and sleeves would rotate independently from the bar and you would not feel the bar rotate at all in your hands due to the sleeve rotation. This bar rotates with the plates and sleeves due to the drag, which causes the barbell to roll up onto your neck in the front squat and rack position. This is especially dangerous when the weights get heavy. This rotational “follow through” is similar with the snatch, as well. Again, very dangerous. I voiced my concerns to customer support and was told to drop heavier weights overhead and the sleeves will break in. I was also told I could lubricate the bushings. Already too much work to be done on a brand-new bar, but I did as was suggested to no avail. Two months later and the bar has not improved. I’ve continued to reach out (even sending in videos of the problems) because I wanted to give Vulcan a chance to remedy the situation, but it is clear they aren’t concerned with the performance of their product. They have said that unless the sleeves stop spinning, fall off, or the bar bends they aren’t responsible for poor performance. I’m disappointed in the product to say the least, but more so in the support. I’ve purchased many barbells, and none have been this bad. In the last email exchange, I was told the sleeves either spin or they do not spin at all. This is the dumbest statement I’ve ever heard. Which sort of sums up my experience with this company’s customer support. Please save your money and purchase a barbell from a more reputable company who will stands by their product(s).

I ordered a 25lb plate and a 35lb plate around April during the peak of the pandemic shopping craze because gyms were closing. I received the 25lb plate after a month or so, with an email stating the 35lb plate was on its way. Several months pass with no word, email, phone call and I write an email asking about the 35lb which I had already paid for and got a rude response. Several more months pass and no word. I then send an email stating I want a refund and they say they will send a check, but the check never came either! I had to email over a month later and then they finally mailed it. Horrible customer service. I'd give one star but the plate is actually alright.

The 2 5# plates I got are great. However, I order 2 pair and paid for 2 pair but only received 1 pair. I could certainly understand some one in a hurry making a mistake when packing my order. What is disappointing is the non existent support. The phone number hangs you up when you transfer to support, and when you enter your information into the web form there is no confirmation email or any indication that your request went anywhere. Been a week of calling and emailing - nothing.

Ironic that I’d get an email about writing a review... I ordered some 2.5 lb and 5 lb weights back in August for a preorder of September, and when my package arrived two weeks ago I only received half of my order. I’ve been trying to get ahold of customer service but their phones don’t go through and no one returns emails. I wouldn’t recommend any purchases due to the lack of help when something goes wrong. I will never order from Vulcan again, hopefully I can at least her the rest of my order or a refund... pretty upset.

Safety squat bar was pretty good quality for the money. Customer service however is probably the worst I've ever experienced. I called probably 25 times over the 60 days it took to get my product and only got ahold of someone 3 times. They repeatedly gave me wrong information, sent my package to a wrong address and generally didn't know what was happening.

Hi Brandon Kuehl, Thank you for your review. At the time you placed your order the demand for exercise equipment was unprecedented as a result of the Covid-19 Pandemic. Unfortunately, there was no way we could prepare for this as no one was prepared for this global situation that has negatively impacted many peoples lives. Our state was under a stay at home order and our work force was limited to 50% of our normal capacity. Our deepest apologies that there were any delays in you receiving your safety squat bar. We value your feedback and your continued support.

I have purchased a pair of 10kg and 25kg plates from Vulcan as well as a 15kg bar. I will say I am very happy with my plates. The bar on the other hand is a different story. I purchased the B side 15kg elite bearing Olympic bar for $419. It not only rattles but is shedding metal on the sleeves. I attempted calling the customer service many times only to find the line was closed (or something because no one ever answered and just had a recording). I also emailed customer service to no avail. I really wanted to support a small, veteran ran company and I understood the issues COVID caused but I’m very disappointed in the bar and regret not paying the extra $100 for a rogue bar.

When I called three times all three times I was able to say my question immediately after I was hung up on. It was one male and one female that just kept hanging up on me. I don’t understand why I would be hung up on instead of spoken to as a person. It was completely unprofessional.

Hi Tiffany, If you called during a period of a high volume of calls there may have been some service issues simply due to the call volume. All of our calls are recorded and supervised and none of our team would intentionally hang up the phone on a customer. Sorry for any trouble. Thank you for your feedback!

Plates were shipped on time but customer service is poor. I am understanding that COVID has had a deep impact but I’ve been waiting 3 weeks so far for an emailresponse on why I haven’t received a refund for the shipping cost I paid but wasn’t supposed to be charged for. When I try to call their customer service number it takes you through the options puts you on hold for a few minutes then hangs up on you. Very annoying. I will gladly change my review if I can just get the refund I was promised.

Can't speak with anyone and every time you try the voicemail is full and you get disconnected. This was my favorite company with regards to fitness equipment. I ended up spending almost $9k at Sorinex because I was unable to speak with anyone and my orders kept getting canceled after placing them.

I've never actually had a purchase experience that has left me with the sort of revulsion I have felt with my purchase through Vulcan. Actual revulsion, and if it were not for the cost and effort it would take at my own personal inconvenience and expense, I would return every single bumper plate, bar, and the unusable rack I received. The equipment I have received is good enough. But in a market that is saturated with plenty of good products, I prioritize customer service over cost. Almost 3 weeks later, the wait continues for them to rectify their error. The service number they provide is inconsistently answered, more often than not it disconnects after a wait period. Email along the same lines. The latest shipping label still sits in pending status 2 days later... I get it, they're experiencing high volume. However, if you can't manage the volume in your queue, stop taking new orders until you can. Taking people's money while you try to get yourself sorted out isn't a best practice.

The training bearing Olympic B side bar I was provided had zero cosmetic issues - great! However, mechanically there is a fairly major issue. The spin is almost non existent. I have seen reviews of the spin and the bar I was provided does not match. I would have been more than ok with cosmetic issues - why I opted for the B side bar - but I am very disappointed with this issue especially since they claimed there would be none.

David, the war you received is new and had some cosmetic defect. It is probably very minor. Please use the bar . It is a new bar and the bearing and internal lubricants need a little time to break in. Let us know if you need further assistance. vulcan@vulcanstrength.com

We like the product but not everything was included. We didn’t get all the parts to assemble it. We had to go buy the 8 nuts and lock washers and 3 extra bolts.

Alpha Bumpers are from China. The whole American made thing is way overblown. Took more than 3 weeks for me to get 1 bumper plate. The rest I am told will arrive piecemeal over possibly 5 separate shipments. The Support side of customer service never answered the phone nor returned my voice message. Return policy is not good, although at least that is fully disclosed. There is a high re-stocking fee and the buyer has to pay for shipping which makes it completely unfeasible.

Hi, All of our bumper plates made in China. They are not advertised as made in USA. Made in USA product are clearly listed as such on the product page and will state Made in USA. We are sorry that you received only one plate so far, but your entire order has shipped. You should have tracking information that will show you the status of the remaining plates and when they will be delivered, there are not 5 different shipments. When multiple boxes are shipped there is no guarantee that they will all arrive together unfortunately. The product you ordered is listed as shipping in 2-3 weeks on the product page and it shipped one day past the three weeks. Our apologies for that. As listed on your order confirmation, our delivery times can possible be delayed due to holidays. It seems that you did speak with someone based on what you have stated. We apologize that our response times are delayed due to the volume of communications we are currently receiving. Please let us know if we can assist you further.

Plates look good but only the 45s fit my bar? After a few emails to the company I got a response saying it was my bar, not the plates? All my Standard brand Olympic weights fit my bar fine. I've ordered a new bar so fingers crossed they fit it.

Hi, We cannot guarantte the fit of our plates on barbells that are not made to strict tolerances. The opening in the plate is 50.4mm, within .01 mm tolerance. The barbell you purchased from another supplier is not made to IWF specifications for sleeve tolerance.

After just one drop I noticed small specs of metal on my lifting platform. I dabbed them with tape and continued lifting. More metal came off. I notified Vulcan and they said some metal must have gotten on to the sleeves from another machining process in the building. I rubbed the sleeves with a damp cloth thinking it was remnants from manufacturing that were just on the surface. A large amount of chrome ranging is size from a spec to an inch-long curl came off on the rag. I sent those scraps to Vulcan. I brushed the sleeves with a brass brush and it did help but… chrome came off every time I used the bar and Vulcan refused to believe a word I said. The Vulcan Customer Service department is actually a Deny-and-Deflect Department. Their comments ranged from some metal got on the sleeves at the factory to it was my fault for removing chrome by brushing to it must be my bumper plates to no one has ever said anything like this before and our bars are used in competitions…Then after several weeks since Vulcan refused to act, I brushed both sleeves for 45 minutes each in an effort to make the bar useable. I didn’t need another metal sliver in my hand (that happened when I unpacked the bar) and I don’t want metal particles embedded in my platform, collars and bumpers. Finally after numerous exchanges I was sent an empty tube and return label. Vulcan agreed to check this one bar for flaws. All Vulcan would say when they looked at the bar was how they could definitely see where I brushed off chrome. They still didn’t get it. They would still not admit that the bar had a bad chrome job. Good chrome applied properly is a very durable metal. Vulcan talked about it like it was cheap paint. They still denied it was defective and said with metal on metal that will happen and they were afraid if they sent another bar I would have the same complaint. I asked: Metal on metal? Didn’t they use competition plates at contests? No one else used bumpers with steel sleeves? Friction created by sliding bumpers off and on removed chrome from the grooves and not the high points? At that point it became far beyond ridiculous. Very little they said made any sense. Finally I just told them that if this had never been an issue with any other bar they ever made just send me one of those and the issue will be resolved. I finally did receive a replacement bar after more than a month. The bar is nice, very smooth and whippy. The knurling is definitely not aggressive but is just about right. I really like the bar but the company is not good. I have never dealt with a company that continually tried to deny my complaints and then attempt to blame me for the problem. They have never taken responsibility for the problem and they never will. Beware!
