“The website is as much about giving users the hard sell as it is about letting customers buy.
'We think you may like these'.
A machine thinks it knows what I like. LOL
Just let me buy and go to checkout.
Click on go to checkout - it doesn't go there!
It goes to 'you bought these in the past . . '.
Well that was the past, I have a full trolley, why wasn't I taken to checkout when I clicked on 'checkout'?
I finally reached check out!
Now it doesn't accept the card payment that is stored on the website, and hasn't expired. I used it on another site and in a shop today. My card provider says the card is OK.
Oh well.
It's a taxi to a local supermarket tomorrow. They will take my card and won't harass me to buy this and that,... or the other.”
“Visited Springfield (Chelmsford) Asda on a busy Friday, only two people on tills, result long queues, whilst more staff standing around in the self-service area. I must have been in the queue for at least 20 minutes. The expectation is always for people to use self-service. On some days only one till open, it is getting ridiculous. I am now using Sainsburys more simply because they man their tills much better. Also have now noticed that Sainsburys are reducing more items, which have become overpriced in Asda such as Lloyd Grossman, Sharwoods and Heinz. Asda seem only interested in selling their app and as a consequence the prices on other goods are going through the roof. I am very close to no longer using Asda”
“These are my experiences of my problems trying to use the ASDA offer

of soup and unlimited tea or coffee for over 60s until the end of March; also the reaction of customer services and ASDA CEO's office to me informing them about this.
On 18 January I went to the ASDA, Isle of Dogs, London store to shop and use the above offer. I was told this was not possible because one of the microwaves was faulty and no soup would be available. It seems the other microwave would be reserved for making the lunchtime hot dishes. I wrote to customer services telling them that this situation needed to be rectified and was amazed to receive a reply that seemed to show they had no interest in this and that I should take it up with the manager of the store. Therefore I wrote to them again telling them that as customer services, comments from customers should actually be of interest to them, they wrote back asking me questions about the store, the answers to which I had already put in to my first message - showing they had not even bothered to read the first message before sending me a standard reply to get rid of me.
On 31 January I went to the ASDA, Barking store to and try again use the offer. This time I was told that there were no hot drinks or meals available at all and there was no indication given as to when the problem might be fixed. I wrote to customer services again and have yet to receive any reply.
I will not be going out of my way to try and use the offer a third time.
Finally I wrote to the ASDA CEO. The response I got from someone, presumably delegated to handle my query, was that they were having an issue with the hot water and a store manager would keep me informed directly about what was going on. I thought this response was as glib as the one from customer services as it did not attempt to address: which of the two stores had the issue (presumably Barking but that does not explain what happened at the Isle of Dogs); why it was taking almost a month to solve the problem; customer services' original attitude.
People might be forgiven for thinking that, although this and similar offers generate favourable headlines for ASDA when launched, in practice it is not possible to use them. I note that I have heard about similar experiences from other people trying to use the offer e.g. no hot water was available for the offer but conveniently other hot food was still available.”
“Go to the pershore branch most days because it's by work. Lately the shelves are empty. Some days, especially on a Saturday morning there are only 1 or 2 tills on even though there are queues. On one occasion I was told I would have to use the self service even though I had bags of coal and there were 3 members of staff behind the kiosk doing nothing.”
“Hi my mam has had. Stroke this year and I’m really disappointed to find that every time I go to my local Asda stores there is literally one disabled trolley which as u can imagine is never available. You need to make shopping easy for those who are disabled as otherwise you can’t get your weekly shop! This is not too much to ask otherwise Asda is being discrimative! Also when I was ther my back split and the assistant said she couldn’t help as people were waiting for assistance as you can imagine with a wheelchair bags and shopping all
Over the floor I was mortified and just wanted 2 mins of help. And as a nurse feel I should of been priority over an able bodied customer wait for 2 mins! Disappointed in you Asda do you value your disabled customers????”
“Ordered on line they did not even communicate to say my order was not coming even though my app said 1 away
No reason except shop issue!
I went to the store today they had less than a third of the goods I had ordered
!!!!!! Honesty and talking best policy
I think they should look at Amazon
Who have been doing it less that Asda!!”
“I have bought some fruit split ice lollies on saturdday, and they taste bland like water, and the ice cream filling was like frozen milk with no taste. Could you do something about this? thanking you, Lenora”
“I am using Asda every week. I do like idea of scan&go, I can pack product my way wthout till rush. Yesterday when I did my weekly shopping, I had to join queue with customers self scan products at till. I was not allowed to use bascet one because I used trolley which was a bit strange. I dont have to scan products at till so I would be quick. What point use own phone to scann products, when at the end still have to join queue with everyone. Don't get any quicker.”
“Did a click and collect order. Wasn’t ready at the allocated time. When it was brought out no frozen goods. Was told I couldn’t have the frozen so would be refunded. Had to go into store to purchase the frozen. No refund, so requested one. Could only have part refund. Food is expensive enough without paying for goods not received. Won’t be returning.”
“ASDA is on my doorstep. I do most of my shopping in Tesco. Recently ASDA shelves are empty. They have discontinued alot of items I liked to buy. The main thing is they have become very expensive. Example Betty Crocker cake mixture. ASDA price £2.25 Tesco price £1.99. I don't know who the new owners are at ASDA to me they seem to be running this once loved store into the ground.”
“Did my gorst click and collect order at the bolton store, no one around flr about 19 minutes when i got there, then i realised the joint of beef k bought for the dinner im supposex to be cooking now was t there, so i ask for a refund when all i want is the meal because i dont know what im supposed to be having for my tea now, and they have the cheek to send an email saying the gollowing:
“ We’re sorry to hear you were not happy with everything you received. However, we could not approve your refund.
Refund Details
Product Qty Reason
Asda Butcher's Selection Beef Joint Roast 0.4KG Missing item
We’ll use the information you passed us to make sure we improve. ””
“Hereford store 11/03/22 1700hrs decided to have a pizza made up as we have always been happy with the product. We'll until this evening so shocked hardly any toppings put on very little tomato on base layer . The young girl that served seemed to be inexperienced at her job. Big disappointment. Wouldn't recommend again.”
“Seeing price on the shelf but paying a much higher price at the checkout. Other supermarkets are guilty of this but ASDA is very bad. ASDA must profit millions of pounds from this. Most people don't bother querying this at checkout as it only amounts to a couple of pounds and not worth the bother of delay while assistant goes to check the price. Strangely it never happens the opposite way where you are charged less than the displayed price.”
“Generally I like Asda stores lots.
They sell many good value clothing items, but have no changing rooms in their new look stores. Inconvenient.
PLEASE be especially aware of buying a "preloved" item. They have to be purchased outright, and CANNOT be returned or refunded if they do not fit.
Although this is clear on the item's label, it makes no sense to me at all...some types of clothing (such as jeans) simply must be tried on before buying...👎😳🤔”
