DO NOT BUY PRE-LIT TREES! I purchased a clearance tree last year. I didn't want pre-lit, but that's all they had in the tree I wanted. I got the tree, set it up in my garage, and LOVED it. Sadly, I was in the middle of my 4th move in one year and misplaced the remote control. I was excited to set the tree up this year, but to my dismay, I realized I couldn't dim the tree without the remote. I called customer service, and after about 30 minutes of holding, a 10-minute delay in getting the information, I was told there were no replacement remotes for my tree. I could order one online. I have since tried 5 remotes, and NONE of them work. I now have a beautifully decorated tree, but can't have it lit at night because it's so obnoxiously bright! I can't believe a company of this caliber would charge the amount they charge and not have backup components such as a remote control to be purchased. I will cut out all the pre-lit lights and use my own dimmable lights in the future. Balsam Hill really let me down. Side note: The remote control was a tiny plastic thing that could easily be lost under any circumstances. If you buy pre-lit, which I don't recommend, DO NOT LOSE THE REMOTE!

Bought a two thousand dollar tree and after four years nothing but light issues. Call customer service and explained what the problem was and only got back very basic trouble shooting. After waiting on hold for ten minutes, I was told I had to buy a hundred dollar string of replacement lights, but since there are multiple strains out color and clear, I need multiple strains. And PS I would have to buy led because they don’t sell incandescent lights anymore.

One segment of lights went out and BH does not stock parts for the tree any longer because it is 5 years old. I was told that they erase your records after four years, so they couldn't even give me any information. Their tech department is a joke.

This is the worst Christmas tree I ever bought! It upsets me so much I don't even want to put it up! The first year we bought it the lights on the whole top never worked! I spent a long time talking to customer service. Basically they will not do anything. The only resolution they had was to send out new lights. What a joke! My lights are white and they sent out colored. I called and complained again with no resolution. Every year since a section does not work. At this point my tree has 2 sets of lights and looks absurd! You are better off buying a tree from Home Depot, Menards, or Lowe's. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON BALSAM HILL!

We were having trouble with some of the lights on our tree, and some of the tips falling off. We bought the tree just under three years ago. I called customer service and they were very friendly and accommodating. They told us that they will ship us a completely new tree free of charge. I was very happy with their customer service.

I have had my prelit, 8' Balsam Hill tree for 3years now and love it. This year, I had to replace a plug fuse and all is lit so no problems (yet)! Took me a bit of troubleshooting to find if-and-where to replace the fuse, but with some patience got it done. I was very troubled to see from the reviews that Balsam Hill is no longer offering replacement bulbs for "older" trees and telling customers to "just string some lights over the unlit section" on a $700+ tree investment. The fact that their bulb base is unique, is all-the-more upsetting. I suspect they are not making the incandescent bulbs any longer due to the takeover of LEDs. One of the previous reviewers had a GREAT idea of replacing the bulb only, but keeping the base (easy to do by carefully manipulating the wires that run thru the base). (Or) take all the bulbs off the tree and list them on Ebay... from what I see, you can probably make enough $$ to buy another tree from a different company.

Our tree is 5 years old and we paid approximately 1500 for the three. Multiple light sections were not working and we spent 4 hours following the trouble shooting guide with no success. Spoke with customer service and they said there was nothing they could do. I would never recommend this flawed product given the price point. Expected Better qualify

We bought a 9’ BH Nordmann Fir Twinkly lights tree on 20/11/23. The tree arrived with broken pieces and defective lights. I contacted the company immediately for a return. They kept saying it’s been actioned, but we heard nothing. Different advisors said different things. I’m not sure this company is legitimate? I’m shocked by the good reviews we found on line. This tree cost £1069 and now we can’t get hold of anyone to get a refund and return the tree. Customer service repeatedly refuse to put you through to a supervisor/ manager. You can’t get a straight answer from them. I think it’s a scam. Buyer beware!!

we purchased a 7.5’ tall tree. Received it timely. Put it up last Christmas ,only to find that section #2 lights were completely out. We called and the contact person was very nice and said they would replace the section - IN THE SUMMERTIME, In the meantime, they sent us a LONG string of lights for us to put on the tree. there were too many, so we had to go out and buy several shorter strings. In August, we received the new replacement of section #2. we put the tree up last Sunday and low and behold, half of the second new string did not work, and, part of the third section was out! This has been such a pain in the neck. I would NOT recommend anyone buying this tree. For the very expensive price, It is NOT worth the aggregation! a bunch of lights

Yet another disappointed customer! We bought our tree 3 or 4 years ago. It cost something like $1200. The lights are very unevenly distributed, with a lot of them on the top and bottom sections, while the middle section is sparse, making the tree look cheap and silly. We also bought a $99 tree topper that did not arrive until our tree was set up and decorated. So we saved it for the next Christmas, only to find that the light inside the rotating star came on for about a second, never to light up again. Of course customer service was no help at all. We wound up throwing the tree topper away—-what a waste. I’d never buy anything from this company again.

Last year i bought a 6’5” tree for $349 on sale. This year, same tree is $379 on sale. Nice tree but the sale price is the real price. Anyone who pays “full” price is foolish with money.

I purchased a 9 foot tree a few years ago and the lights have already gone out. I spend a lot of money on the tree and it didn't last long. Would never buy from Balsam hill again

BUYER BEWARE - - DO NOT SHOP AT BALSAM HILL! I purchased over $4,000 of xmas decorations/tree a few months ago and when I went to set things up, one of the items had lights that did not turn on. When I called to get help on this matter, they told me that the warranty was expired (bought 2-3 months) and there wasn't anything they could do. I had no words and was completely shocked by the way they treated me as a customer who spent a lot of money with their business.

Not worth the money. Light don’t work half the time. Last 3 year had to work on lights this year lights no longer work. Customer service said buy a new tree. $ 1400 you would think it would last longer than four years.

This tree is not what I thought. Very expensive for what it is. I don't know how any amount of 'fluffing' is going to get this tree to hide the pole and all the wires. Very disappointed. Also, you're led to believe on their website you can make payments through PayPal, when in fact you can't unless you apply for and get approved for PayPal's credit line. Deceptive. Looks like we're stuck with it unless we want to pay a lot to send it back. Definitely DON'T recommend this to anyone.

December of 2020 , we purchase 3 x 10 foot strands of battery powered LED prelit Fraser Fir garland for about $175plus per strand. The garland itself is a very high quality and beautiful. Each strand has 2 light strings powered by 2 seperate battery packs each using 4 AA batterys. This year 2 of the strands each have 1 string that will NOT light up. I called Balsm Fir and was told the guarantee on these garland was 30 days, and they could do nothing for us, and they had no idea what was wrong with them. The rep told me that some people ( other saps who spent mucho$$$ ) simply restring the strand with their own lights.$500-$600 for prelit Garland that lasts about 3 years is a rip off.Unless you want high quality garland with lights that will stop working in 3/4 years go some where else. poor value

They all have the most unresponsive customer service I’ve ever encountered. Completely inflexible to satisfy the customer or make any adjustments. They keep you on the phone for upwards of 30 minutes with no satisfaction provided. I would never use this again.

Bought a tree in 2017 and have treated it with kid gloves. Now half the lights don’t work and I have zero idea where the issue is. Tiny fuses in every plug, just better off tossing it and moving on. Garbage product.

Christmas tree lights would not come on in one section of the tree. The agent mumbled and was hard to understand, I still don’t know his name. He did not listen or understand the product well enough to help. My problem was not resolved, I had to look up and tell him that it was a resistor box on the LED lights that was going out. My lights would not come on but if I moved the box they would flash on. This a tree I purchased in 2019 and have only used twice. Then he was condescending, when I asked if there was a resolution he laughed and said buy a new tree, no offer of a discount or apology about a faulty electrical system; LED lights that last 100,000 hours are no good if the resistors give our after 20 hours of use. Worsted experience with a company ever.
