Complete scam. Complete scam. They send you broken items. You get a few hours to complain, then after over x amount of days you get a few hours to arrange return or they get to keep your money if you can't make 4 hours free of working hours to arrange the return of worthless broken items that they charged a minimum of almost 200 euros payment and the keep unless you find packing material and a printer before the courier is knocking Great gamble on their part.

I recently entered two antique oil lamps for auction on Catawiki. The lamps had years ago been bought for around 200 Euros each. I wanted to put in a reserve price, but was told that this was not possible and that the starting price should be set low to attract bidders. I trusted their advice, and the pieces were sold at a price of 1 Euro each! After the sale I received an e-mail asking if I was hungry for more. Needles to say I declined. This organisation is completely incompetent and I would strongly recommend against using them

Recently bought vintage watches from catawiki. Both stopped working outside of the three day payment window to seller. Both sold as in perfect working order. Catawiki support say they can do nothing, after the three days. Messaging sellers shut down after period so no comeback whatsoever. Avoid this platform. Spend your money somewhere they have protection and support for customers.

Catawiki is a scam. First they deleted bad review from VIP sellers outside the EU who are scamming customers. That is the best way to scam on this platform people allready paid the VAT and tax when importing it and they are not so eager to send ot back. They only can leave bad reviews on Catawiki Platform. Catawiki deleted this on request off the seller. No there is a new law you cannot delete it. They chang it into neutral. But every seller has a feedback score. With this bad sellers they donnot show their feedbackscore anymore because it is so bad. Catawiki is a bad compagny giving professional scammers a platform to earn money.

Trust me the staff at catawiki don’t have any real rules in place for anything , such as if a buyer refuses the parcel . I sent an item to Germany ( he refused ) they’re not paying me even tho they’ve had tracking and proof of address of receipts from me , because the buyer told them verbally it went the wrong address ( and offered no proof to back this claim ) they r took the word of of a buyer over proof of tracking ( incredibly bad service & zero seller protection ) This is just 1 example of things I can give many . EBay is light years ahead in every department.don’t waste your time unless you want to find out the hard way , it’s not safe and with no rules to follow themselves it makes it a very arduous process as youl get fobbed off by everyone you talk to if problems occur . Extremely poor service

I have few and always just perfect experience with Catawiki. Have already purchased about 10 objects from different sellers. You can see sellers rewiews, so you can choose from whom you want to buy. Communication has always been very professional with both, Catawiki team when needed and also sellers. Definitely recommend !

I would leave zero stars if possible. Their support is pretty bad and their sellers are incompetent. The seller filled out the shipping label listing the item weighing 128 grams instead of 1.8 grams thus causing an increase in the import VAT. CataWiki says the form was correctly filled in because they know nothing.

This website is completely corrupted. I found that sellers are asking shipping cost which some time more than even double the items. When I check to sell an item I found Catawiki offers a shiping cost much less than when you are going to buy an item. Also, I found that this website always gave preference to some perticular sellers and when you gave a feedback they delete it ignoring the facts. So, not all the sellers here are authentic. All products mentioned in the websites are fake and forgery. I think a legal action against this website must be taken.

I have had no issues at all selling or buying on Catawiki . I’m a fairly new to the site , but all items I’ve won have been delivered in good condition . I have sold an assortment of items again no issues . I had a problem last week , I had not added worldwide postage to 6 items . I contacted customer service , by the end of the day they had pulled them off auction and let me edit and add worldwide shipping . They then put them back in to Auction . So honestly in have got no negatives to say about them .

1. If you bid with under 60 seconds remaining, Catawiki, automatically tacks on another 1:30 seconds. Is that legal? Certainly, highly unethical. 2. I placed a Maximum Bid with 10 seconds left. Catawiki reset the Bid Clock to 1:30 seconds and automatically took my Maximum Bid even though nobody else had bid since I placed it. They will take the Maximum Bid and not increase in set increments. So, you cannot bid and forget it, they will immediately take that Maximum Bid. They present it as increasing in increments but that is not the case. Fraudulent? Certainly, highly unethical. This is a corrupt auction/bid house. Be very careful!

I've sold several items on Catawiki without any problem and would like to put some negative remarks from other persons in perspective (I'm not affiliated with Catawiki in any way). 1. The "experts" have to assess the products offered online, they can't touch or feel the objects. This fundamentally makes evaluation of some products hard if not impossible 2. Likewise, as a buyer only online assessment is possible with all it's drawbacks. Some items need to be assessed in person. Personally, I would never buy a car or expensive item without being able to see it in person first. The whole online thing is totally different from real person-to-person trades and a buyer should bid according to the extra risks - not on assumptions that everything is fine just because an expert has assessed the stuff. The expert just can't asses properly through online pictures only. If online wasn't possible, many items wouldn't even been available for buyers. About the shipping costs: a buyer should check shipping costs and again not assume things. Catawiki allows bidding from all over the world. I have items I don't want to ship to certain countries because shipping to those countries is unreliable or insurance is impossible. Therefor for those countries I specify very high costs on purpose to discourage bids from there. Reaction times from Catawiki support are indeed slow. However all my questions were answered eventually. Finally, Catawiki is for special products with collector value. The reason why I've ditched eBay for those products is that eBay support is 10 times worse than Catawiki, at least for me here in Europe, and that eBay doesn't seem to have the right exposure anymore for this kind of products. eBay has become a sort of Amazon for run-of-the-mill consumer stuff.

When you look at an item and see the description and estimate you obviously think this is the "experts" opinion, however I am in the process of selling my first item here and both the estimate and description are both input by the seller. I have also seen some vintage items on the website which are fake, how did these pass inspection by the "experrts'? On top of that many sellers asking extortionate postage, I saw a pen which finished for £10 with £100 postage!

BUYER BEWARE: 5 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Buy Your “Special Object” Here 1. Poor Customer Protection: Catawiki only provides 3 days to review your object. After that, you have absolutely zero protection as a buyer. This is far from standard practice in today’s online marketplace. 2. Sellers Can Easily Get Away With False Advertisements: Sellers can advertise goods that work “perfectly” and not be held accountable for selling faulty products if the buyer doesn't react within 3 days. This matter becomes complicated for technical gadgets, such as luxury automatic mechanical watches that may not appear broken in the first 48 hours. 3. Unclear Customs Fees: The seller doesn’t have to give even a range of the expected costs for customs. In my case, the cost was 160EUR – on top of the auction fee and delivery charge – but Catawiki guessed that it could be EVEN more: upwards of 300EUR, depending on the country. At the very least, a range for this charge should be told to the consumer. This is borderline breaking international consumer rights laws. 4. No Medium For Resolving Conflict: After 3 days, once the payment from escrow hits the seller’s account, there is precious little that can be done from the Catawiki side. You are left out cold, and nothing can be done to resolve the situation in terms of returns or compensation. (Forget asking to return anything on this site! Better yet, just go to Amazon or a more trusted site.) 5. Dubious “Experts”: One reason the seller in my case refused to refund or resolve the issue is because he said my luxury watch was inspected by experts before being sent. The site is also proud to put their experts’ faces on top of all auction items. This is just clever marketing; don’t be tricked. There is no expert inspecting each good and you are at full risk if that good should be delivered without being in working condition. Learn from my mistake (and many like me) and do not buy anything on Catawiki. 6. Final thoughts (my review): This has been the worst online purchase experience of my life. I’m a 38-year-old male with plenty of experience in the online world, and I work in marketing online brands. I now own a faulty luxury watch that will be a constant reminder of this horrible customer experience. I will likely end up selling it at a loss, when I could have just bought the same watch directly from the brand or a reputable retailer – for a LOWER cost that this second-hand piece of junk Catawiki helped facilitate. BUYER BEWARE: You are much better off going to a reputable auction house or store that can provide consumer protection and product guarantees. That is not Catawiki.

This was the last time I bought something at Catawiki. Again scam, this time a watch. The seller has deliberately lied about the item (seller Aframes has admitted this). Catawiki does nothing. be warned about scams and scammers at Catawiki.
