Nightmare experience, copious amounts of damaged items, damaged items replaced with more damaged items, one unit even arrived water damaged, very poor quality overall, the fitter blamed Howdens and Howdens blamed the fitter, I was left frustrated, stranded and unsupported in the middle, Jake Cornforth was an awful fitter, he didn't give Howdens a chance to replace all the damaged items and went ahead and installed no end of damaged items with chips and dents galore in my new kitchen, there was no pricing transparency, the depot investigated a complaint I raised internally which was not impartial, the business model puts the customer in the middle and unprotected between Howdens and the fitter, fitters with Howdens accounts need monitoring and scrutiny as the one we had was not good for the reasons outlined and because he also took almost three months on our refit, did not complete the work and would not put right the things he did, he showed hostility and annoyance towards me when I was only asking him to put right the poor jobs he did and said nothing was good enough for me disregarding my right for a good quality undamaged new kitchen, it was a very distressing experience, I wouldn't buy a Howdens kitchen again and can not recommend Howdens based on my experience, I suggest buyers please beware, it was a dreadful experience, and I noticed a culture that makes out the customer is being fussy and expecting too much, vast improvements are needed, having a kitchen refit should be pleasurable and existing but that was not the case, it was instead thwart with anguish and heartache, a sorry state of affairs and one I would hope no one else experiences.

Never again. It is almost two years since they installed the kitchen and due to bad workmandship, the worktops are warpped between the joints and the cheap wood they have used. Their first excuse was a bad installation by the joiner but little they know they send the joiner them. Sent another joiner to rectify the issue but that didnt work either. Now they are asking me to find a joiner to do the job. The reason for that is to hide their poor quality products by blamming the joiner and wash their hands off it. DONT BUY HOWDENS and waste your money. You can get the same quality but a lot cheaper from B&Q

I wanted to order a Granite grey sink, however they had no samples. I was told he did not want to order one if I did not want? When the sink came the sales assistance forgot to put in the sink plug and drainage system. As it is a reversible sink there also needs to be a plug on one side, the assistance insisted I had a different sink, so I had to take a photograph to show him the sink he just sold me. He did not want to order another sink and telephoned my kitchen fitter querying the photograph on my mobile and said he would give me a stainless steel one. I was so angry as I had been back three times and he disregarded me, how dare they treat customers like this?

I thought shabby sales techniques were a thing of the past but sadly not! We had our kitchen measured and then has an appointment to talk about what we wanted. We found the process very cloak and dagger with no prices readily available and the sales person kept wanting to know what our budget was, which we didn't disclose. He then came up with a figure which we weren't able to see how he arrived at, which he said was discounted but we would have to pay for IN FULL today!! He lost our business at that point! We thanked him and left with no intention of buying a Howden's kitchen. A very unprofessional experience.

Apparently Howdens are the best that's why I went with them not realising I was about to put my trust & money into the pockets a bunch of unprofessional uncaring staff. I asked for while work tops a few days later I was told they were out of stock so the designer said mirror chip would be the most appropriate option for the look I wanted, wrongly of me I trusted him & agreed without viewing also as a senior nurse working frontline every shift I wanted to protect staff at howdens & keep my social distance so I trusted in advice give. The day of fitting I was at work however upon returning I was horrified the tops were most certainly not white (see pictures). After my emails being ignored along with phone calls not returned & some rudeness Howdens manager changed the tops to white oddly enough the original tops I'd requested. Sadly it doesn't end here... since fitted (not the kitchen fitters fault they followed the designers plans) I've not been able to open my back door. Howdens solution to this is to pay a fitter 300 & move the whole kitchen down a few inches. If this plan is followed I will have to pay an electrician to move plug sockets, extractor, oven & hob moreover the under counter fridge would need moving leaving the last cupboard not fitting. I don't have a lot of money I've literally spent my life savings on this dream kitchen I have items left over yet the appliance washing machine door is missing, when I emailed the manager he said the 600 base unit is the same ??? well if this is the case why doesn't it fit ? My kitchen fitter is a true craftsman if he says it won't fit then that is the case. I never expected to be fighting for my rights from Howdens as well as covid. I brought the kitchen in September it's 20th December & I still don't have a functioning kitchen, I can't put a floor down till it's rectified I can’t express the amount of upset this has & continues to give me. I'm so desperately upset & stressed. Thank you Howdens I'll raise my glass to you on Christmas Day as I tuck into my pot noodle because that's all this shambles of a kitchen is good for.

Awful company, worst ever, pre customer services was ok but after sales customer service is dreadful, they have no concept of what good customer care is, their staff are rude and disinterested and they get away with it as their ethos supports it, very poor quality items, and don't trust all their fitters are any better as ours was a disaster, we regret buying a kitchen from them, far too many problems, I actively advise you buy elsewhere if you value your home, your hard earned money, and your sanity, they are absolutely awful.

A temporary joiner recommended Howdens to me and said 'mention my name'. So I did and Howdens sent a quote to me with the joiners name on the account. I went to their kitchen showroom in Penrith to alter the design, choose doors and haggle the price. At this point Tom, the salesman, said I would be paying them direct. "So I can deal with Howdens directly?" I asked. 'Yes' was the simple reply. (Foolish boy - I had an independent witness with me). From that point on everything was direct, including the payment request. Unusually for me I didn't insist on an invoice - busy, distracted. Howdens then sent the joiner the VAT invoice even though he had not paid, he was not the customer. I now cannot reclaim the VAT or set against capital gains tax so it's costing me over £1,800 more on top of a £4,300 kitchen. The joiner of course can set this invoice against profits on his turnover and - this is clever - can stay below the VAT threshold by having the customer pay his bills for him (even though it was nothing to do with him he will have made a profit). HMRC and the VAT office are very interested and sadly it looks as though literally thousands of fitters, joiners etc will be investigated for a national multi million VAT and tax fraud. Howdens are disinterested but I suspect they will just have to get interested.

Absolutely everything!! Starting with their kitchen designer who was completely useless and ending with their customer service who don't take complaints. The designer drew up a plan but completely mis-represented my very accurate drawing. The result - the units did not fit. They sent a small sink and housing unit when the normal size did fit. Result I had to start the work all over. Every wall was the wrong length on the plan so space on other walls was wasted too. Worst of all is they of course have small print disclaiming any responsibility for their designer getting it wrong. Outcome - I ended up with a kitchen design I did not want. And to make the situation even worse they don't have a complaints dept, just a customer service dept who are completely spineless and just went along with what the branch manager told them. So claims I made for compensation were completely ignored. The message 'well that's just tough' ie the customer is always wrong!! Will never ever buy anything from Howdens ever again.

My 87 yr old mother purchased her kitchen this summer & was recommended their own brand cooker hob. She wasn't given any product information & was surprised when she contacted them to explain she was unable to use 4 rings on full power together, that this was normal, due to the limitations of the product. Feeling disappointed that this hadn't been explained to her before her purchase, felt she had no alternative but to put up with it. However this hob has now proved to be faulty. At times she is totally unable to use it because it won't come on. It has been tested by an independent electrician who couldn't get it to work either. She contacted Howdens and their response was we'll get someone out but not sure when it will be. Days later when their electrician was available it was working again. She has done this on several occasions but they say they need to get their own electrician to see the hob not working and they are never available when she phones. It is difficult, when something stops working intermittently to get someone from Howdens there immediately to confirm this problem, so how is she supposed to get it resolved. She has spoken to the shop in Uttoxeter on numerous occasions to ask for a replacement or a refund. They have refused, even after the electrician contacted them to say it wasn't working properly. She is extremely stressed and upset that at times she is unable to cook her dinner. She spent a lot of money at Howdens when she purchased her new kitchen but is very disappointed with the way she is now being treated.

All sweetness and light until they get your money and then you will see a major change which hits you profoundly with the most awful culture, disgraceful staff, and couldn't care less attitude once you've paid. Extremely poor quality items and far too many damaged items. It took three attempts to get damaged items replaced and a staggering 7 weeks. Please avoid, avoid, avoid and shop elsewhere.

Howdens are a complete waste of time with regards their kitche ns...all good until there is a problem....their designer and also the manager who checked over everything failed to make adjustments in a island overhang....ends up costing us an extra £750! completely their fault and yet no help at all. and infact silence from them when asked what are they gpi g to do. I was told only told contact their customer service and that was a complete waste of time. This was in Binley, Coventry.

Howdens are really bad. The offered me a free kitchen estimate. The quote was excessive. They didn't help me to sort out any of the problems with the kitchen myself. They sold me several items which I didn't need. They are constantly harassing me with text messages, brochures, emails and letters. I've told them to stop because I've had enough. They're terrible. Their kitchens are really bad and their service is really bad as well. I wouldn't recommend Howdens or their kitchens. They are 'trade only' which is jargon for the everyday consumer.

Struggle to give one star kitchen fitted 5 months 3 of 6 appliances already had new parts fitted new thermostat in cooker 3 weeks new ignition in hob 8 weeks and now new motherboard in the fridge. Complained to Howdens from start as didnt think it was acceptable to have parts fitted in products at such an early stage but told by their staff this was our only option. Now been told by their complaints department shouldn't have had new parts fitted you couldn't make it up but they will listen to further complaints and take history of products into account when they break down avoid at all costs

We have had the worst experience ever - we will be reviewing on external sits and uploading pictures in due course. Either the designer or the installer had aboslutely no idea what they were doing. Beyond horrible.

Howdens at west Swindon is basically a perfidious company I have dealt with , to start with • it took ages to get the design • as the prices are not mentioned on their website , they just quote what they feel like ,where there is difference of £100-£400. Would likely suggest the buyer to look up the prices on other websites before confirming with Howdens as they are real cons!!• when the item was being refunded , TOM the manager said there are bits missing and wouldn’t even let my husband leave the item saying they are not insured and wasted his time, when I sent out an email asking them to check with the fitter for the missing item as he was the one who packed it for the refund. The missing bits was there in 8 mins and ready to refund!! Also they follow trade only so they can play up being hand in gloves with trade person in conning people.Would never recommend this perfidious company!!
