Once you come here, there really is no need to look further. I PROMISE! I have been studying this music for a long time, and every time I experience "wanderlust" and try something else, I always come back home to Open Studio. Whether you have a personal instructor or coach NOTHING compares to this. Just stop. You have finally found the ONE-STOP SHOP. The price alone does not compare. What you pay here for one month is what you will pay for one lesson for most teachers. Plus all the content here will take you multiple lifetimes to truly acquire. The instructors are WOLRD CLASS!!! Thank you OPEN STUDIO.

I love the piano, but I've rarely felt permission be vulnerable in my jazz skills development process. I studied classical for 9 years and began studying jazz and playing piano in a jazz ensemble twice a week in an ARTS High School along with theory classes twice a week. I went to one of the best music schools in the world majoring in jazz/commercial piano studies and the entire process was painful, like navigating chaos in frozen mud. The Open Studio Podcast/You'll Hear It Podcast allowed me into conversations I was not privy to/was afraid to join because I never quite knew my skill level, but I definitely understand it's not good enough for me to ever sit in on a jam session or take requests. So this is another "healing" story. I'm within the 14 free days trial and can't quite afford to join YET... But I'm enjoying exploring the courses. Heck, I pray for the grace to be a beginner and chose the beginners video and for the first time learned why the difference between piano lengths made a difference in tone and the difference between grand pianos and upright pianos. See what I mean? Things are straightening out without legacy, race or status getting in the way (another story). With music school my experience was you had to already be a genius in order to get the proper attention needed (I actually witnessed that over and over). Now maybe I can get some organized structure and see real results from practice, not just grandstanding because I collected a few complicated chords but not know what to do with them. I hope this made sense. Open Studio seems to be doing things positively and very well. ~ Geocosmic Valentine

I’m loving the course on Paul Chambers style. Would love more specific courses tailored in the same way for other bassists. A similar courses on Ray Brown would be great. I’d love to see similar offerings for contemporary electric jazz bass as well. Maybe a focused course on Hadrien Feraud? Just throwing that out there

So glad to be back on the OsPro platform again since the waiting list was recently reopened. This is by far the best learning resource for all Jazz musicians from the beginner and amateur to the professional. You will gain so much from these fantastic teachers. I personally benefit from the structure of weekly classes that make it easy to follow a dedicated pathway. As a Double bassist a big shout out to Bob Deboo whose lessons impart a wealth of knowledge in a relaxed, fun atmosphere. Lastly, in terms of value for money I get 4 lessons per week on Double bass but also dip into all the other courses such as the Pentatonic course by Adam Maness. Definitely value for money.

Instructors are nice and knowledgeable. The workflow continued to be an issue (mainly there is no digesteable calendar i can import - i have to create an entirely new flow every week - I have a ton of meetings and rely on my calendar religiously to tell me where I need to be). I reached out to Kaleb and he encouraged me to make my own calendar invite every week ... which is just silly for a $100 / mo subscription. I then brought up this issue to Dan and he couldn't even be bothered to respond. I'm not sure how I'm supposed to buy into the OSPro community when the founder won't even acknowldege my friction point. Seems like a good platform for those retired or who have less demanding positions.

Hi Ryan, Apologies on the delayed reply and I'm sorry your experience was less than ideal. We have been taking into account all of the recommended features and deploying them as soon as they are ready. I'm happy to say that we will be launching the ability to add the sessions to your calendar (GCal, Outlook or Apple Cal) very soon. Best, Dan Martin Co-founder, Open Studio

Really great resource. Tons of great lessons and tutorials. Lessons from all the great musicians is very fantastic. The synced transcription feature is great! Only real criticism might be the website. Layout It's always super difficult to get back to the lessons I like. The Website throws me off and the layout is such that I can't figure how to get back to peter's weekly lesson e.g. Maybe It's me but after a couple of years it still takes me several minutes to get there for some reason. Also the search feature never seems to bring the result I'm looking for. Maybe that has changed recently, as I haven't tried it for a while. Website seems slightly annoyingly complex...very minor complaint. Overall I love what you guys are doing, keep it up!!!

Though I have had fewer opportunities to participate in events on line since the end of the pandemic “lock-down”, I have continued my membership because I feel the occasional “drive by” opportunities to watch a video or take a live session with Adam or Peter is well worth the price of the membership and I know OS is always there as a resource when I need one. And I still think Adam is one of the best educators I’ve ever seen or met; and I was in education at the high school and college level for 37 years knew and observed many, many educators.

I’m really satisfied with the course I bought ! I’m a bit sad I cannot purchase other courses, the membership is the only option although I would rather buy some specific lessons instead. Anyway, again, great course, great teaching, good content !

I want to learn jazz. I know nothing about jazz and since I been a member, I learned a lot. I’m gonna continue on studying with open studio and hopefully you can get me where I need to be.

Unparalleled teaching material at your fingertips! The content is fantastic, as it the way it is taught! I thought learning via videos would be limited, but I was very wrong! My only criticism is it can be overwhelming with so many options, and it's really difficult to figure out which course to pick. I like the piano pathway course which gives a clear plan, I think it would be good for more stuff like this which helps give a clear pathway based on various goals.

Hello! I really love it. I practice Jazz Piano on Open Studio and my playing really starts to sound good thanks to you guys. And it makes so much fun. I have 3 recommendations: 1) I didn't like that during the look and feel change of the Open Studio website all of my progress in my current course was erased. I had to mark every lesson as completed again. Please consider this in future updates. 2) Some of the courses lead to a dead link. For example "Jazz Piano Fundamentals" and "Jazz Piano Transcriptions | Vol. 1". You may want to fix this. 3) Could you make a more theory heavy course? I just started with the Jazz Chords course and it works for me. Adam always mentiones that we don't need to unterstand the theory to play these chords. But actually, it would help me to unterstand some of the motivations behind the voice leading. If there is a theory course in the higher levels and i haven't found it yet, please forget my suggestion please. You are doing a great. I love your work and passion. Hava a nice day, David Enajat
